Ok so I have dry flaky skin.
First I tried a cleanser for dry skin, it burned my skin so bad...it was like a really bad sunburn and it took 10 days to heal. My face was super red, tight, burning, warm to touch and hurt worse when I touched it. It was just horrible, my skin flaked and fell off over a week and a half..anyway I think you get the idea.
Next, I tried a cleanser that was for dry AND sensitive skin. Apparently I have REALLY SENSITIVE skin because the same thing happened, but it didn't take 10 days to heal, it took about 5 days.
I really need help finding a cleanser that won't burn my skin, any ideas? |

The perfect cleanser for you would be a waterless micellar cleanser. Bioderma crealine is a wonderful one. They clean the face really well.
A lot of people with sensitivity like yours are actually reacting to the drying and irritating effects of water that you use with the cleanser more than anything else.
Do yourself a favor and invest in a good micellar (i.e. waterless) cleanser. It will help balance your skin's Ph and restore your acid mantle.
Trust me, this will work!

I would suggest you use foaming cleaser, at the same time, amino acid amino acid foaming agent system cleansing foaming agent, foam meticulous, gently clean your skin, dry skin without causing tension! |

hi crmason88
you could also try cleansing with oil using either OCM or damp cotton pad/cloth method. This would not strip your skin or unbalance the acid mantle. this gets everything off (dirt, makeup, etc) like nobody's business!
i also like using honey as a gentle cleanser and/or mask.
I also have dry (and occasional patchy flakes, but not sensitive) skin.

I use MD Forte Facial Cleanser III, it has glycolic acid it in, and it makes my skin soft and free from breakouts! |

I would recommend a milky cleanser for you.
Its called Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser.
Depends on where you live, but I know they sell it at Nordstrom, and some beauty website.
Its a little expensive (at least for me) for a cleanser, but its great for me for my morning cleanser ( I use a different cleanser at night). Its very mild on skin. |

If my skin was that sensitive, I wouldn't use a cleanser. Get some baby wash cloths in the baby section of your local big box store and just use them and warm water. With skin as delicate as yours, I can't imagine you are using a ton of makeup that is hard to remove! |

I have similar skin and use what avalange suggested - The Bioderma Sensibio H20 micellar water if my face is already pretty clean. Sometimes my skin is so sensitive that just using the cotton pads to apply the Bioderma can irritate my skin.
To remove makeup or sunscreen and heavy moisturizer, I like Shu Uemura Cleasing Oil, the green color one - AO Premium. I know people don't like mineral oil products but probably half of Asia uses this oil for its good cleansing without stripping skin.
Also like Shiseido Extra Creamy Foaming Cleanser although dry skin should not really be using a foaming cleanser. But this one really gets your skin clean without drying it.
My Mother uses Sebamed Face & Body Wash as it is ph balanced at 5.5 and really works well for her.
All drugstore Loreal and Olay cleansers cause me to become incredibly red and irritated and the Loreal cream cleansers gave me hives so I just stay away from drugstore cleansers - too harsh or something. |

La Roche Posay Toleriane Cleansers sound like a good fit for you. One utilizes water while the other is a wipe off cleanser.
Pevonia Sensitive Skin Cleanser is worth a look I imagine too. |

I have dry flaky skin and use only non-foaming creamy/milky cleansers.
I like PSF Green Tea Cleansing Milk, but really any of those types of non-foaming cleansing milk type cleansers - which have no detergents or soaps - might work. Because you have such sensitive skin, I'd try to find an unscented cleanser with very few ingredients. Even plain honey could work.
I also use the cleanser with a microfiber cloth to exfoliate a bit - though that will probably be too harsh for your skin - and I only cleanse once a day max, in the evening.
Bioderma Crealine/Sensibio is also a great suggestion - if I wear makeup, I often use this to take it off. But I find that a cleansing milk is helpful to address flakes.
Edit to add: If I were you I would look for a cleanser that contains no alcohol - unfortunately even some of the cleansing milks marketed to dry skin - like the REN cleansers for instance - contain alcohol, and your skin could be reactive to that. Citric acid is another culprit that your skin may be sensitive to. |
