Hi all. My bottle of JB C&C serum is about to run dry, and I'm looking to try a new Vit. C serum. I've been doing some research and I think I will try the PSF serum. I checked out the 20% concentration on their website, and they "strongly suggest" to start with the 12% formulation. I used the JB C&C regularly, but not too consistently. I am not sure what the concentration is in the JB. I wanted to get some opinions on getting the 12% vs. the 20%. I just finished Accutane a few weeks ago, so my skin is still on the sensitive side, but I never experienced any irritation whatsoever with the C&C. Do I still need to work my way up? I have some hyperpigmented spots, so I can use all the help I can get! Thanks!! |

Hi Nymue,
I can provide insight from my own experience, but I don't have sensitive skin. The very first Vit C serum I used was 20% concentration. I had no problems with this at all, but we all react differently to actives. I would suggest that you request a 20% sample and try it before you purchase the full size.
Regarding the hyperpigmentation, I had great success with Obagi Clear, which I continue to keep on hand and use occasionally when I see any spots begin to re-emerge. |

I might be wrong but if I remember it correctly, JB C&C have 5% each of the following two forms of vit-C: magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and sodium ascorbate.
My personal experience with JB C&C was that its really gentle and well-tolerated. I tried Vivier 10% after JB C&C and I got mild tinkling sensations. It took my skin couple of days to adjust to Vivier 10%. Now I am using IS CLinical 15% and at the begining I still needed some adjustment time.
If your skin is still sensitive from Accutane, I would strongly suggest trying the PSF 12% instead of PSF 20%. You can request for a sample of PSF 20% to try out if you want. I hope this helps. |

Thanks for the advice, Debra and Wildcat. I think I will start w/the lower concentration and request a sample of the 20%. I didn't realize that the JB C&C was so mild. |

I use the Cellular Skin Rx one. It's 12%. It's worked so well I have never thought about going up % wise. I think Pinnell (god of all C skin stuff) did work that showed difference between 10-20% C formulas was not significant. So better not to irritate your skin with a higher % if you are worried about this. |
