| Maybe I'm too sensitive, but there is a real good chance I'm not going to purchase anything (skin care, makeup, or anything else for that matter) from a salesperson who starts the conversation with the phrase 'as we get older'. I don't need any negative reinforcement. |

I get where you are coming from, and I too was once of the same viewpoint, but I've changed my perspective somewhat. You see, its only negative if we construe it to be negative. The other thing I'm reminde done time of Joan Collin's book about her friends (all glamourous ladies 50 plus) where one of them said, I don't mind getting older - as its better than being dead.
That has always stuck with me. Now the other thing is that its not always "negative". It can actually be a good thing to be in acceptance of wher eyo currently are.

| I get far too sensitive about comments like that as well. I mean, there ARE certain things that change "as we get older," but there's a time and a place to use phrases like that. |

I agree with you! When I was on vacation in property on the French Riviera bought through Tranio I went for a walk and saw a local shop with cosmetics, decided to look for a new cream. Local consultant approached me and looked so close to my face (like 15 centimeters away only) and said "Ok! I see based on your skin you are over 25 year old! Let me show you some products". I just went out of the shop  |

I really prefer to do my research online and then purchase (without a sales assistant) or online.
It is not an age thing, but I feel most of the sales assistant are NOT knowledgeable about my type of picky skin.
The worst is when I ask a simple question and they don't know. Rather than say they don't know; they read the package to me! |

If you feel affected about then it is best if you buy stuff online.
I usually get my makeup and skincare supplies on the internet as I don't like it when a sales lady tells me to get things that I don't need or want. |
