I have very dry skin. In fact, it's so dry that I can use a very rich body cream on it in the morning and then find that it's dry again a couple of hours later.
So far, I've been using Palmer's Cocoa Body Lotion, which is decent stuff and smells fabulous. It manages to keep the dryness at bay for several hours. I also occasionally treat myself to Kiehls Crème de Corps, which was the best product I'd so far found for good absorption and keeping my skin comfortable for most of the day - the trouble is that it's too expensive for me to use every day.
I read raves elsewhere about Aveeno Skin Relief Body Lotion and decided to try it, doubting very much that it would live up to all of the claims. However, I'd already had good experiences with Aveeno body products before and thought it was worth a try.
As far as I know the Skin Relief Lotion is fairly new to the UK market. I'd certainly not seen it before, although it may already have been widely available elsewhere in the world.
This product is, without a doubt, the best body lotion I have ever used in my life. It absorbs brilliantly well, meaning that you don't have to wait too long before dressing. More importantly, though, it keeps my skin feeling baby soft and smooth all day and night long. I dare say that the effect would last even longer than that if I didn't bathe or shower!
It's unscented and is kind to my eczema/dermatitis-prone skin. The only shame is that I miss the wonderful chocolate scent of Palmer's, but the Aveeno outperforms it supremely in ever other aspect. It even makes the Kiehls CdC pale in comparison, performance-wise - and, of course, it is considerably cheaper.
If you have dry body skin, then do yourself a favour and try this. I'm completely blown away by it. |

| Doesn't cure eczema does it? I tried a tube eons ago when I had eczema and it didn't do nothing, not even stop the itch. In the end, only cortisone (steroid) worked. |

As far as I know, there's nothing that will actually cure eczema - once you have the condition, it's pretty much forever. However, the Aveeno is very soothing, gentle and non-drying on my skin, which seems to help me greatly. I've found that many body products (especially those containing SLS) exacerbate my eczema and I'm convinced that they may even have sparked flare-ups.
Was it the Skin Relief version that you tried, rather than the Daily lotion? The Skin Relief is so much more effective, I've found.
As you say, sometimes the only thing that will relieve a bad flare-up is steroidal medication, but it's best if you are able to try to minimise the threat of them in the first place - although I know that's not always possible, unfortunately.
When my eczema is during a flare-up phase, I've had a fair bit of success with Diprobase Cream, which I believe is available over the counter as well as from doctors in the UK.
I certainly make no claims whatsoever that this stuff cures eczema, but it makes my own eczema-prone skin feel soothed and comfortable and is absolutely fantastic at keeping dry skin at bay. You don't need to have eczema to try it! |

I don't remember exactly as that was more than 10 years ago. I bought it because I was told that oatmeal helps to soothe the itch even for eczema. However, I gave in and used cortisone after all else failed and applying it 3 times a day helped to heal the weepy rashes and somehow my eczema dried up and healed.
I still have no idea what caused the eczema but I am sensitive to a lot of things like certain food (MSG, now it's chilli), medication (aspirin, certain antibiotics) and now I keep getting 'bite'/cobweb sensations which I'm attributing to either the stress I'm going through or/and my body detoxing itself. The eczema was probably due to stress + the heat/humidity as my eating habits have not changed for the last 20 odd years and yet I don't get eczema anymore! It afflicted me for about 2-3 years then was gone. |

I did try other Aveeno products in the past and they were somewhat soothing, but none of them was as good as this Skin Relief. I suspect that you might notice a difference with this one. However, I'd recommend it rather as a fantastic product for people with very dry skin and certainly also for people who (like me) are prone to eczema - but not as something that will stop a bad flare-up in its tracks. Whilst I hate using steriodal stuff, sometimes it's the only thing that will work, unfortunately.
Yes, I'm sure that there are certain things which can cause the flare-ups, and stress is a classic example. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if certain foods, etc, also played a part. I found that avoiding soaps and lotions containing SLS has helped me greatly and I haven't had a really bad flare-up since I stopped using them. (My hands were the worst - they'd get so sore and bleed.)
I'm glad to hear that your eczema appears to have cleared up and will keep my fingers crossed that it stays away. It's a horrible condition. Sounds as though you're successfully managing to avoid your trigger factors, which is brilliant!  |

It is a terrible condition! I remember the sores would start to heal and scab but then the itch would start again, and only scratching it till it bleeds, would provide relief of any sort. And you don't know the meaning of relief till you've scratched an eczema sore 
I'm not surprised that SLS is a major contributor of your eczema since our hands are the most frequently washed part of our anatomy, and I wash my hands at least ten times a day  I guess heat and sweating played a part in mine as well, since the sores happened in body folds, like the wrists and back of the knee. Poor circulation also slows down the delivery of oxygen to the skin and retards detoxification, should we consume anything not in agreement with our system.
I am very careful in using steroids as well but if it works, why prolong the agony? I make sure I spread a very thin layer, the minimum amount that would provide relief and continue till the sore dries completely and heals.
Most importantly, be happy and the body will heal itself. I hope the best for you  |

| This is my staple, too, especially in the dry season. I, too, suffer from eczema. Have you tried Aveeno's eczema line? It's a bit pricey for their line, but so worth it. |

I've tried the Aveeno Baby Eczema lotion on my kids and it didn't help with their Eczema.
La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume AP is pretty good. |

Aveeno's my best body lotion.
It's easy to absorb and has no smell. I don't like any perfume in body lotion. |

| My skin is also dry, but it's not dry now, because every time I take a bath, I apply oil to my body, which makes my skin feel comfortable. You can try it. I use tea oil. |
