Hi, I am seeking advice regarding my broken capillaries around my nose.

Around 2 years ago, broken capillaries started showing up around my nose. They keep getting worse.

They really bother me. I found a center near me that said they could get rid of them by laser them. I've had had laser treatments 6 times with zero results!

I saw on another thread that someone recommended diathermy/ electrical coagulation. Has anyone tried that? I could not find anyone online near me who does diathermy.

Does anyone have a recommendation for the best treatment for broken capillaries. I really want something that will work.

p.s. I live in Baltimore, MD

Please help. Thanks!

So 6 laser treatments did nothing for your broken caps? That is terrible, as I am sure it wasn't cheap. I know a lot of people have recommended IPL for the broken caps. Otherwise, there isn't anything topical that will get rid of them, but there are a few things that can make them look less red. I have been using the Evan Healy "blue" kit and that does take the redness way down, but of course they are still there.

Yep. 6 treatments. Absolutely nothing. I keep getting more broken veins. Sad
I think laser is overrated.

Laser can be hit or miss in treating broken caps but some are definitely better then others. V-Beam and Gemini are suppose to be very good for this. What type of laser did you have?

IPL is generally good but not for difficult cases.

They're just regular broken capillaries. I don't think they're particulary extreme. I just don't think that laser works. Or maybe the center I went to just didn't know what they were doing. Sad

That is a real shame. I have heard if one is prone to the broken caps, even after the laser they will come back, but I don't think they would come back that quickly. Do you use any harsh treatments and hot water on your skin? I know that those type of things seem to bring mine out more.

I hear you on this...I have a significant broken cap under one eye. I had it lasered 4 times and each time it came back within a week or so. Now it is slightly raised, which makes it harder to cover with concealer.

I'd love to hear of something that worked!

I would love to hear more too. I have broken caps around my nose and one raised area right where my glasses rest on my nose on one side. I would love to get rid of these.

From what I've been reading you want to treat these with vbeam or gemini lasers.

A good laser should really help. Success has a lot to do with an experienced doctor or nurse.

If I were you..I'd research and find a new laser center. Ask for references from patients with cases like yours...or before and after pictures. Don't buy a package..tell them you want to see results of first treatment before making that decision.

I had one red vein that drove me crazy..right under my nose. It cost me 100 dollars to have it zapped..and it worked. No more bothersome vein staring at me. I was told it may come back because of where it was located..that was about 10 years ago..it is still gone.

Good luck.

I have them too. I have a cosmetic dermo and have had vbeam and smooth beam. It got rid of some of the real small ones on my cheeks but the ones under my nose still glare at me everyday. I'm looking for other treatments too.

Girls...I can't recall the name of the laser used to zap my red vein under my nose. But it worked...and they only charged me $100. But it only took a few seconds.

I would call around and check out laser treatment centers. Don't pay for a package deal. If they have a laser that will work...you should be able to realize that after one visit.

Good luck! It can be done. Smile

There was two methods that worked for me but clearly it is all cosmetic method.

One is:
IPL
Kate Somerville cream.

IPL should work to eliminate broken caps. If it hasn't, then it is probably due to the clinician not using the correct setting on the machine. However, stubborn broken caps (like the ones around the base of the nose) do have a habit of coming back.

There is no topical will effectively eliminate broken caps.

I would love to know, as well! Also, did this cream completely get rid of your broken caps or did it just diminish the redness from them?
