Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum but often browse through the excellent information on here.

I'm wondering if anybody has any recommendations for skin supplements that reduce redness in the face?

I do not have Rosacea, nor is my skin especially sensitive and I use a great topical skincare that I'm happy with.

But since I turned 50, my face has a reddish tinge that looks awful in photos. I don't like wearing makeup on a daily basis and apart from the redness my skin doesn't look too bad.

I've tried various collagen supplements, fish oil supplements and probiotics. Nothing has made any difference.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

thank you!

I use Code Red, which is a supplement but only if I am going to be wine tasting. It does help with reduction of flushing.
I have shared it with friends and it does work, but it is a larger pill so hard to swallow for some!

I am not sure about supplements redness but Dr. Jaart has a cicapair skin line that uses Centella Asiatica (Tiger Grass) to help soothe redness.
I bought the small kit at sephora and really liked the sunscreen that is tinged green, it neutralized redness in my skin. I have the retin-a flush at times. If you are sensitive to essential oils, be careful as the line has them in there.

Tiger Grass can be found in other skin care lines also.

thank you skincareaddicted.

Oils are a little rich bor me, they tend to cause breakouts (even at my age!)

But thank you for your suggestion:)

I also use a lotion that I purchased here on EDS
Payot Creme N2 L'Original Anti-Diffuse Redness Soothing Care.
I have been wanting to try the Dr. Jaarts also to compare.
I like the Payot one. It soaks in nicely and doesn't cause me to break out, which I still do also.

You're welcome. Essential oils (lavendar, basil) are not moisturizing really, they are usually added in skin care for fragrance (I don't really think they do much for the skin personally, unless it is tea tree oil for acne). I find them irritating in skin care though they can cause breakouts if you develop a reaction. the moisturizing oils will be your carrier oils like coconut or jojoba. they can be heavier like coconut oil or lighter like jojoba. i find excessive use of any carrier oil can cause clogged pores for me but i do add a few drops in my moisturizer or on top when needed.

i forgot about Niacinamide. i think it is suppose to help reduce redness. i don't think you need a dedicated product, a lot of serums and moisturizers contain it already. a lot of the cerave products come to mind.

i don't know what ingredient helps in the Youth to the People's adaptogen cream, but it seems to take redness out of my skin also, and one of the few creams i like these days.

Thank you AnnieR, I'll check it out:) There are so many different things to try, it's hard to know what to choose.

thanks skincareaddicted. I definitely have a tendency to clogged pores. I'm, not sure if they ship to Australia but might try to find a similar product here. Exchange rates and postage fees make it a bit hard to buy stuff from overseas.

I also have sensitive skin, and even when I wash my face in the morning.  You need to consult a beautician, change your diet, figure out what vitamins you are lacking. Usually, it's not just skin problems.
