i need to take control of my acne. i break out on my chin and around my mouth. i also have blackheads on my cheeks.
i was just rummaging through all my stuff and found a full tube of retin-a micro that won't expire til april. i'd really like to try it out, but am not sure if it's right for me because i have dry skin.
what should i expect? i'm always reading about different experiences with it. i know that there is a transition period where my skin won't look so hot, but i really don't care. how long is the transition period? 1 week? 2 weeks? a month?
what should i expect after the transition period?
also, how should i apply it? leave on a thin layer? rub it into my skin? can i use it in conjunction with vit c serum? copper peptides? morning/night?
any suggestions on how to incorporate this into my skin routine is greatly greatly greatly appreciated. thanks! |

Hi,
There is a lot of info on http://www.retinamicro.com/ You should read through it.
If you have sensitive skin, start very slowly. You can start with every 2 days and work slowly up to nightly usage. You may experience dry, flaky skin and purging. The ugly stage may last for weeks. It really depends on the person's skin. Some never adjusts to RAM and have to switch to a different retinold or %.
Use at night only and you NEED to use a good sunscreen every morning.
Use gentle products while you are on RAM. Do not mixed bp product with retinoid.
ETA: waiting 20-30 minutes after washing before applying RAM also help minimize irritation.

Unfortunately I'm one that never adjusted to retin-A micro. I used it for 8 weeks straight before I gave up. The peeling and redness never went away like I was told it should after the first two weeks of "adjustment". It obviously works for some though or it wouldn't be so popular among dermatologists! Good luck and keep us updated! |
