Skinceuticals Ultimate UV Defense Sport SPF45 , its pretty good i say.
I have normal to combination skin and sometimes dry patches too. But this cream is amazing !!! Its perfect. After application, its NOT OILY, NOT OVERLY MATT to dehydrate dry skin and somehow gives my face a clean look. And i use very little make up.
So now i'm tempted to try out the other products this line. Any suggestions and advice ... i'm all ears !!!

I would say proactiv Oil free moisture with SPF 15. It's really good for oily skin, but has SFP15 to protect the skin from the sun. There are oil absorbers for it also. |

hola!
i love skinceuticles, i tried their vitimin c serum 10 and had great results - it evens out the skin tone and gives me a rosy complexion. I used it in the mornings and follwed it by Hydra 5 B Gel. So my routine in the morning was:
SkinCeuticles Simply Clean Cleanser
Phytomer Toner
Eye Cream
Serum 10
Hydra5B Gel
Murad Tinted Mois. SPF15
I highlly recommend their products!! |

The BEST sunscreen I have ever tried is LA ROCHE POSAY (by Lo'Real group). It is SPF 60, light/non-greasy, & just absorbs without any 'ghostly' or 'whitish' appearance. It is patented for its 'mexoryl' an ingredient that blocks UVA rays. I believe there are very few sunscreens that block UVA & UVB (most sunscreens block ONLY UVB, not UVA).
The only thing I dont like is their price, which is around $45 for a small tube (think it is 15ml). Also, it is not sold in USA. I bought mine from a Canadian website.
I give this product a ***** rating & highly recommend it. |

Soki, does Skinceuticals leave a white cast? What about leaving skin flaky?
I have quite recently had horror story with Obagi (see my todays posting)and am now really careful with new products...
Sweet Angel , I remember trying La Roche Possay a couple of years ago and I was white afterwards but I heard they changed the formula...I am very careful now
Also, many people find La Roche too shiny and flaky.
Isnt Ambre Solaire very similar to La Roche Possay but cheaper? |

Hi Puma7:
They introduced a new version, LA ROCHE POSAY FLUIDE EXTREME ANTHELIOS SPF 60. Not greasy, no white, ghost-like effect. It is beautiful (it makes my skin look beautfiul too) |

Hello Sweet_anel,
I have LA ROCHE POSAY FLUIDE EXTREME ANTHELIOS SPF 60 too. It took me a while to get it. Like you, I am not too keen about its price either. I received the produce a month or two ago. For some reason, it made my melasma darker at the end of the day, so I only used it twice. It seems that it did not give me enough protection against the sun. I saw some good reviews about it. They all say the same thing about the sunscreen as you. Did I do anything wrong? Why didn't it give me enough protection? I really like to use it again, so it is not wasted. It is very expensive for a sunblock product, because we usually use a lot of sunblock cream on our faces.
Thank you,
Rose |

Anessa and Shiseido. I've been using both of these and they are amazing. I have very fair skin, red hair and freckles, and with these my freckles don't even come out!!!! My skin is a full makeup shade lighter than it was a year ago. |

Hi Colleen,
What are the exact names of Anessa and Shiseido sunscreens you use? There are several different kinds of sunscreen they make.
Thank you,

I use Anessa SPF 43 mild sunscreen (face) - this one has physical blockers only so it's good for sensitive skin. It dries very matte and I use this when I'm not wearing foundation as it seems to even out my skintone a bit. I also use Shiseido SPF 50 Lotion for face and body (in US it's sold as 55 - same product). It also dries very matte and goes great under makeup. They also have an SPF55 Cream for Face but this is intended for drier skin (or maybe those who skip moisturizer). The lotion is twice the size for the same money, so it's a better deal!! |

Colleen,
Thank you for the timely reply. I found that Anessa was manufactured by Shiseido too. I am going to the Shisedo counter to check it out.

I've tried Skinceutical spf 20 and really like the texture and how it sinks into my skin without looking whitish. However I'm not too sure about its sunscreen effect as I've noticed new or darkening sun spots on my face lately! I've placed more sunscreen on my face but I guess it doesn't help much. Maybe I should upgrade to a higher spf? I'm asian, fair, have combination - normal to oily skin and in my late twenties. I'm thinking of trying Skinceutical spf 30 - should i get the physical or ultimate? Or has anyone tried DDF sunscreen? |

hey jynkelbell - go with Ultimate, less greasy, contains both a physical and chemical suncreen.
Only go with the physical if you have very very sensitive skin which can't tolerate any chemicals whatsoever. |

Have you or anyone tried the Shiseido Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen SPF50+ 2004 Silver or the Gold line? Any differences in comparison to the mild 43 SPF? |

Yes I have. The ingredients follow. It feels awesome on my skin, but I didn't choose it b/c others are really intended for faces and I thought their ingredients were be less irritating. Also, according to the Japanese UVA rating system, this is only PA+ which is the lowest - the highest being PA+++. So this is low on UVA protection and that's what I'm most concerned about - ie. tanning!!
The silver and gold just vary in that one is waterproof, the other is not, I forget which.
This is intened for babies as it uses physical blockers only. B/c it's made in Japan, the consistence is awesome, not whiteish or streaky, and should sink into your skin - not like the physical sunscreens you see in the US that leave a film on your skin. I'd say this is comparable to the Anessa 43 - same ingredients, although this is PA++, which is still pretty good.

Are there any PA+++ Anessa's available here in the USA, or somewhere online that I can buy? Also, I read somewhere that you have to have a special product in order to wash off the Gold or Silver sunscreen (whichever one is waterproof). |

You can buy these products online at this link.
It's a little hard to navigate, so do a search for Anessa or Shiseido. There is a cleanser that they sell to go with these products, but I didn't see it on the list. Also, Shiseido sells one at the dept. store counter, it's called "ultra Cleansing oil". All it is, is a oil based cleanser, any one will do the same job if you can't find it. I don't use it though as I'm afraid the oil will bread me out - my Cetaphil works fine.

My favorite is La Mer spf 18 and Darphin vitaprotection spf 15. I know they don't have enough protection but they don't give a white cast and no break outs for sure. They also an excellent makeup base. I'm totally in love with them. for summer, i also use lancome uv epxert spf 50 which you could only get access in asian countries. |

Rose--if you're in the states, anessa isn't available at U.S. cosmetic counters yet.
Soki--to boost your the effectiveness of your sunscreen, i suggest using a skinceuticals serum witn vitamin C. they have a few in their lines worth checking out. i currently am using the ferulic plus C + E serum. it's expensive but the protection is worth it of course |
