For Carekate: aspirin mask. I need help!!!

I am very confused!!!

I am trying to find the miracle aspirin mask that helps get rid of acne scaring. There are so many different recipes posted. Which one should I make? I’m 20 years old and my skin is pretty sensitive, so I don’t know which one to make! I want to make sure that whatever I use does not make me break out anymore.

I would like to make one that has products that I can easily find as well.

Thanks!

Hi thatgirl,

All of the aspirin masks are variations of the same thing ... which is aspirin and water.

The other ingredients are used to enhance the effectiveness of the "basic" aspirin mask.

Some people found that just aspirin and water made them sneeze [although that never happened to me] ...

You might want to try the basic recipe first to see how your skin reacts. If your skin is sensitive, then it's best to move slowly.

I usually melt 5 aspirin in just enough lime juice to cover them. It takes a minute or two for the aspirin to melt in the lime juice but once it has, I add enough sour cream [you could use yoghurt as well ... you're interesting in getting the lactic acid benefits here] to make a "one time" mask.

Now, I also add a bit of French Green Clay to mine, but it's not necessary.

Spread the mixture onto your face and leave it on anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. [If your skin is sensitive then 5 minutes may be all you can tolerate at first.]

Moisten your finger tips and gently massage the mask ... the aspirin bits will provide an irritant useful for encouraging exfoliation ... but be careful not to scrub ... just move the mixture in gentle circles. Then rinse off ... and follow up with ACV toner.

Now, the aspirin mask isn't miraculous in that your scars won't disappear after one use ... but gradually, with regular use, your scarring should become less severe.

Good luck

Mary

I'm not carekate, nor an expert on th mask, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents too. I just did it for the first time the other night. I crushed up my aspirin a bit, then covered them with a bit of water. They dissolve immediately and got more powdery. Then, I mixed in a some honey (I didn't measure). That's all I did. I was also afraid of adding too much, or anything too harsh, to start off. I left it on for only five minutes - again, to avoid having anything freaky happen or from "od'ing" on the aspirin. It worked really nice and didn't irritate my skin at all. My few little breakouts didn't miraculously heal, but they were definitely propelled along, and my skin felt really nice afterwards.

Hi ArtTeacher,

Glad you like the aspirin mask ... but you don't have to crush the aspirin at all. Aspirin dissolves very quickly in water.

It sure saves a lot of frustration to NOT have to crush the aspirin ahead of time! Laughing

Yeah, but I bought this complete piece of garbage pill crusher, at the dollar store. You mean, I wasted my dollar?! Laughing

I think I toned up my arm muscles a bit too. I wonder if my exertion was really the reason for my dewy glow? Hmmm....guess I need to try this again. Back to the drawing board. Very Happy

I posted my variation of the aspirin mask on pg 13, along with a primer on AHAs and BHAs on pg 14 of the DIY Skincare Recipes thread: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=5981&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=300
