Hi all,

Sorry, don't know if this is an appropriate topic, but I am curious to know the pros and cons of having it done.

Any feedback would be appreciated Embarassed

I had my first before x mas...I'm obviously confused cos I thought it was everything except a 'landing strip'. The girl in the salon said that that was a hollywood and a brazillian left two thin strips of hair either side of the vagina as well as above...basically it was an extreme bikini wax.
I had the hollywood in the end, was pretty quick and not too painful and it took 3 weeks for really noticable regrowth.
I'm not going back to that salon again though as it wasn't a particularly nice experience due to the salon itself Sad

gillette venus for me!

But would you consider a permanent one ? like the lazer removal down there ?

In theory, it should feel cleaner, but the fear I have are :

1, if the new hair be itchy and scratchy
2, if it's permanently done, will it be better to have some coverage when I get old and saggy ?

Embarassed This is embarassing, but I figure it's part of our beauty upkeeping too, no ?

I asked the specialist at the salon this afternoon, she said it will take 9 laser treatments to get it all gone, and she has TONS of customers doing that (all ages), and none EVER complain or regret about the EVERYTHING GONE approach.

I might seriously consider it now....

That's why the specialist said ONLY shave, don't wax bc of the ingrown hair issue too.

My mom, who is 83, never had even a regular bikini wax in her life, has gone pretty much bald "down there." She says her friends have too, So, you may need a toupe for "coverage!" Laughing Very Happy

this is a "fun" topic.

Have to say I really like everyone here on the forum, we are all pretty open, so feel free to ask away!!!!

I only had a bikini wax once, and it hurt so bad, I will never get it done again!!!! It was self tourture!!!!!

I've heard that laser is very expensive and doesn't always work. I'm getting electrolysis done right now on my eyebrows and am happy with the results this far.But can't imagine having my bikini area done Shock
I use Nair on my sensitive bikini line and get good results without any unpleasant side effects (no ingrown hairs, no pain and no big $$$).

oh, and my mom has gone bald "down there" too. Rolling Eyes She is trying to find supplements to grow it back!!!! In her day, pubic hair was attractive!!!!

see that's the thing, I finally shaved them all off tonite, to get a preview, to see if I like it. I feel very clean, but I am not sure if one day I will want some hair back. Really not sure, looking at the mirror, I think it makes me look less of a woman....but it's soooo CLEAN !!! Shock

I certainly will not have the time and patience to shave it EVERYDAY, so the decision is either let them grow back or laser them all off...... Question

I consider this as a life-changing decision.

My boyfriend has always refused to have sex with women who have waxed themselves completely bare – he says it makes him feel like a child-molester because the woman looks prepubescent!! He doesn’t mind the landing strip, but completely bald is a no-no...just something else you might want to consider!

well how about not lazering it all? just to the point of skimpy knickers, that way not totally bald, just um, tidier.

Anyone else find the prospect of discussing pubic hair design weird? Cool

laser gets my vote. I've had the bikini area and underarms done. The effects are good and after 7 treatments most hair is gone with just a few 'stragglers' left. However I've not gone for the 'brazilian' - just too dramatic!! Just gone for tidier and great to be able to put a swimming costume on at any time without thinking must shave/wax first.

Yes it is expensive but my laser treatment has cost less than 3 years total waxing costs...and painful ingrown hairs are a thing of the past.

would it be too rude to ask roughly how much it has cost and how you chose your salon?

Brutal question Shock How do you shave yourself or use nair on the underneath part- if you know what I mean? Not just the traditional pubic hair area? Or do you? Shock

You don't -- unless you want a wicked chemical burn and be "closed for business" for a few days while it heals!!

ok, here's my thought TODAY (keeps changing)....

I can already feel the beard-like feel down there, and I believe the itchiness will come soon Crying or Very sad

Honestly, shaving myself down there was not easy at all, and I will not even think about using the Nair stuff, just don't feel right putting chemicals there.

I agree with the lighter version versus the all-off approach, looking at the mirror again, I look like a fresh piece of boneless chicken. The 9 treatment package costs about $1000 and they never expire, I will call them again to see if I can pay PER treatment, that way, I can stop once I achieve the ideal "haircount" Bad Grin

Still deciding, so any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Should I even ask my BF for his opinion ?? Confused

you haven't mentioned it to him yet? I would before you do it. Or at least see what he thinks of the shave job before doing anything permanent. Do you need time to heal after laser before ummm..you know (can't say if there's children on here).

My BF is also not into the bare down there thing.

at least it'll grow back if he doesn't like it...now if he does...well, then you have an idea.
