Thanks for the reply Dr.J. I agree what works for one does not always work for all, as I said I am not expecting miracles, although I'd love to find that.
You answered my real concern, 3-6 months. I see too many reviews that a) aren't long enough to really know b) the reviewer is too young to address aging issues. While I appreciate them, they don't ever really answer the question.
Financially we all spend a small fortune on skincare in total, I concentrate on this because your line is a bit different ($310.00 every ten weeks tops, is a bit steep for all, and I know you've somewhat addressed this). I and most spend x here and there and add this and that, but if I wanted to see this work, its a commitment, so I mean no offense on the cost, I just don't want to spend $310 once, if I really need to spend it for 6 months to give it a fair trial. |

Hi all, Off topic posts asking DrJ to critique other (competing) brands and/or their products have been removed. As far as I can see, nothing good can come of it and we would rather this thread remain on topic and pleasant. Please do not post any comments to the moderation itself. Thank you. |

DrJ - do the AnteAGE serum and accelerator have the same % of stem cells in them? I see that it is the first ingredient in both products. But does one have more stem cells than the other?
Thanks! |
Neither contains stem cells, but rather stem cytokines produced by them. Concentration is higher in the serum. |
DrJ, can you give us the rationale for why the main active ingredient (stem cytokines) is in both products? If the cytokines in the serum are loaded to achieve maximum effectiveness then are the additional cytokines in the accelerator really necessary, or are both products required to get the most out of the cytokines? |

If you are following the recommendation to apply both products 2X per day, wouldn't it seem that we should get enough cytokines from just the serum?
Yet some are only using one of the products. |

I believe he shared his rationale earlier in the thread.
(Paraphrasing).. The serum on it's own will just take longer to give optimal results.. Using the accelerator gives a little more oomph, and the additional ingredients in the "A" work in (synergy?) to get the most benefit from the cytokines.. (Aid penetration perhaps?)
Or something like that.. It made more sense when DrJ said it... |

Kassy said it well for me. Either product could stand on its own, but they work together synergistically. The cytokines in the Serum are optimized for faster penetration to get in and saturate cell receptors and initiate the cascade of events that flow from the regenerative cytokine profile. The AnteAge Accelerator is more "slow release", helping to maintain receptor saturation over 10-12 hours. |

New thread to continue a discussion rileygirl and were having. We were disagreeing (in a nice way) on brands that sell only through doctors. I took a rabbit trail down the skin lightener path using hydroquinone as an example. For those who are so inclined:

OK Back on track,
Report on my super insanely sensitive eyes, I have used the serum and accelerator three times now all around my eyes (including lids) and aside from my normal seasonal allergies that affect my eyes.....Drum Roll.....No irritation whatsoever!
I can honestly say for the first time on this forum that something did not make my eyes tear or feel full of crud! (well one lash serum).
That is a miracle for me, as most on EDS know all too well. |

Quick report in regarding my usage of the samples of the 2 products. I continue to have absolutely no irritation so I am thrilled about that!
I have been using them very sparingly on some VERY stubborn (read long standing) dermatitis on my neck & I am happy to say it is now nearly gone! (this after 4 applications of both products once daily)I also continue to use under my R eye & this is looking good also but to early to tell obviously regarding any anti- aging effect.
I think I may very well have to take the plunge & see what else it can do!
I do have a question for you though Dr J.
I noticed you mentioned on the hydroquinone thread that you considered arbutin for the accelerator but then decided against it.
I see it on the list of ingredients.
Could you please clarify the ingredients for this product?
I hope you will also keep us abreast re your loyalty program. |

Yay DarkMoon!
I've been using mine sparingly, dreaded seasonal allergies got me going big time (sneezing, wearing breathe right strips constantly), so I've been miserable. From little I have used, I really love it. Too bad it can't cure allergies, haha. |

LOL. I was thinking the same thing regarding curing allergies, they are especially horrid this year!
I have been using mine since Saturday night (minus eyes) so far I like it very much, it is too early to tell about long term results but so far so good! |

Hi Cabrita,
Sorry for the confusion. There is no arbutin, even though it may say so on the container. There was an error when it was printed (file wasn't updated). It's been corrected.
You can see all the ingredients on the AnteAGE web site:
SERUM:
http://anteage.com/key-ingredients/
ACCELERATOR:
http://anteage.com/key-ingredients-in-anteage-accelerator/
So glad to hear about the disappearing dermatitis. We daily hear stories about such things; it is music to our ears. |

I'm supposed to be the dispassionate scientist. But as regards your lack of eye irritation -- Yeah! Yippee! Hurrah! Go team!
We are really quite delighted that after a few weeks in the marketplace we have had overwhelmingly positive comments of "early experience" and in particular the lack of irritation. Even in the most sensitive, including yourself.
Thanks!! |

Hi does anyone feel like the longer you use these products, the less product you have to put on. In other words it seems like this last week I have only been able to use 1 pump of each product in the morning before my face feels "saturated" for lack of a better term. I am still able to use 2 pumps at night but it seems like I don't really need that much at night either. This would be great if it still works as well because it would save money long term but I'm not really following the instructions to the letter. Keep in mind I have really oily skin so it might not be the same for others. Dr. J did anyone comment about this during your testing? Thanks. |

Yes, CookieD, we did hear that during the clinical trial, and it seemed that it was mainly from people who started with oily skin. Best to try to keep the serum going at close to full dose, but cut back on accelerator. See if that works. |

I have only been able to sample the accelerator (my replacement serum that leaked is on the way).
I have always had very dry skin and I am pleasantly surprised that this provides enough moisture for me.
Like others, I like the texture and have experienced no irritation. |

I want to share this fascinating bit of information that helps to further our understanding of the VERY SPECIAL nature of mesenchymal stem cells, and to dispel any myths you may have that any other type of stem cell is somehow equivalent to MSC's when it comes to skin healing / regeneration. Look at this absract, particularly the last two sentences. I will comment below.
CELL AND TISSUE RESEARCH
Volume 326, Number 3, 725-736, DOI: 10.1007/s00441-006-0270-9
Adult bone-marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells contribute to wound healing of skin appendages
Abstract
Adult bone-marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are well-established as having the capacity to differentiate into cells with mesodermal, ectodermal, and endodermal characteristics and can leave their niche to home toward and engraft within foreign tissues. To investigate whether adult MSCs contribute to the repair of skin appendages after injury, BrdU-labeled MSCs were co-cultured with heat-shocked confluent sweat gland cells (SGCs) in vitro and later intravenously injected into full-thickness skin wounds in rats. When adult MSCs were co-cultured with heat-shocked SGCs, a subset of adult MSCs differentiated into SGCs, the percentage of differentiation being enhanced by epidermal growth factor and the injured microenviroment, but weakened by PD98059. The ERK (extracellular signal-regulated kinase) pathway, especially pERK, was involved in the phenotype conversion of human MSCs into human SGC. Labeled MSCs were noted in hair follicles, sebaceous glands, blood vessels, and dermis in full-thickness wounds, and the incorporated cells in hair follicles and sebaceous glands were also positive for pan-cytokeratin. After wound healing, some labeled MSCs returned to the bone marrow, whereas other were retained in the dermis. We conclude that adult MSCs have the capacity to dock at specific sites, to contribute to wound healing of skin appendages, and to home toward marrow, and that engraftment of bone-marrow-derived cells is a functional event.
---------------
We have talked before about how MSC's live in bone marrow, but are called up by a natural "911" system in your body when needed, e.g. to repair heart muscle after a heart attack, or for a skin wound.
We know that some "engraft" (burrow in, differentiate into new cells of that exact tisuue type" but most work by "paracrine action", that is they "dock" and then orchestrate other nearby cells to coordinate healing. They do this with cytokines in specific patterns.
We have always known that they migrate from bone marrow. This study shows that when they are done, they also migrate back. That's right, they are reusable, not destroyed. Just like the firemen returning to the firehouse and parking the fire truck after responding to an emergency.
Cells with GPS systems that know where to go when called up, packing a powerhouse of healing cytokines to douse the fire, can also find their way home when they are finished.
Try getting a common fibroblast to do that. Or stem cells sucked from your fat stores via liposuction. (No companies or products will be named). Or any other kind.
This is so cool. |

I know that bone marrow derived stem cells have the ability to reproduce indefinitely... Can you please tell me if/how this works when just the "cytokines" (from the extraction medium) are used? Do they also replicate/reproduce?
I think you may have touched briefly on this, but I'd really love to understand it fully (in regard to your products mode of action.)
Thanks! |
