One more question - why didn't you go for the NIA24 Intensive Recovery Complex?

I believe the Recovery Complex is for more mature and or dry skin. My skin is not dry, so the Recovery Complex would most likely be too heavy and cause me to break out. You would need to consider if your skin is needing an intense mousturiser hit or not.

Might I say that after using the Skin Strengthening Complex - I'm up to my 5th day now,and my skin is feeling absolutely delicious. I can't stop feeling my face. It feels soft and smooth, and the watery blemishes are starting to clear up. Still obviously a long way to go to see any major changes such as skin tone, hyperpigmentation and lines being diminished. Will keep you updated.

I have to add to anyone who purchases this product be very careful not to apply it around the eye area. I was a bit excited about using this product the first day and smoothed it all over my face and around my eyes - not having totally read the instructions first which advised NOT to do this. They stared stinging immediately. Then I tried to wash it off, however for the next 12 hours, my eyes were red and bloodshot and sore. Rolling Eyes

I love the Intensive for night, but it is a little heavy for some people under makeup. But it is definitely my favorite night cream by far...especially since it protects and repairs the skin barrier (unlike others that overwet it which causes MORE dehydration. so that you put more cream on and create a viscious circle).

If you do end up choosing the Nia24 line, let us know how it goes on this thread. The feedback's helpful for others deciding whether to try or not. All the best. Smile

Ladies, you definitely have me interested in this product. I have tried NIA24 sunscreen in the past and thought it ok. I ended giving it away to my sister since she had hyperpigmentation problems.

my question is how you are rotating the SSC with retin-a and your other creams? I am currently still using my Osea APC cream, a triple vitamin C serum and retin-a micro. I don't like mixing too many actives in one night.

i am concerned with the fragrance also but the benefits seem well worth it.

Hi skincareaddicted. I am currently using my vit c serum in the morning and finding it along with Hydrating B5 serum enough moisturiser for my face. I use the Nia25 at night as a night moisturiser, but am currently not able to get retin A here in Australia as it has been discontinued Shock

I was planning on using the nia24 as added moisture over the retin A when I start that treatment, but cannot obviously comment on how that would work as have not started with this regime yet.

I am just a new user of the Nia24 and just wanted to see if my skin liked it as a moisturiser first before integrating other actives alongside it. I actually think the Nia24 is making my skin break out in little red blemishes, so am still trialling this product for my skin.

I apologise if my comment is unhelpful to you, but I at least wanted to answer your question. All the best Smile

Lucretia,

Thank you for your reply. hearing about your thoughts is very helpful. I just received my SSC and used it today in the morning and night. It is pretty moisturizing by itself, I don't think I will layer my Osea APC on top. I am not very break out prone, but would like to isolate using one active product at a time. I think I will try SSC every few days then alternate with my vitamin C serum. it is quite hot where I am so i will be giving retin-a a rest til fall really settles in.

For the retin-a, have you tried ordering from one of the online sites like inhouse pharmacy?

Also, the fragrance was not bad at all. It is pretty light and rather pleasant.

Hi skincareaddicted. That's great you didn't find the smell a problem at all. It's probably just me, I have a ridiculously sensitive nose. My son says if I had a super power it would be 'super smell detector' Laughing Laughing Laughing

I can become so effected by certain scents that I begin to have a physical reaction. My son can't use certain deodorants & we have to be very careful about choosing any products with scents in them in our household as I can become quite sick. Super, super sensitive. Rolling Eyes
Although I really hated the smell of this at first, I didn't have a reaction to it and I have now become accustomed to it, so all is good.

Yeah, I agree.

Thanks for your suggestion skincareaddicted as it is not something I even thought about. I actually don't know if we can purchase such a product online as we need a prescription from our doctor for retin a here in Australia.
I'm going to talk with my doctor about using a similar product first and if we can't sort something out I will certainly have a look into the online pharmacy.

Hi Lucretia,

You will not need a prescription to order retin-a online from inhouse pharmacy. There are a couple other reliable sites that members here use but their names elude me at the moment.

Anyone else still using SSC? I, too, would love to hear your results/thoughts on the product. With SSC and my new Babor Sensational Eyes cream, I feel quite revitalized Smile

I´ve felt some horrible itching in my neck on the first 4 days that I used the ssc. It was very unpleasant. I have also been experiencing an unusual dryness but I´m still in my first week of trial so I wonder if this will go away?
I´ve always had oily skin but suddenly my skin needs a lot more moisture than it did before. Any one had experienced this on the first week they tried the ssc?

regards Smile

Could you have an allergy to something in the cream? I've heard that niacin can cause some reactions for some people. I find the NIA24 products to be drying too, especially the sunscreen.

I dont think I´m allergic. Ive been topping up my vitamin C serum with a heavy moisturizer and the skin is starting to adjust and feels less dry but only yesterday it started getting better.it says in the leaflet that came with the trying products that skin may take 10 days to adjust. i hope that after the 10 days this goes away. Are you still using the product ShastaGirl?

No, I'm not using the SSC any longer or the sunscreen. I found they just weren't moisturizing enough for me. I do still have some of the scrub and use that a couple times a week.

I passed the sunscreen on to my son, it works better for him since his skin is oiler.

Glad to hear your skin is doing better with it.

Hey there lisocas, I had some itching that lasted over a week aswell. I had it on my neck and my chest as I have also been applying it there. This passed though. I believe it has something to do with the actives in it.

Snowymyn also experienced some peeling.

I live in a high humidity area and therefore find the consistency of this product just right. However when the air was dry there for a few nights, I did need to add another moisturiser over the top of it as my skin just didn't feel adequately moisturised with just the nia24.

The intensive recovery complex in the nia24 range is a heavier formulation, maybe this will moisturise your skin a bit better that the ssc?

Has anyone tried the NIA Rapid Exfoliating serum? I'd like some feedback on that product!

Hi, I'm new here. I've been reading this forum getting tons of info on my latest kick..... dying and growing eyelashes (sounds kinda funny put that way Confused ) Anyway, I've been using the NIA line for a year now and thought I'd share my experiences.
First off, I had considerable sun damage on my face (brown spots/patches). I spoke to a plastic surgeon about this. She told me about a treatment called Levulin. Won't get into that now, but the short version is it repairs the damage and greatly reduces the possibility of skin cancer. With that last reason, I easily justified the cost and treatment plan. I was also told I have rosacea at that time. It mostly consists of easy blushing, and frequent acne-looking breakouts around mouth, chin, and nose-- worse than when I was a teenager!
The levulin treatment did reverse A LOT of the damage. I started the NIA last year at the same time. I use the full line. After I wash, I use an antioxidant. Right now I'm using a 30% vit C cream (Revision), I've also used an oil/serum type vit C and Revaleskin-a coffeeberry cream (I love the smell!) Then I use the skin recovery, eye cream and intensive repair. I do this am and pm. Notice my skin is drier since the levulin, pretty normal before.
Some advice I was given (with my easily irritated rosacea) is to always use my fingers to spread/scrub with the facewash and pat face dry-- never rub it dry. It's amazing how much that helped Idea . I had a lot of flaking and thought I needed to exfoliate more, so I thought rubbing dry helped when I was really making it worse!! I have the exfoliating scrub also, but use it rarely, once a week or less. I only use it in the shower and again, spread it with my fingers without being too aggressive. I still have issues with the rosacea, but I'm still learning in that area. Skin is soft, no sun damage and a reduction in fine lines around my eyes--only place i really have any. I was also warned about mixing retin A products with the niacin. Not sure if that warning is a basic warning or specific to my skin. I plan to continue to use this line. Fortunately the size of each item makes it run out at different times, so the cost is dispersed. In the last year, I have replaced some items only once and a few twice. It doesn't take much and really lasts.
I know this is long--sorry, hope it helps someone.

Hi jaxielynn, welcome to EDS!!! wave This is such a cool place to come and do some investigating on products and share your experiences also. You'll learn alot!!

What a wonderful and indepth post that was.

I also use the Nia24 (Skin Strengthening) along with Vit C and Revaleskin products (nightcream & eye cream)

Wow, great tip, thanks for sharing. I'm going to give this a go.

I have heard this too. I think I may have read it here on EDS?? Maybe someone will chime in and let us know if this holds any truth or not?
When I was investigating a new routine for my skin that included the Retin A at night, I decided upon the Nia24 SSC to go over my Vit C serum in the AM and the Revaleskin as my night moisturiser after the Retin A in the PM.
I was about to start using the lowest strength of Retin A, .025% when it became discontinued where I live.
In the end, I find I use the Nia24 SSC in the PM (as no Retin A in routine, yet) and just use the Vit C serum in the AM and add Revaleskin if added moisture is needed. It's not heavy, so is fine for day use.

I thought the dryness was getting better but is not Sad My skin feels and looks like paper. I still have the marks of the spots that got when I started nia24 (aparently spots are normal at the beginning). I wonder if anyone experienced this and then had better results with the Intense Recovery? It seems too expensive and I dont want to waste money in something that is going to make my skin feel dry and itchy.

thanks Smile

Okay, so I thought I would do a little update on my experience with how long the Nia 24 SSC has lasted.

I started on the 4th of Sept and have just squeezed out my last amount tonight. By my calculations 1 tube of this has lasted me exactly 11 weeks.

Saying that, I have not been stingy with it in the least. Have many times, actually squeezed out more than I needed to use. I have used this mainly once a day on face, neck and chest area. However I have on quite a few occasions used this twice a day. So there you have it, in my opinion for such a small amount and in regards to the price, I believe it has lasted quite well and will buy it again.

I'm still using the Nia, still loving it. I problem that I've been having is my facing being dry. I work in a hospital, where the air is very dry. I live in Georgia with plenty of humidity. Trying to balance mositure and oil.

I recently went to California where it is much dryer and had more problems with dry skin. I don't find applying more Nia or thicker coats helpful, as they build up and tend to roll off. I use the product sparingly to prevent this.

I bought a tub of CeraVe for my dry legs. Its the cream not lotion form. It goes on amazing thin and smooth. I had read where many people used this on their faces, so I tried it. I used all my Nia products like normal, let that set for 10-15min, then patted on a light coat of CeraVe on my entire face and neck. That worked wonders. No oily skin and no dry flaking skin by the end of my 12hr shift either. Not sure if this will work when I'm back home in Georgia, but it works wonders in California. It's not heavy feeling at all either. I almost feel like it "holds" the Nia on my skin instead of allowing it to dry/evaporate.

Bonus, a large tub from Target is $15 and I use on whole body. There is a lotion in a pump and thinner consistency, but the cream is good for me right now. In the summer I may switch.
