Dear forum members,

I have done quite some research regarding good and useful ingredients. I have had this skincare regimen for quite a while and never had any irritation. It looks like this:

AM:
- facewash (pH of 5.5)
- BHA (2% from Paula's Choice)
- AHA (14% from Alpha Skin Care, no waiting time between the two since they are both of similar pH)
- peptide serum (after 30 minutes)
- moisturizer
- sunscreen

PM:
- facewash (pH of 5.5)
- Tretinoin 0.1% (cream form called Reticor)

My question is as follows. I would like to incorporate a vitamin C product (which contains tetra-C and not the unstable Ascorbic Acid) into my regimen and I am afraid to "buffer" the tretinoin. On the other hand, if I use all these products in the morning I'm afraid they won't have any effect due to too much layering. So how do I go about this? Am I also using the correct products?

I would really appreciate any input. Thanks so much.

Vitamin A is measured by IU (international units), not concentration.

It's action is governed by the amount that is applied and in contact with the skin. If you apply the same amount of cream in 0.1% concentration, it won't be buffered or diluted down by tetra Vitamin C that you subsequently apply. Since tetra Vit C and Retinoic acid are both oil soluble, they will be compatible.

For your morning routine, you could simplify by using GLYDERM 12% which is a cream 2% salicylic and 10% glycolic in a low pH that will work even better. I would pop your peptide serum on first, follow by Glyderm.

Good luck.
