Hi,

I have a sightly indented scar on my face from when I had chicken pox when I was younger. It's been 17 years or so and the scar is quit unsightly. Can applying Hydroquinone every night lighten the scar and if so are the results permananent?

I only want the scar lightened so would it work if I just apply a small dab of Hydroquinone on the scar every night?

I don't want to rub it in because 'm scared if the creme gets on the surrounding areas then my skin around the scar will lighten too.

Also would I have to wear sunblock the following morning?

I really would appreciate any feedback anyoen may have.

Thanks in advance,

Sonny

So it's not even safe to even spot treat with it for a bit and only applying it at night?

What would the negative affects be considering that I have a light brown skin complexion.

Thanks in advance,

I've heard bad things about HQ. It depends on the percentage of HQ you're using.

But my doc rec'd a product containing HQ for me (for seborrhea). And I'm light brown too (maybe a bit lighter than that). It's called Lustra. I can't say I've noticed significant lightening. Sometimes my condition looks OK enough to go w/o makeup. Other times, it does not.

The Lustra pkg says to wash your hands after applying it. That doesn't make me feel too good about the product.

What about using lemon juice or vitamin C?

Can someone explain how this product works and if the results are permanent? Any if the product does damage my skin are the negative results permanent?

Has anyone here gotten positive results from using this product???

Thanks again,

To my knowledge, the scarring is permanent. Skin bleaching is big in South Africa (centuries of domination will do that). But HQ was banned in there 10 years ago. Here's why:

Not to scare you. Obviously HQ is prescribed by docs. But it can be harmful.

Best,

i HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH hq. I used it
under my eyes and got huge hyperpigmentation patches it took months and haloxyl to get rid of them. DO NOT USE THIS.

I don't think scars are completely hopeless. I'm an expert I have probably 42" of surgical scars. I had reasonably good experience with silicone ointments and with super Cop ( a strong copper peptide). It takes years, however, and although some have nearly disappeared other areas are still raised or brownish.

Good luck.

P.S. I am going to test glycolic creams on them. I haven't tried that yet and it might help.
