I have been thinking about trying a peel but to be honest am very confused to what I should try. Basically I have pretty bad lines around my lips (due to smoking) I have had restylane done 3 times and it hasnt made much difference to them. I am now using Renova and a glycolic acid moisturiser alternate nights and Vit C Serum, Alpha Derma CE and Derma excel 7 am... Would a peel help to eliminate these lines if so what should I be looking for and how do I use it. I also had a sample of the pumpkin peel - not sure if this is the type of peel I should be using??? Any advice appreciated.

I'm using Vivier 20, ADCE, DermaExcel and Renova also. What glycolic acid moisturizer are you using? I'll be interested in reading the feedback you get on peels. |

Debra
I am using a 10% glycolic acid moisturiser I purchased from Ebay.
What is Vivier 20? |

Scottishjuls......sorry for the late reply.
I use Vivier vitamin C serum at 20%, which, I believe, is the highest strength. I believe Viver carries a couple of C serums at lower strengths, but my skin does fine with 20. I love this....it's not as drying as Skinceuticals C E Ferulic. I'm going to order Cellular Skinrx C serum next. Thought I'd gicve that a try after reading the rave reviews on this site. If this doesn't work as well, I'll go back to Vivier. I just used the last of it a few days ago, and my skin is screaming for it! I just haven't had time to decide what else I want to try, if anything along with it. |

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that the Restylane didn't help with the lines. I would rec asking your derm about a medium-deep peel. Although the chemicals for the peels can be bought online (I buy lactic acid and low % TCA from MUAC), for the depth to really take out those lines I would go to a derm. Good luck-Laura. |

I have ordered a 12.5% TCA / Lactic / Glycolic Peel from Platinum Skin care, do you think that will make any difference to the lines?

I tried that (12.5%) on my nasolabial lines and it did take off a very light layer, too chicken to leave it on too long. Don't think it will be deep enough for what you are wanting. You could also just repeat the process every 6 weeks and it might slowly make a difference, while using a retinol product at night. I did have restyline finally on mine and while plumping up, the lines are still there, they just need softening. |

I recently tried a 12.5% TCA peel that I ordered from platinumskincare.com. The first time I tried it I did not peel at all. I decided that I applied too little. The second time I applied more to the cotton pad and did two layers - leaving it on for around 4 min - I did not even get a proper peel! I only had a tiny bit of flaking in certain areas. I do not think it is a very strong peel- but I have read of people having good results with it on the forum. I think I may try a higher percent of TCA next time.
I was told that TCA is the best peel for hyperpigmentation - which I am trying correct. Are glycolic peels better for lines? |

I heard quite the opposite- that glycolic peels are good for hyperpigmention. I don't think they do much for lines. |
