| What foundation is your favourite? and why? i iam using clarins hydrating one at the moment and its quite good. |

I like to rotate foundations. I am 43 with dry cheeks but oily T.
Chanel Vitalumiere liquid/cream, Kanebo cream, Clarins soft touch compact, BE and Beautiful New Skin mineral foundations.
If my face is really dry I like the creams/liquids, if hydrated I like the compact & mineral powders for a natural look.  |

| I prefer a tinted moisturiser, than a foundation. I found liquid foundation drying to my skin. The one i use is a avon one for £3.50. Not a bad price really. But i like it for my skin. Which is not good at the moment. |

THat's a tough one  - there are some real beauties out there! 20 years ago, foundation was purely cosmetic - today,there are so many ace liquid/cream treatment foundations out there (not to forget all the mineral stuff!!!) that I don't know that I could pick a fave! One thing I know for sure is that I would not be without Smashbox Photofinish foundation primer....if I run out of that -- then I go to the Cat Cosmetics primer - I would NEVER put on liquid foundation without first applying an a-grade primer. It will transform even a mediocre liquid foundation and give you the silkiest look EVER - and your makeup will last! Some of my 40 year old face's fave foundations are: Smashbox, Clinique Soft Finish (believe it or not) and Lancome Renergie Lift make-up...and if you use liquid or cream - consider buying yourself a foundation brush! - you'll use less and create a cleaner finish - and for the eye area (which is often overlooked - so many people use cosmetic products that are not intended for the eye area - making them look MUCH older) I would highly recommend Laura Mercier's "Secret Brightener" and "Secret Brightening Powder" I would not be without it - the end! It's magic make-up for the eye area - I have not come across anything as light-reflective and flattering in all of my make-up travels - it softens the look of fine lines and shadows like nothing cosmetic I've ever tried before!  |

Jane iredale Liquid minerals!
My skin is sensitive, combination, with breakouts. This stuff is gentle and goes on flawless! |

| Jane Iredale pressed base, Glominerals and also JI Liquid Minerals. I also like Tarte Smooth Operator (more of a tinted moisturiser than foundation) and Chanel Voile Universel (more like a tinted lotion). |

| I have combo/oily skin and I am really liking a real cheapie at the moment... it's Maybelline's Wonder Finish. Wouldnt be any good for drier skin types, but with my oil and and being Aussie midsummer, it's a good combination. I find it covers reasonably and yet doesnt leave tide marks under the jaw if you dont blend carefully enough ( tut tut) or go cakey if you touch up with a spot of powder in the day. I hate catching sight of myself in the rear vision mirror whilst driving and see too much foundation cake up when the oil breaks through. I love Jurlique's Lavender silk dust on top for a bit longer wear as well. |

I am not much of a makeup person. You post is wonderful and really seems like you know your foundations. Can you please explain a bit more about primers. I have combo skin type. What I am trying to achieve in makeup is a very natural brighter look. I don't need a lot of coverage as my skin is very even in texture and I have no spots to cover. Sometimes I just look washed out. I find that most foundations just fade away on me. Shopping on line is hard for me as I need to be color matched.
Has anyone tried Dr. Feelgood by Benefits? I saw a few good reviews on it on MA and Amazon.

I should be receiving Laura Mercier Secret Brightener and matching SB powder today along with her SPF20 tinted moisturizer. Have any application tips on the secret brightener set? I'm in my 40's as well.

I get so excited when I hear that someone is trying a product that I love!! (oh my god, I need a life!!) I get so excited when I find something FAB that when someone posts that they've had a negative reaction to something I've jabbered on about - I feel badly (idiotic, yes..) - so I DO sincerely hope that you like it as much as I do  Re: any tips on the secret brightener? Not a thing - I just lightly dab and pat along the orbital bone and up towards the lash line....and I just love it! It also looks fab along the cheekbone....just be cautious when you prime the wand....the first time I bought it I overprimed it - and ended up unloading a gigantic dollap!!! Re: the SB powder - it's white and finer than any powder I've ever used...I use a good quality flat-pan shadow brush, dip, tap excess then sort of dab the brush along the lower lash line.....it really accentuates the whites of the eyes and just generally brightens the area...it's not concealing in a traditional sense - it's concealing in that it is really light reflective...I hope you have success with it! |

The goods arrived today! I had ordered mine a couple of days ago from lauramercier.com based on some reviews at MUA. I was really glad when I saw your posts raving about it. I'm too tired tonight to play around with it, so I'll give it a go tomorrow. I can't wait to use it all and am especially excited to use the powder the way you suggest. I have been using Paula Dorf Enhancer Baby Eyes For Eyes & Lips right below the lower lash line, but it doesn't stay put very long. But I love the look!

For drier skin (in my case, "mature") I just love my Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich foundation. It makes my skin feel like its glowing and very even. With a dewey cream blush on top, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm really curious about the minerals everyone's raving about...but I wouldn't know where to begin.  |

Lancome Absolue Replenishing Cream Makeup
This is a lovely foundation on dry skin. It leaves the skin dewy and beautiful. It is expensive but I believe it is worth it. I am very pleased with this on my 53 year old face. |

I'm on my 5th in vitro fertilization cycle... so my skin isn't sure if it's getting pregnant or going through menopause!
I finally found a foundation called Exuviance (made by a company, Neostrata) I use neutral beige and I love it.

| I love Trish McEvoy's Even Skin foundation (in fact, I love all of her cosmetics!!) I really want to use Chanel's Voile Universal, really great texture, but the lightest color is a little to dark for me. It has very sheer coverage, but I love it...if only I could get it a little lighter. |

I think that Lorac is my favorite. It works great on fair skin in general IMP and there is the faintest bit of yellow undertone in it that helps with the red undertones that my face tends to have.
Laura Mercier is pretty good too and Prescriptives is also nice. The regular foundation of Prescriptives and their Traceless which is nice to use when you just want a slight bit of coverage to even your skin out. |

I just bought Giorgio Armani Matte Liquid Foundation and I really like it.
Before I used Pout which is not bad also , but GA is better. |

I just put Armani Pearl Veil on ebay, Brand New. I love #11 fluid sheer but the veil didn't really do that much for me I prefer Smashbox, that being said others LOVE Pearl Veil and it is limited.
Armani LS foundation settled into my dry skin and I didn't like it, but their is a new one coming out, Hydro something which I was told would not settled into pores as much. It is between the matte/luminizer one.  |

| I've got the Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation and it's really good. It feels really light and natural but also covers well and looks great. |

PRESCRIPTIVES TRACELESS!!! the BEST!
Well..i love it anyway! i have clear skin, just some evening out required..and htios makes me look airbrushed.
Also Chantecaille Real skin...i liek to use it on place of concealer around my nose and under my eyes. it realy looks like..real skin! only LOVELY real skin. |

| I know Clinique doesn't have the best skincare range in the world but I love their superfit liquid foundation! I have sensitive/dry combo skin and it goes on AND stays on beautifully. |

do you "feel" this type of foundation on your face? do you know what i mean? kind of like you have a mask on...
i have tried i.d. essentuals mineral foundation and i can "feel" it on my skin. i can't stand it... i feel claustrophobic. i know, i'm weird but it's true- i feel like i need to wash it off.

Have to agree with you princesita - have tried time and time again to break away from cliniques superfit, but always come straight back to it 
Like you, i have sensitive/dry/combo skin and this goes on really silkily, although it's oil free, and really does stay put - also like that i can apply it in a really sheer way on some areas and a bit heavier in others.Do you use powder on top? I use cliniques loose powder - actually, i have mixed together their loose powder with some of their gentle light powder, which gives a very subtle sheen - i found the gentle light powder on its own looked way over the top/unnatural.
Recently tried the laura mercier oil-free foundation and powder and afraid didn't get on with it - and i really wanted to after all the rave reviews. Which only goes to reinforce the fact that we are all so different and different things work for different people - and it is fun trying different things out - although my bank manager (and husband) probably wouldn't agree  |

Winnie - I don't wear foundation either but I do use Dr. Feelgood, Smashbox Photofinish and sometimes Smashbox Anti-Shine. Photofinish is a primer but for a night out I wear it alone. I like Dr. Feelgood to mattify. I'm always fighting shine down here - it's so hot and humid.
When I'm looking washed out I use a bronzing powder. I've been using this mosaic bronzing powder for 10 years, it has no brand name on it but a lot of beauty stores carry it.
I've ordered Dr. Hauschka's Bronze Concentrate and I'm looking forward to giving that a try. |
