It actually adds texture and amazing shine! It is a product I have used for a long time (in many colors). I do have a very thick/full head of hair but it is BABY FINE! what it actually does is smooth the cuticle layer by filling in the gaps and coats the hair so it helps with frizz and adds a bit of thickness to each hair strand. |

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread You all sound as if you have gorgeous hair, Bren, you are stunning and Mountain Girl your hair is amazing.
Me, on the other hand, well I've got hair like Billy Idol! It's baby fine, very thin and cropped very short and bleached. Up until age 38 I wore it very long - think Mary from Peter, Paul and Mary - that long scraggly look. But then I got it cut to the shoulders and I looked like one of the "Two Fat Ladies" (you know the cooks on TV) - I looked like the one that died - except thin. So then I just hacked it all off and thought, to hell with it! But I miss my long hair, I miss putting it up. And the worst thing is that anyone whom I haven't seen for ages always says, "Oh where's your beautiful long hair?" |

Keliu...if I had short hair I would have so much fun throwing on a long wig once in a while. Have you thought about it? Not quite the same, I know, but look at all the celeb's that are wearing hair pieces, extentions and wigs. If I could get a wig on, I would go for long, straight silver or blonde hair. That would be my ultimate fantasy. As a kid of LOVED Twiggy's hair. I picture yours like that. |

Okay DM, with your former expertise with hair, this is my dilemma.... my hair is also very thick but fine....I have never known frizz because it is so silky no matter what damage I have done to it does frizz....also it has NO curl. If I desired stick straight flat hair I would be in luck but I want volume and texture. So with this silky hair could this make it hopefully have more texture. I used to get perms and color just to rough it up enough to be able to work with it. Also how long does it last and does it affect the color you already have if you use the clear? |

It does not have any effect on color with the clear it adds shine. It's isn't going to negatively effect your own hair's texture by weighing it down if that's a worry. When I used the colored ones before I had to cover white with permanent color it was good for about 6 weeks. It won't give you the body of a perm but it does add to the hold you get out of styling. It's under 7$ and on short hair will give 2 applications, my hair halfway down my back I get just one application. |

I live in too hot a climate for wigs. I must say that's the good thing about short hair, it's much cooler and less trouble. When I was a teenager, Twiggy was my absolute idol too.
Mountaingirl, I've got to tell you - everytime I see your name now I'm going to think of Cousin It!!!! I've never seen so much hair, I'm so jealous! |

Keliu,
You look great with your short hair...you have a good face shape to go either way. I have a friend that has short hair like yours and it is very youthful on her and I think yours is too. I think the reason women started cutting their hair after 40 is on some face shapes it can drag the face down...and let's face it the face can go south easily But also equally aging is the short hair that is such a fixed look...Keliu your style is hip and perky so enjoy it as I am sure you do. I find when I am having a bad face day...got the saggy look I can put my hair up and look much better...and it looks a lot like my hair did when it was short...girls long hair for me is to my shoulders. |

MG and Bren, you both look fabulous!
My hair is fairly long, just at my shoulders. But I always wear it up in an unobtrusive claw clip or these two hair pins I have that hold wonderfully, and stay hidden. I don't think wearing it up ages me; I think of it as a timeless look, and very practical for me. And that's how it started - whenever I got my fine, curly hair cut, it looked the same no matter what the style. And I couldn't control it at all. It grows so fast that I was paying a lot of $$$ every four to six weeks for style (??) that I certainly wasn't happy with.
So fifteen years ago, I grew my hair out. It took a year. I wanted it long enough to put up, and I stopped there. It's curly, fine, but lots of it. I get the ends trimmed every few months, the top trimmed every 3-5 weeks, and high/low-lighting done at least every six weeks. Yeah, that's not cheap either! But now I'm happy with my look. It allows for lots of variation - put up loosely showing the curl, tightly in a chignon for a chicer look, French-braided, etc. I wish I'd done it when I was much younger; would've saved me lots of aggravation.
My mom didn't like the idea; said long hair would "drag the face down". But it doesn't because it's up almost always. My sisters say that if I'd let it grow longer, I'd have true "goddess" hair. DH is fine with whatever I do, bless him! An artist friend of mine has known me since my short-hair days, and once he saw my new up-dos, he pronounced them perfect for me. So I'm sticking with long hair. |

I think it is hard to say whether or not it would work, just depends on face shape, etc. I hear that long hair ages one over mid 30's, but I don't think that is necessarily true. I honestly think it depends on facial shape |

You looked gorgeous even back then! I love the make up, God knows I have pictures with my thigh length hair and much eye make up on! Your cousin it comment brought back fond memories as I used to comb my hair straight down covering my face and then put on a pair of sunglasses make cousin it noises....landed me in the principles office a few times in Jr. and high school! I was a bit of a cut up. |

She just picks herself apart something awful jom, I saw those recent pictures after the pearl laser and she's still a gorgeous woman! She looks a good 20 years younger than her age to boot!!! |

The good thing about hair is that it always grows back! It's one beauty mistake that can be fixed with time! Think of it as a project - something you can change. |

Thanks for the vote of confidence everyone! There's no way that I'd have the patience to grow it back now - plus I'm used to having no fuss hair now. No fuss hair meaning constant cutting, streaking, volumizer, texturizer etc etc! |

I love your Peter, Paul and Mary hair. Are you British or from Australia?...you have "that look." And your face shape is perfect for any hair style. I bet you are gorgeous with your short hair. Where is the other picture everyone is raving about?? |

DK...is this Clairol product like the clear "Cellophanes" that were around about 12 years ago? I had one treatment back then and remember that my hair was a little more limp and less curly. I could sure use some shine and I would love something to brighten my gray if that was possible but I don't want to sacrifice fullnesss and curl. In the winter, my hair flattens down and is 1/3 the size it is in that photo that I posted. |
