I hate them! Itchy, red ingrown hairs in the worst place of all-- the bikini line. I've tried a myriad of products, and only came close to one that really worked. It was a Sally Hansen gel/creme that I had last year, but guess what? They didn't make it this year! Or, at least, I didn't find it anywhere. I've tried Bikini Zone (waste-o-money) and aloe vera gel with lidocaine (cooling, but doesn't prevent ingrowns). I exfoliate before shaving, I use a sharp blade... still get bumps.

So a couple weeks ago I won the $50 gift certificate and ordered a couple moisturizers, then hit up the free products for forum members. There was this PFB stuff, and it sounded pretty good, added it to my cart.

This is some heavy duty stuff. It's not kidding around. First off, it stings on freshly shaved skin (the first ingredient is isopropyl alcohol), and it smells weird. It contains salicyclic, lactic, and glycolic (yes, all three) acids. But it really works! No bumps! No itchy, ugly ingrowns! It is quite drying, however, but nothing a swipe of moisturizer won't take care of.

This product was made in the US, comes in a nice sized 4 oz bottle, and is less than $22 here on EDS. Not bad, I say.

Thanks for the review! I've always been curious about this and how it compares to Tend Skin. Have you tried Tend Skin by any chance? I think Tend Skin might only be salicylic acid (I can't remember actually) but one thing is for sure - it sure can sting as well Smile (but also works well).

Is salicylic acid high up on the ingredients list, violetanne? I really need something like this, but have to be a bit careful because of my asthma. Sometimes I can risk a small amount of it with no problem.

If I can use it and it works, I think I'll probably marry you right here and now. Laughing

Hi Mabsy-- nope, I've never tried Tend Skin but was close to buying it at a local spa. I still might try it after my Vanish is gone. Though I really like the roller ball dispensing top on the Vanish-- very easy to use!

Majorb, salicylic is the third from the last ingredient in this, followed by gylcolic and lactic. If you use it, and it works, let me know... and we'll set a date. Very Happy

I'm going to risk it. If I only use it on my bikini line, then I can judge whether it's going to be enough to set off my asthma.

Besides, how could I turn down the chance of becoming a bigamist with Violetanne! Laughing

Well, I'm still using and still like it. I only use it on my bikini line after shaving and the skin there has improved in texture and tone.

Warning, though. It will cause some sloughing off of skin, but nothing a good body scrub won't fix.

Unfortunately, my skin must have been too sensitive to the ingredients, as it gave me a rather nasty burn. Mind you, Tend Skin was also unsuccessful for me - it didn't make my skin burn, but neither did it actually work, whereas the Vanish did seem to cut down on ingrowns.

im thinking of trying this product as i get little bumps from epilating as well. can someone tell me if this is to be used to treat the bumps when they are there or if it is also something to be used consistently to prevent them from occuring? is this to be used daily? what is the funny smell that people refer to? is it vinegar like what i rea about tendskin? i have never tried tendskin either.

Thanks, Violetanne. Just wondering why this brand is not shown in the list of brands at the page bottom or the shopping page??

Hi there. Just scrolling through and came across the discussion on ingrown hairs and razors bumps. I too suffer from both no matter whether I shave, wax or sugar so I thought I would respond and share some information on a brand that I have found and love after using a lot of different products. In the past I did use tendskin, then switched to pfb because I liked the roll on application method. I now use a brand called Follique. I switched because I found it to work as well if not better, and better yet have multiple product forms, I have tried them all and they all work fantastic! My preference is the follique original and the serum roll on. They also have an incrediable body lotion that I use all over my body. I keep the original in my bathroom and take the roll on with me in my purse. In my opinion anyone who suffers from ingrown hairs or bumps, these are must haves. Hope my find is helpful!

It's kind of funny this popped up, because I am finally running out of PFB, and it seems EDS doesn't sell it anymore! I guess I'll have tofind something else.

Raynalady, where do you buy Follique?

Just updating to say EDS DOES still carry PFB, because I just ordered it. I tried just going without, got a couple painful ingrowns on my bikini line, and started searching for it again. Luckily, I found it here. Eds also carries Follique...

I apply it directly after shaving, right out of the shower, then I moisturize over it after it's dried.

since not using it, my bikini line has become tougher to get smooth. Ack! I'll be so glad when it comes.

Violetanne, you have convinced me to try this! Has anyone tried it on their armpits? (I'm guessing that would really sting)
