Hello, All. My hair salon has added a lady who does facials. As I noticed Dermalogica products in a display case, I would assume she uses these products for the facials. I wonder if there is any real value (other than for pampering) in going for professional facial now and then. Could some of you share your experiences? Is the result worth the money?

Hi Joey and welcome!
Yes I think there are many benefits in having professional facials. I think it really depends on the aesthetician (qualified/knowledgable) and the products being used. I know Dermalogica has professional products that are not sold to consumers and used only for professional facials. The benefits from using these such products may include, extra moisturization/hydration for the skin (I'm thinking of Derm's oatmeal mask) or perhaps a form of gylcolic peel (accelerator 26, I think it's called), which would help with hyperpigmentation and oily/acneic skin. IMHO having a facial can almost always help a persons skin as long as the aestheticial is well qualified. I've had both positive and negative experiences. I do love the pampering!! Hope this helps! |

Why do they not sell the oatmeal mask? Is the oatmeal mask good? |

It is my understanding that the collidal oatmeal mask is a professional product only. It's just like any other line that has retail products but are used in professional facials, i.e. Yonka--some products are only manufactured for the aesthetician to use. I know of a woman who is an aesthetician and does Dermalogicas facials and she explained this too me. It would be nice if they did sell the oatmeal mask, but apparently you need another person to apply it as you have to lay down and there is a gauze type mask on your skin before the actual oatmeal mask--I've had it done--it's very moisturizing!! The mask is actually oatmeal and is mixed into a thick consistency and then spread on. I favor have a facial done every once in a while. |
