I've been stressed and I'm looking to buy a little happy Smile So of course where else would I come to but EDS Very Happy I'm considering getting the Vivier vit. C serum because, based on the sample I received with a previous EDS order, I like this better than any other vitamin C serum I've tried (consistency and how it feels on your skin). I haven't posted a review of it yet but I'll get stuck into writting those (I have a few Smile) over Xmas.

Here's the situation. I'm usually quite slow with finishing up my skincare stuff (I get distracted by other products but eventually get back to finishing what I was using). That's not a good thing when you have a vitamin C serum because from what I hear they have a limited shelf life once they are opened. Once the vitamin C oxidizes they are quite useless.

So, first of all, does anybody know what the shelf life is after is has been opened? And.... this may sound a little silly... should I buy a 20% concentration (instead of a 10%) and theoretically that will take longer to oxidize and therefore it will be effective for longer? Do you know what I mean? Also, is 20% too strong for someone who is 27 (well getting there) and lives in a climate with a harsh sun?

Thanks Smile

There you are!!!!

In reference to your oxidization question, I will answer it with a rhetorical question. Can you be a little pregnant? IMO, it will either oxidized or it won’t. I don't think the % matters. (If Michael was handy, aka MR. Chemical/biology he could answer this with certainty). In reference to the brand, I use the primacy/skinceuticals line. My guess on the shelf life is 3-4 months after opening. It helps when it is not in direct light, kept closed etc. (At least that is how I treat my Vit c.) I haven't considered the Viver brand...
Due to the nature of the product in question, being a Vitamin product, opposed to Retinol or cellular, I think it is never to soon (or young) to start using it. Really. I wish I had started 10 years ago. My understand is it helps ward of pollutants "city life" and to break that down further, wouldn't that mean stress too? (Thesis=stress!!!Surprised) I have to run now to bring our youngest to school, but I will jump back on when I get back!

Babs
PS I had to type this quickly and didn't re-read your post to make sure I answered what you asked and in order. Sorry if I jumped around!!:P

*gets up after rolling around laughing for a while* Tee hee hee Smile *still has a chuckle* Ok, I'm all good now Smile That's a very good point Smile

Ok, it's all or nothing then and thesis = stress; therefore 20% it is! That'll be my Xmas skincare treat (another one!). Thanks Babs Very Happy

The reason I asked that question was that I read something about Ultraceuticals (an Aussie brand) vit C serum that said "Stability testing has shown Ultraceuticals C-10 Serum will contain over 10% vitamin C after 12 months". I just assumed that it steadily dropped off, though what you said makes more sense (especially since I read that about their *10%* serum and always wondered by what magic they can end up with a higher concentration in the end :P). Perhaps they're trying to say that theirs doesn't oxidize at all, go figure!

I like the Vivier one better than the Skinceuticals because it's not as watery when you apply it. It feels slightly oily, it's not really oily, just more substantial than a watery substance. It's a bit hard to describe....
