Hello, just a few weeks ago I did a review about Dermalogica product. I was so happy about the fact that I finally found the product my skin tolerate.... I continue to use Dermalogica and my skin started to break out with these little red pimples Crying or Very sad I didn't changed my diet, and I didn't try any new products. It must be that I reacted to Dermalogica Sad . I loved this product so much. I still try to find another fact that caused my skin to break out, but... I still planing to try Dermalogica again in the future, just to make sure that I am reacting to this product and not something else. I stoped using dermalogica for now. I don't know what to do with these pimples Crying or Very sad My skin is dry, red, and it started to peel off. I am reacting to a lot of natural products, like Dr. H., so I don't know what to do and what to use now Sad

Hi Laral,

I can relate to what you're going through. I just went through something similar myself. I had great expectations but a really bad reaction to Dr. H products. My skin was a mess.

I tried going back to my old products and trying a new product without much luck when another member here recommended doing ocm (oil cleansing method). I'm amazed that it actually seems to be making a huge difference in my skin. I've only been doing it a few days but already see good results.

It's very mild and soothing and you'll be amazed at how well it cleans your pores. Plus it's so affordable you can't go wrong by trying it.

Some other members here have had great success with it and posted their experiences. Check out the board under "what is ocm." There's directions and everything.

What ever you try, I wish you luck and hope you find something that works great for you. Smile

Hello Cloe,
thank you for your kind words. I also had a very bad reaction to Dr. H. product (you can see the review I gave in this forum). I tried OCM for a week. I was amazed that my pores were cleaning out. After one week or more my skin started to break out with the same little red pimples as after Dermalogica. I liked on the begining both products, and I will try in the future them again, because I hope that my skin reacted to something else Confused ...
It is very hard for me to find the product that I can use. My skin is sensitive, most of the time dry, sometimes gets very oily. I also have allergies to many products.
What creams, lotions are you using after your bad experience with Dr.H.?

I have been having the same thing using Jurlique, Yonka and everything else under the sun. They work for about 2 weeks or month then my skin turns red. I think I will look into simple things OCM and try that. My skin is normal/t-zone hyper sensitive 46yr old

lara: i was just wondering what dermalogica products you were using exactly???
i have found that sometimes its better to use say a cleanser that is meant for oily skin but a moisturiser that is a bit richer and creamier. i have acne prone/sensitive skin and i find that the oily skin or acne prone skin moisturisers just dry out my skin.

i would suggest trying the Dermalogica Barrier Repair (moisturiser) if you really want to keep using Dermalogica, i've heard amazing things about it.

it could well be that your breakouts are due to introducing new products and "over using" them... If you've got sensitive and reactive skin you need to introduce new products gradually and not use them everyday/every time you put products on your face. Slow incorporation!!!!

I can't use OCM every day, that gives me problems such as "fat lumps" on my jaw line...

Hi Laral,

The only thing I'm using to moisturize right now is a mixture of the castor oil and olive oil and or jojoba oil. Anything else I try makes my skin itchy and irritated.

My skin is still in a transitional period from having the bad reaction to Dr. H. and trying different things on my skin. Plus it's purging a little from the ocm. But overall, it seems like it's calming down and balancing out.

I'm sure that you're not but make sure you're not rubbing your face too much or too hard with a wash cloth or scrubs or anything because that will create those little red pimples and cause sensitive skin to react and break out.

Here's a response from Tia R to another member with a similar problem that may be beneficial for you...

Hi there!

Skin, skin, skin.
To me, products only help, not completely cure!

Make sure your diet is as good as your products. Eat lots of vegetables, 8 cups of water a day, whole grains, sufficient meat, and your skin will be glowing.
Just remember, what you eat shows up on your face! My sister recently got type 1 diabetes (her pancreas stopped producing insulin, therefore her sugar was very high). The sugar made her skin HORRIBLE. She had acne on her back, arms, face---and it was very , very red. White bread, milk, and many food items contain a lot of sugar these days. Try to balance it. Fruits have sugar, but it's a natural sugar that won't harm your skin (unless taken in huge amounts) unlike white refined sugar.

Trust me. I have to go along with my sister's diabetic diet, and both of our skin is glowing to the maximum. Her acne on her back is clearing up very fast, and her face is radiant. She has hardly any sugar at all (only when she goes hypoglecemic), therefore her skin is great!

If you claim that you're eating well with whole-grain, soya milk (try the organic stuff, don't ditch it until you try it! Very Happy), and veggies, then maybe your products are clogging your pores!

Try home-made recipes! There are quite a few on this forum.

Good luck, keep healthy and your skin will be as well!
-Tia

I know your skin is not as bad as Tia's sisters but diet can be a factor and I notice when I don't consume as many sugars my skin is better.

Ruth makes a good point too, about introducing new products slowly. Sensitive skin can get overloaded easily.

Sorry this is so long but I feel your pain and hope this helps. Smile

.

Hello Ruth,
I didn't "over used" this product. I am very careful when I try something new. I used a little bit of the product. My skin is dry, so I need to moisturize it every day. In order to do that I have to use product everyday. This is not a good idea to mix different products when you introducing the new one, because firstly, if you get reaction to product you would not know to which one you are reacting, secondly, you may react to the product for the reason that ingredients of both different products are not compatible to use together. The best way to try the new product in moderation. I usually do the test for allergy on my hand, before I use it. Sometimes I don't get allergic reaction using the product for 2 weeks, and after 2-3 weeks I get allergic reaction. That happens with my nuts allergy. I got tested every year at my doctors office with no reaction to it. This year I got huge reaction to all the nuts that I was previuosly tested negative Crying or Very sad.

I use Dermalogica Active Moist and Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance. I started with Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance, but I stoped using it every day, because it is for very dry skin ( which I have right now due to a winter). I continue to use Dermalogica Active Moist.

I did't try Dermalogica Barrier Repair yet.

When do you use it, mornings or nights? What do you use for an eye care?
Thanks

Yes, you are right! Rubbing your face will make your skinin break out.

Diet is also important. I don't eat sugar, only sometimes I eat dark chocolate Embarassed

lara: i used to use the dermalogica special gel cleanser which was fabulous and i used with the active toner and the active moist moisturiser...

the active moist moisturiser was horrible!! it dried my skin out and pretty much reversed any good affect that the special gel would've had. i'd suggest trying the barrier repair.
good luck..i know how horrible it is to have bad skin

I use it both AM and PM right now but my skin is still a little dry so I use extra. I don't want to add anything else into the mix at this moment because, like you, my skin will probably react. I also use Tourmaline Charged Radiance Fluid from Aveda once in a while because it helps to clear away the dead skin and make my complexion a little brighter.

I'm not using anything for eye care, just the oils. I've been putting castor oil on my lashes to keep them clean and moisturized. I have some fine lines and laugh lines and have tried a lot of different creams with no luck. But the oils really help moisturize my eye area.

I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible.
