Great haul, sis! It's funny that you ended up passing along Jami to your cool toned daughter--I did exactly the same thing! She looks terrific in it--her skin is even paler than mine, but with pink undertones, courtesy of her English dad.

Your report on Destiny has got me close to pulling the trigger on that one. I'm also really interested in the tinted camellia oil balm, especially the red one. I did email the JH folks about whether they would be putting out stick versions, but sadly, have not heard back. I suspect that means "no," at least in the short term. A sample sized one would be terrific, though--the JH sample pots are very generous. I've gotten the Rue Burgundy and Lilies in the Snow that way, and I think the sample pots will last me forever. (Probably not in JH's best interests, come to think of it.)

Fig sounds lovely, too. I've stopped using eyepencils since my eyelids have developed an alarming hoodedness in recent years, but I'm hoping that facial exercises will help that out.

By the way, on the JH website they mention that Omit concealer pencil is going to be made into a pan formula which can be put in a palette. Great for fans of it, but I don't particularly like the color of it myself as a concealer. I do like it on the waterline of the lower lid as a brightener--it's a soft peach-toned color that looks less obvious than using white for that purpose.

I tried out Rosie today and you were right, flitcraft. It's not too dark or too pink at all. In fact, I had to keep adding in order to get it to the point where you could see it on my face. I love the free cheekie brush.

Quick update: The fig eyeliner is a dark blackish teal (I've decided this is the best descriptor). It rather matches the ring of color around my iris so it's a good look. I like that it isn't as stark as a true black. The sample of rosy lip balm is very nice. I don't even mind digging my finger in there - it's a firm consistency, goes on light yet the color is there - subtle, natural, but there.
I'm tickled to have gotten as a sample for sure. Very unexpected so all the better.

I just started wearing the Odessa - at first I thought mmmmm - too brownish and then I thought No, just right - again as a daily (not drama, etc) type of color. I was starting to love how it gave just the right look....
Yesterday I was looking to wear it - thought it was in my purse and could not locate it - devastated! Sad waaaa went crawling around the car, my office... no Odessa. So please all of you... think positive thoughts for the locating of my lippie .... I get so mad at myself.

Oh, sis, I do hope you find your Odessa! I lost one of my JH lipsticks once--it was Film Noir. I just about turned the house upside down and could not find it. I was on the point of ordering a replacement when I was taking a couple of blazers to the dry cleaners--yup, right in the inside pocket. So now when I can't find a lipstick, I go check the jackets that best match the color.

I had exactly the same reaction to Odessa--on first putting it on, I thought, "Nope, just brown." Then, checking myself in the mirror on the way out the door, "Hey, that looks nice!" Now it is one of my favorites. I swear, the Julie Hewett colors just morph into beautiful ones as you wear them, especially the bijou sheers. (One exception for me was Annette--it's supposed to be a mauvish color, but on me it was way too orangey! Go figure...)

I did bite the bullet and order Destiny today, so thanks for the review, sis.

I really am loving the cheekie - thanks so much to everyone here who recommended this. It is shaping up to be the best cheek product I've used. It makes me look like I have a glow.

Now to my next question - I am considering trying the mascara. I love that it comes in brown. Has anyone tried it and if so, would you recommend it for someone who wears contacts and sneezes a lot during allergy season? I like the mascara I'm wearing now, but it does smear under my eyes every time I sneeze.

Thanks.

Skippie - I've never tried the mascara so I will be no help. I'm sure someone here has! I did just get two mascara - Korres - from Sephora due to the great ingredients and recommendation of Antonia. Have used them twice and I like them and I like that they separate nicely and slightly add length but mostly not heavy, lashes are not hard and gloppy and I'm happy to know the ingredients are healthy not harmful.

Flit - Found the Odessa - yes Halleluia. It was in a side pocket of another purse that I just had to use for a brief period. I was relieved.
I so agree about the JH colors - yes they morph and you can't help but love them (this happened with Gem Noir as well as Odessa)... and I tried the gem noir/odessa combo just for fun tonight when the boyfriend and I went out for appetizers and how lovely - so nice without anything overdone. Classy, just a little dressy - and it worked with a nice sweater, blue blazer....

I hope you will like Destiny also. A great all-around color; not too much. You could combine and blend it also - probably with natural and Bette.
Haven't tried blending yet, but I will. Can't wait to hear what you think.

Skippie - meant to say: Welcome aboard the JH train!!! I have four cheekies (not including the one I gave my daugher) and I enjoy all of them. I believe you got Rosie! That is a popular color - too cool for me I'm very sure but I can see how it would work nicely in a cool skin tone. Neat!
Have fun.

Thanks, Sister Sweets. If I order the mascara, I will definitely get another cheekie color. Have you ever tried the eye pencils? I'm looking for a dark blue but the colors on EDS all look like some form of gray/black.

I just got Fig last week and I really like it. The smooth application, and it doesn't migrate and fade on me. The color is a blackish teal tone.

I just got my Destiny cheekie, and it is hands down the best blush I have ever used. (For reference, I'm caucasian with very fair skin with yellow undertones.)

The color leans slightly warm, but I think it would likely flatter even cooler tone complexions. It's a beautiful color--a bit of warm rose, a bit of tawniness, a slight hint of peach. Subtle but gorgeous. I think Natural is a bit better for contouring, but I'm almost always too lazy to contour except when I'm going all out on makeup for a special occasion. I realize that website colors are almost always misleading, so I rummaged through my lipstick collection to look for anything that is similar in tone so that it would be possible for EDSers to see an approximation of the color in person. Unfortunately, nothing I have is spot on--though NARS Mindgame comes close. The tone is close, but it's a shade or two darker and a bit tawnier.

I did try Destiny on my lips, but its pigment is sparing enough that it doesn't really show up enough to substitute for lipstick. If only Julie Hewett would make a bijou sheer in this color, I would buy a fistful of them and it would be my go-to lip color, too.

So thanks again for the recommendations, sister sweets! This is one terrific product!

re-posting for Amanda

Hi Everyone

First time using this so please forgive me if I do anything wrong. I am the PR contact for Julie Hewett and read through your posts so wanted to answer a few of your questions. So glad that you love all the products by the way and I will pass on your feedback to the company.

We actually will be making the Tinted Camellia Balms in a stick format, but we are still in the process of creating the perfect formula. The new cam balms in the organic formula are harder to get in the stick form, so we are currently working to perfect that. I don't have an estimated date on this at this time but you can feel free to email me at a.meyer@bellapr.com with questions. If you are not already following Julie Hewett on Twitter this is a great place to find news about the line. If you have a Twitter account you can follow Julie (yes it's actually her) at @jhlabeauty or you can follow me for lots of updates on the line as well @BellaPRAmanda.

We also constantly update the website's "What's New" page and I am creating a new Facebook account for us today. It will be a group under "Julie Hewett Los Angeles".

Thanks for all your support of the line!

That's good news that the camellia oil balms will eventually come out in stick form. IN the meantime, I've ordered the ruby balm in my upcoming order and will report once I get it.

Flitcraft - you ordered the ruby balm!!!! I was wearing my little sample tonight. Did you get anything else of interest? I am so happy with all my JH and IQ Beauty. My natural blush is way over half empty and I'll probably just get a container refill (Hopefully that's part of the option with the new kit idea). Anybody have any favorite ES colors?

I ordered Celeste lipstick, Destiny in a palette form (better for travel), and of course the ruby lipbalm. Reports to follow.

I've ordered several of the neutral eyeshadows as individual pans to drop into palettes. Actually, this has always been an option, only now Julie Hewett is promoting this on the website. (Before I would put the shadow pans into a Japonesque empty palette, but now you can get the empty palette directly from JH. )Unfortunately I don't remember the names, but they were the taupe and neutral colors from the Petite Four and Soiree palettes.

So here is my report on my recent Julie Hewett goodies:

The Ruby Camelllia lip balm is gorgeous! I got in in the palette rather than the pot--the mirrored palette has a nice magnetic closure that has a crisp positive snap to it. The camellia lip balm is in a standard sized palette pan, so if you want maximum value in terms of dollars per gram of lip balm, you will want the pot reather than the palette. But for touchups onthe go, the palette is handy and cute. But enough about the packaging--the lip balm itself is the most beautiful translucent fire-engine red! I thought based on the website that it would be a blue-toned red, but it is not. It is a neutral to warm red--really the iconic red. Applied with a finger, it leaves a slight sheen and a hint of reddish color. Subtle but pretty. It isn't so pigmented that it is uncomfortable applying by finger, but it does make a noticeable statement. The balm has a light orange-essence scent, though it doesn't have a pronounced taste to it. I will definitely be buying it again in a stick form, no question about it.

After debating over this one for the last couple of orders, I got Celeste, one of the bijou sheer lipsticks. In the tube, Celeste is a medium milky peach color--about the intensity of Kiki or Biba. On the lips, it morphs into the loveliest warm pink with coral undertones. It's the color I wish Kiki had been. This would be the perfect understated spring into summer lipstick if you like warmer rather than cooler colors. It's so pretty that I don't care that it's November--I'm gonna wear it anyway!

I also bought Destiny, the Cheekie in palette form. (I already got it in a pot, so I won't review further except to say that I like it so well that I knew I needed one for easy travel use.)

Oh .... Now I want to try Celeste... I know it has to be good. (

The idea of the Ruby camellia lip balm in a palette is appealing. It would be nice to put together a natural palette - this and destiny and some of the subtle eye shadows. I have one palette with eyeshadow - mystere is one, the other is a brown and the other a peach with Bette blush. I like all of them. The eyeshadows have great depth.

I have to admit that I was not inclined to get Celeste because it looked too orangy in the online swatches. Silly me...(though the online swatches of Amelie look scary--intense lilac! So don't look for me to try that one!)

I really love the Bijou sheer line of lipsticks. So creamy and healthy feeling on the lips, and such pretty, wearable colors. My favorites are Odessa, Jules, and Celeste, with Kiki and Biba of secondary usage.

I just received Jami and am trying it out today. On my face, it seems to be exactly the same color as Rosie. The difference is with Rosie, I end up trying to take some of the color off and with Jami, I had to keep putting more on to get enough to show.

Interesting, Skippie. I do think that some blush colors may be too similar to one another to justify buying both. Maybe Jami and Rosie are in that league, though I've never tried Rosie. I will say that, although they are slightly different toned, I'm not sure it would be worth it to have both Destiny and Natural--although I think that Destiny is sheerer than Natural, which may be a plus for some and a minus for others. (Of course I have and love them both, but I'm over the top crazy about this cosmetics line.)

I like natural as a base blush for other colors on top but good alone too for definition in the cheek area. To me destiny is more of a stand alone - has more "color"? Is that right term... Both are so subtle though. Me - I love them both Very Happy

Destiny is so very pretty, but it isn't as much of a contour shade as Natural. I'm taking Destiny as my only blush with me tonight as I head out for a six day trip. And I doubt I will wish I had any other color.
