| I have a spa appt next week and included is either a peel or a microdermabrasion. I am unsure of the difference or what is best for my skin. I'm 46, have large pores, blackheads, not many whiteheads (usually), definitely combo skin. Will one leave me with red skin afterwards? What is best? |

| I would go for a peel...microdermabrasion is very superficial in my opinion... |

| It depends on how tough your skin is ...if you’ve never had one they will use a very mild solution for the peel. Microdermabrasion is like sanding your skin. The peel will probably help with clogged pores. |

They both aim to do the same thing, just in a different way.
The point is to damage the skin lightly in order to create new growth/rejuvenation.
The difference is if something does it uniformly and the depth it can reach.
Peels are uniform and have a more intensive depth to them depending on the % and acid quality. Some create adverse redness/inflammation(inflammation is needed, but too much can become detrimental I believe).
I would opt for a light peel and work your way up from there.
As another said, the microderm is like sand paper, but not on a piece of paper.

Go for both. Alternate between courses.
Microderm loses their effectiveness after about 5-6 treatments. So you go with a course of this, and a course of the other (chemical peel) with 2-3 months gap in between. |
