Make time for Yourself

Take the time to do something just for yourself. Here are a few simple suggestions to get you through a tough day:
1.    Take a brisk ten-minute walk around the block.
2.    Stand up and do stretching exercises for a few minutes.
3.    Go into a quiet room, close the door and sit still for ten minutes. Breathe slowly and deeply, and let your mind clear.
4.    Read a chapter of a good book.
5.    Listen to your favorite CD or tape. Close your eyes and enjoy several songs.
6.    Fix yourself a warm, soothing beverage.

Make the Most of Waxing

Are you a bodybuilder? A model? An athlete or dancer? How about a teenager? Or perhaps you just have some unwanted hair. Consider waxing as an option. It’s inexpensive, and easier than tweezing! If you’d like to know more about waxing services, ask us about our waxing treatments designed especially for you.

Individualized Acne Treatments

Acne is a skin disorder that usually begins during puberty as part of the maturing process. The first signs of acne can appear when the body produces testosterone, the sex hormone released by males and females. Acne becomes a greater problem when pores are blocked by excess oil or bacteria. Treatments vary, depending on the severity and condition of the acne. Ask us about skin care treatments designed especially for you or someone in your family who may need help with an acne condition.

Ouch! I'm sunburn

Sunburns can be dangerous. There are several degrees of burns:
A first-degree sunburn may hurt. It causes redness and will heal within a few days, with some peeling. Treat with cool baths and mild moisturizers or hydrocortisone products. Avoid using “caine” products, which may cause sensitivity to other products.
A second-degree sunburn will blister and can be considered a medical emergency if a large area is affected. If the burn is severe and is accompanied by a headache, chills or a fever, seek medical attention immediately. Protect the skin from the sun while it heals and thereafter.
Several studies have associated severe childhood or adolescent sunburns with the development of malignant melanoma, a potentially lethal form of skin cancer, later in life. So, protect yourself! Apply a sunscreen every time you are exposed to the sun.

Catching' some rays
Sunlight consists of two types of harmful rays: UVB rays and UVA rays. The UVB rays are the sun’s burning rays which are blocked by window glass and are the primary cause of sunburn and skin cancer. UVA rays, which pass through window glass, penetrate deeper into the dermis, or base layer of the skin. UVA rays, along with UVB rays, are the culprits in premature wrinkling of the skin and also contribute to skin burning and skin cancer.

Sun Facts

Never underestimate the power of the sun! Even on a cloudy day, 80% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays pass through the clouds. And, the sun’s reflective powers are amazing— 17% on sand and 80% on snow.

Concerned about Cellulite ?

What causes cellulite? Four of the body systems that contribute to the formation of cellulite are the blood supply; the adipose tissue, which is made up of fat and other cells; interstitial liquid, which is what surrounds the adipose tissue; and the lymphatic system. If the normal function of these four systems gets off-balance, cellulite begins to develop. In menstruating females, there is a monthly decrease in the movement of the lymph and in the clearance of the interstitial liquid. As this process continues, the interstitial liquid comes to a standstill, begins to harden and traps toxins, causing the dimpled, orange peel-like appearance often associated with cellulite. Other contributors to cellulite include stress, anxiety, drugs and insomnia. Consuming substances laden with toxins, including alcohol, tobacco and caffeine, also contributes to cellulite formation. If you’re concerned about cellulite formation, think about beginning a cellulite treatment program—you’ll be pleased with the results!
