Is there such a thing? Is it the same as make-up? I suffer from over-active sebum production and need a new line of make-up that does not clog my pores!

Hi Mojocat,

Have you tried mineral makeup? It doesn't clog pores and many of us with skin problems use it with great success.

Mary

I havent tried mineral make up. The search i did bring up some brands which i am totally not familiar with. I am in Singapore, any idea what kind of mineral make up is available here? My facialist stocks Averine...anyone heard of that? She told me the blushes are made from butterfly wings....isn't that cruel???

Certain MAC make-up are non comedegenic, I know that the Studio finnish concealer and the Studio Fix Pressed powder foundation are both non comedogenic.

I'm using maybelline shine free at the moment with no problems. It feels really light on and was on the acne web site as non comedegetic. I did change to mineral makeup for awhile but just couldnt get it right and missed my liquid foundation too much Very Happy

I think it has more to do with your skin cleansing/moisturizing routine. I think if you have good clear skin before putting anything on then you are ahead of the game. Also making sure to really cleanse all the makeup off. Before I started using Dermalogica products it seemed any makeup I used broke me out...but now I can pretty much wear anything cause my skin is overall more healthy and clear Very Happy

I also have oily skin. For me, a lot of that is caused by diet.

Anyway, the best things to work for me are:
1. DermaDoctor's Tease Zone. This works as a primer, sort of, and mattifies the skin.

2. Jane Iredale Pressed Powder. This is a mineral foundation in a pressed form. It's convenient for me as I like to touch up during the day.

3. Boscia Green Tea Blotting Papers. These soak up oily breakthrough pretty well and are supposed to be infused with green tea to reduce oil.

Oily skin is tough because not a lot works. I haven't find a perfect solution. I'm not sure there is one, but this is the closest I've gotten. It works quite well.

Hello. I am from Singapore too! But before I go on to sing the praises about mineral makeup, you might want to know that is not available in Singapore. Sad Pretty sad huh?

I've tried Averine before. The foundation did break me out very slightly. My skin is very sensitive though. I think Averine is alright (and only alright) in terms of benefit to the skin, but it does give a very powdery look initially. Coverage is not fantastic so this would be a so so.

On the other hand, mineral make up lasts through the day. However, if you have oily skin, it doesn't do much to matte it out in my experience. By mid noon, my skin becomes greasy when wearing mineral makeup. But the thing is, although it becomes oily, the make up stays and it doesn't look horrible, just that now you have an extra glow. If you're worried about the oilies, use Rose Dust.

Mineral makeup acts as a protection, does not clog pores (i exercise with it and i do not break out! rather, my skin gets better!) and is beautiful. Nuff' said Wink

Well, since Singapore doesn't stock it, I order it through EDS. There's great service and its safe, so thats an option for you.

I'm using Jane Iredale and I think its great. I recommend you try it! If you need help choosing your shade, perhaps you could ask me. Feel free to pm!

Tata!

I remember reading on the boards that by using a dusting of Jurlique Lavender Silk Dust before you apply your make-up, this acts as a primer and a treatment to the face.
I prefer not to wear any foundation now and just put on concealer to any blemishes, a little blush and my skin looks better than if I try to mask it with foundation.
Since I have been using the Dr Hauschka regime my skin is so much better and doesn't turn into an oil slick later in the day also diet and supplements really help too.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! We dont get too much in Singapore, tynkerbell Sad
I will give averine a try first to see if it helps fight the clogs. i dont wear alot of foundation so i think fixing the blush could help me with some results for a start. Will update...else ive heard rave reviews abt Jane Iredale myself. That'll be next on the list Smile

Hi mojocat. If you can`t find mineral m/u where you live. You can also try the mineral m/u from pure luxe. They ship worldwide and the good thing about it is that you can buy samples first, so you can see what will be your color match. HTH.

Hello Mojocat
I was having the same problems, not only that..since I have oily skin I found that any makeup I applied looked great to start, but as the day went on (or I should say the hour went on) my face became sticky. I switched to a mineral make up, but made the mistake of not knowing that some mineral make up contains talc. Once I switched to one, without talc- (True Make up) all the problems went away. Very Happy

I am using Exuviance Foundation SPF15, its really good and does not clog my pores. Good coverage and it contains AHA in it, works like a skincare * spam * cosmetic foundation. I don't usually like putting on foundation as most will clog my pores and cause acne outbreaks. But after trying Exuviance foundation, I fell in love with this and its the best of all i have i tried

I've bot the Averine blush. Its a sweet Pink n so far so good. If it keeps up i'll be looking at pressed/loose powder next. I dont really wear foundation but where can i find out more abt Exuviance? They dont stock this where i am so i think i'll hv to find it where they ship to Asia online.
