this is a physical sunscreen from australia (they should know a thing or 2 about good sunscreening). it's active ingredient is zinc oxide & provides broad spectrum uva, b & c protection w. an spf 30.
i have been using physical sunscreens for the last couple of years...my main problem is that they have been too thick & heavy. they seem to clog up my pores and leave a heavy layer on my skin's surface. the nicest one i had found (texture-wise) was total block cotz, but it contains some ingredients that i generally try to avoid in my skincare.
UV Naturals has an ingredient list that consists mainly of a variety of oils and waxes + zinc oxide (don't have the tube infront of me right now to write out for you). i've been using it for the last couple of days, just on my face (the only area currently exposed to the elements)...and like it so far. i have a bit of shiney face upon first applying it over my moisturizer, but since it's winter my skin soaks it all right in within a few minutes. once it's absorbed i don't have any more/less shiny face than if i wasn't wearing sunscreen of any sort. it doesn't leave a white cast at all (from trying it on my hand at the store), but i have been mixing in a bit of dr. h's toned day cream for colouring. i chose the baby formulation because it seemed a bit lighter in texture/soaking-in-ability on my hand in the store, but they do have a general, golf & a few other formulations available.
don't know how my skin would handle this during the summer (all the oils might be a bit much), but for right now (dry & cold & windy) it's perfect.
my only complaint was that i had to give the tube a really good shake when i got it home as some of the ingredients had separated.
