I am not sure if this has been addressed already but I did a search and apparently not. GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) is a natural neurotransmitter that relaxes the muscles, among other things. It is now being included in skin care products as a Botox mimetic ( yeah, sure...)
In the 1980s, the Japanese developed a technique to increase GABA content of green and oolong teas. The result, GABA tea, is apparently immensely popular throughout Asia and is available online and in some tea stores. So I wondered if using the green GABA tea as a spray before using red light therapies would help the skin in two ways: antioxidant value and muscle relaxing
I have been using it for a week and honestly think I see a difference. Not a huge one, mind you. I bought mine from Finlandia Pharmacy where it is also available online. They have a few varieties but I used the "GABA green" which is organic. |

It would be easy to brew your own green tea toner. If you do, I would do a small batch and put in the fridge.
I have thought about doing this. I did have good results with CF Replenix serum (with green tea). Less costly (and trial size available) is one from Garden of Wisdom.
The green tea really calms my skin. Good antioxidant for those with sensitive skin (me) and don't do well with vitamin C. |

That's a really interesting idea. Apparently green tea is hard to preserve (I've heard hella horror stories from every method except for freezing!) so you might have to brew up a fresh cup every time you want to do the light therapy and then just drink what's left of it.
I'm also just posting in here so I won't forget about this later. LOL. Thanks for getting me thinking! |
