I am using sunscreen, but I am little confused that when to apply sunscreen. Whether I should use sunscreen after moisturizer of before moisturizer?

Depends what type you are using, but as a general rule, the sunscreen should be the last step in your regime before you step outside.

Hi,

I use a physical sunblock 365 days a year and apply it to my hands, arms, neck, chest and face. I currently use a Sierra Mountain Sun Cream made by Winter Sun in Flagstaff, Arizona.

My primary protection is sun protective clothing.

I just wrote a blog about sun protective clothing with photos. I am about 56 in the scarf photo and am grateful to have protected my skin.

Take good care of yourself,

Make sure to apply a generous amount of sunscreen to your face after your moisturizer has dried. Then, wait at least 15 minutes for your sunscreen to properly absorb into your skin, according to American Academy of Dermatology. After that, you can go ahead and put on makeup.

If it's a chemical sunscreen, use it on clean skin. Let it absorb then your regular moisturiser.

If it's a physical sunscreen, use it as the last step (eg after serum and moisturiser. Blot off excess before applying sunscreen)

You can always top up sun protection by using mineral powder through out the day.

you should definitely use it after moisturiser - and try choosing a phycical instrad of chemical sunscreen.

As per me, it's good to apply sunscreen after a serum or moisturizer.

I use sunscreen after exfoliating it using an AHA peel. However, the usage also depends on the SPF of the sunscreen and your skin type. I suggest you study about the sunscreen before using them. here are some of the best educational article I found:

I've always read that chemical sunscreens should be applied on clean skin- that is no occlusive on top from moisturisers and serums. The logic behind this is that chemical sunscreens need to be absorbed into the skin to actually work....is this incorrect?

This is what I have always read also but if I use a sunscreen with both chemical & physical I use it on top.

I don't know the exact reason why but every skin doctor advises to wash face before using the sunscreens. Maybe it is because of hygiene purpose, or maybe because they simply want the sunscreen to be more effective.

I use AHA exfoliants to simply cleanse my face, and if you doubt my decision you should see this blog and how they defined it https://zovon.com/hot-topics/aging/alpha-hydroxy-acids/

Some people say that BHAs work better, but I don't think they'll be as effective for people with dry skin like me. So yeah, I use AHA exfoliant peels to wash my face and then I use Sunscreen! The best protection for skin!
