Hello ladies. A new member here. I searched all over the internet about my concern and can not find anything informative. First of all, my apologies for my English. It is my second language after all Razz
So, is anyone else had a bad time combining dermarolling and Retin-A? I had such a bad reaction. Let me point out here that I used 0.5mm dermaroller and 0.1% Retin-A. I burned my face SO bad. It been 4 months now and I still flare up time to time. I afraid it will never go away. It looks like rosacea now. I don't know how to "fix" my skin now. I don't have medical insurance and can not afford to go and see a specialist. My skin is leathery, red, swollen and scaly the same time. Hydrocoritzobe 1% (OTC) helps only temporary. Just wanted to share experience and spread the word out there. DO NOT USE DERMAROLLER AND RETIN-A TOGETHER.
Stay beautiful, ladies!!!

You should NOT apply retinoids to irritated or damaged skin, and DR-ing penetrates the epidermis.
It would be OK to use after at least a few weeks have passed.

Thank you, MaryLetson for your reply. What is DR-ing? No, I still have some irritation. It been 4 months and my redness and drieness went away, but last Friday I used Differin and OMG, my skin irritated again. Now I’m nursing it back to normal by applying sour-cream, olive oil, coconut cream and I bought Rosheship oil serum 2 days ago and started to put 3 drops of it into my CeraVe nightly moisturize lotion. So, I am taking more natural approach now.The redness going away slow, but I think I’ll stay away from any vit.A products for a while. Could it be an allergic reaction?

Vitamin D topically is amazing for tissue repair. You can buy Vit D oil on amazon or if you take vit d. capsules stick a pin in it and drain the oil to apply to your skin.
I had a cyst removed from my nose. I was given a cream from my derm to aid in my recovery. I used Vit D instead and there is no evidence left from the cyst removal. It healed in half the time. Give it a try. Good luck.

charlenepalf, thank you very much for your advice. Today is exactly a week since my red spot inflamed again, but it looks a lot better than last Saturday. I’ve been applying coconut oil, olive oil and mix 3 drops of rose ship oil into my moisturizer at night. I have no clue what exactly helped me (maybe just simply the time itself) but today my red spot is not noticeable. My skin is actually brownish now and looks very thin, leathery and dry. I am not putting anything for a week and I want to try out bee venom overnight cream next Friday. I’ll keep you posted if I had any reaction to it.
Is anyone knows how can I insert picture of my face to this post?

Yikes. I dermarolled my chest and neck today for first time in years. Then I slathered on some Retin A .1%. I had my concerns but figured I'd try it anyway. Sometimes I'm dumb like that. Now I'm really worried about what is going to happen next!!!

For beginners you should start with 0.025%,which is much more tolerable than 0.1% Retin A. Apply it when your skin is completely dry. Never apply it in A.M. Do wear sunscreen(spf>30)while you're on retin a. Also you'll need a good moisturizer to combat the dryness.

I dermarolled 4 years with a 1.5mm roller, and my 3cm scar is gone, totally unnoticible. I also used retin a after dermarolling but the longest "side effect" phase was a week. I can't see your face so I don't know if you were exaggerating. There're enormous posts, research etc online about retin a and dermarolling. Do you own before trying something new.

It turned out fine. Nothing happened at all. I've been using .1% retin-A micro fairly regularly for years. I was concerned it might be too much with the dermarolling, but nope. Nothing but a little redness for a day or so. I forgot about it. I guess I should do another round.

Good advice Viclana!

I did a few patch tests not too long ago.
When I applied retin-a after microneedling it was red for a week and pink for a month.
Without retin-a just pinkness for a day.

I do use retin-a but stop a day before, and start two days later, and have had no problems.
