facial hair problems

Hi, I'm having some problems with my facial hair, it grows in patches. And their are spots on my face where hair doesnt grow at all. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what might be causing this and how to rectify the situation.

First of all I hope you don't mind me asking if you are male or female.
If you are male I would sugest taking some mineral supplements especially Zinc.
If you are female facial hair is generally a sign of hormone imbalance.

It's not hormonal in all females though, particularly of certain ethnicities. I'm one of those unfortunate girls that comes from a very hairy family. So, I have what I consider way too much in several places. Embarassed

Fortunately the "fuzz" on my face is very light in color, but I still hate it because it doesn't let my skin look very smooth like I want.

I have some fuzz and have begun waxing (giGi microwave wax). For patches of light hair it works well. Every week or two works for me. I also have some spray that is supposed to make it come in slower i really do not know whether it works. I am pre menapausal and this can cause facial hair growth i intend to start hormone replcement as soon as the MDs let me.

that is more of a boys name. Use zinc orally and topically. you can get the topical prep it at most phamacies as an eczema remedy
(zinc pyrithione). You could also have an MD look at it. If it is recent it could be an infection (possibly fungal) or from inflammation where hydrocortisone might help).

Girls-- what do you do about your facial hair?
I have been waxing mine and I had trouble removing the left over wax residue on my face. I used a gentle facial wash (sircuit skin x-trap cleanser) which did not remove the wax. I was afraid to try any harsher soap detergents and I did not want a return of the after-waxing acne I had a month ago from applying almond oil to remove the oil! Shock

Worked great to remove the wax, caused some acne.
soooo.... This time I splashed my face with cold water, which really felt good, and rubbed some of the wax off with my fingers. I then applied a thick layer of aloe ver gel (99% from lily of the valley) as a kind of mask to soothe and calm my skin. This helped with the extreme beet red appearance I have after waxing and I think calmed my skin considerably!! After a few hours, I rinsed my face with cold water again and the wax came off Very Happy

I'm not sure if it was my natural sebum that gently lifted it off the surface of my skin or the aloe vera?? I applied more aloe vera and later that night washed my face with x-trap, rinsed with cold water, and applied tea tree oil to kill any bacteria that might cause some acne. The tea tree oil stung a little, but went away after a few minutes and then my pores kind of tingled and my face felt really clean and fresh! I applied more aloe vera to moisturize and I only had a few milia this morning!! I applied more tea tree oil to them and they're going down.
I have really congested skin, I can see pustules beneath the surface like little hard balls Sad

So I think that when I wax I encourage my skin to purge? What do you guys think??

Hi laurabeth!

I've never waxed my face...wouldn't do it. I shave. Anyway, I think you would have to use some type of cleanser that has a soluvent(sp?) to get wax off.

Waxing is a little better, although it seems finer when it grows back, maybe because all the hairs are not growing in at once!! Smile

I'm going to my ob/gyn this week to see if I can get on Yasmin birth control, which is supposed to diminish hair growth. I have a lot of fine white hair that is thick- enough that it appears I have a mustache if I let it grow! I also have some dark red hairs on my cheeks and a few on my chin. I wax about once a month and I hardly feel the pain anymore. Cool

I suppose I would have to use a cleanser with a solvent in it or a detergent like sodium laureth sulfate, but that denatures proteins and I would never use that on my skin!! Shock

It leaves a very dry layer of skin on top so you look dull and flaky.

But I will post something in the next months. I just ordered some Moom sugar wax so I wouldn't have difficulty with the wax residue from the Sally Hansen strips. Hope it works too!!!

REALLY ENJOY this forum!!!!! Everyone here is so nice and willing to help. I am currently just reading alot trying to soak in all the wisdom Cool

Also I'm waiting for the Linda Sy's Green Cream to arrive, I realize that while using retinol, I will have to take a break from it for about a week before waxing! Glad I read that somewhere! I ordered level 3 and will see how that goes, did not want to overdo it right away Very Happy

I know this is the best forum and everyone is so friendly! I'm still liking the green cream 6 so far, but I've only used it twice now. I don't put any around my eyes b/c I know how sensitive my skin gets, but it's still migrating there somehow so be careful! My eyelids are actually peeling today! Shock

Other than that I haven't had any tenderness or peeling, so I plan to up my usage from once a week to twice a week and see how that goes. It's so hard to be patient! Let me know how the GC 3 does for you too! Very Happy
