Like I said in my other post, I'm on a 'rose' kick. I know you can't buy this product on EDS but I just had to share Smile

The Jurlique Rose Silk Dust is a super fine white powder. It's used for keeping the oilies away and it does a really good job too. Even though the powder is white it does not look white on your skin. I wouldn't use it all over but it's great for your t-zone area. I've actually used this a while ago and just remembered how lovely it smelt so I reordered yesterday Smile

It comes in a 8g ceramic pot. Not very convenient for travel but a great translucent powder at a good price (Au$21).

Has anybody here used it before?

On their webiste it says: Calendula, Witch Hazel, Rosemary, Arnica, Lavender Oil, Rose Oil, Daisy, Sage, Orris.

LOL. Well I'll give this a go... I always find it hard to describe phonetics to people Smile

The first part "Jur" is pronounced like how the French would pronounce it. The "lique" is pronounces like a plain old tap leak Smile

Sorry, like I said. I'm not very good at describing pronounciation stuff. I think it's because I'm Polish and in Polish you pronounce everything pretty much exactly how it's written Smile

The not being able to describe phonetics still comes from doing primary school in another language I think and not learning things about the English language that kiddies here would normally be taught.

Now, onto the Silk Dust ingredients. My Jurlique order came today so I have a box to read the ingredients off Smile

Corn Starch; Rice Starch; Silica; Herbal Extract Mixture from: Calendula, Arnica, Witch Hazel, Daisy, Sage, Rosemary and Orris; Rose Oil; Lauroyl Lysine, Lavender Oil.

I really need to try this range out. I've been putting it off for years, as I can't decide as to whether or not their products are effective at all -- all my girlfriends give very mixed reviews. I hear great things of the Rosewater spray(?) -- hope I have the right product there! It's basically a 'spritzer', a product to cool, refresh and tone your face. There's also a popular hand-cream... really need to ask around again! I seem to have forgotten recommendations of star products Sad

I must admit that I haven't tried any of their skincare apart from the Calendula Cream that I wasn't very impressed with (though it was probably not the right product for me to try). As Asrai says, the hand cream is really nice (I've got the Rose one, surprise surprise!). The Rosewater spray is tempting but I'm too attached to my Phytomer Face Dew at the moment Smile

Also I'm pretty bad with spritzers, they just tend to sit on my desk and collect dust.... Though one day (probably soon Smile

) I will have to try out the Shu Uemura one. Just coz they have all sorts of pretty colours and I'm such a terrible sucker for packaging! Very Happy

Not a problem Thoughtcrime. Now that is a tough question. I think the results you get are about the same but the Rose Silk dust leaves a rose scent for a while (very sublte though, you wouldn't want anything overpowering on your face). Mind you, you can use the Mineral Veil over and over to touch up and I'm not sure about the Silk Dust. The Silk Dust is a COMPLETELY white powder when you look at it in the pot. While it doesn't leave a white cast on your face, I'm not sure what would happen if you kept touching up with it all the time.

1. When you said that the 2 products were comparable, did you mean in terms of coverage?
2. Is the rose silk transluscent, where anyone can use it? i.e. is it suitable for darker complexions?

1. I think the two products are comparable in that they are both supposed to stop shine/absorb oil. I didn't use Mineral Veil often (just the foundation by itself) and I never really tried to get any coverage from it. I just used a light dusting of it. I do the same with the Silk Dust so to me they are about the same in what they do.

2. It is marketed as a translucent powder and does not come in any other shades. From the box: "An exquisite translucent powder that absorbs oil and perspiration to give your face a luxurious matte finish. Enhaces the texture of your complexion."

2.5. That I'm not sure of actually and I don't really have anybody to test it out on. We're all pale in this household Smile

From what the box says the answer would be a yes but we all know that what products are marketed as and what they actually are, are sometimes two different things.

Well, as far as I know different people use it for different things. Some people just use it as a finishing powder. On ther other hand, I get SUPER oily in the summer, so I use it under foundation, over foundation, for touch ups, and yes, sometimes even at night!^-^

has anybody been using this in really hot and humid conditions? i'm having a major problem here with the heat wave. my face isn't that oily, but it sweats something fierce. i think it has to do with my really thick long hair. i pull it back or put it up, but it's still like wearing a huge wool cap -- heat is just trapped. my face is the first to sweat on my body and a walk to the market can leave me dripping.... i'm wondering if the silk dust would help or if i'm just doomed to carrying around tissues and drying off my face for the rest of the summer. Rolling Eyes

I don't think putting powder on your face will help you stop sweating--believe me, I have lived in the hot-and-humid (during the summer months) Philly region for years and would just sweat the powder off. It is excellent at controlling oil and is translucent on my lighter Asian skin, despite being ghost-white in the packaging. This is probably because it's so finely-milled. I've had mine for over a year and am still not quite through it! I am planning on trying the Lavender scent next.

It's great to hear that the rose scent is pretty subtle. I've been eyeing this (and/or the lavendar) for months now but have hesitated because I was worried that the scent would just be too strong. Now I just have to decide which one to get first. Smile

thank you for confirming what i suspected though. will just have to remember to pack tissues in my bag so the check-out girls stop commenting on how hot it is when they see the sweat dribbling down my face. they get tres chaud just *looking* at me!!! Bad Grin
