Which Nivea Creme are you guys talking about? Not the old-fashioned blue-tub Nivea Shock ? My grandmother only used that and was slathering it on her face every morning in a thick layer. I can't believe that is the Nivea you are talking about. Please do let me know Laughing .
Yes, the blue-tub! Apparently the German version doesn't have preservatives or petroleum in it, though from the ingredients list on the Polish one I have (though it says "Nivea Hamburg" at the bottom) it has paraffin as one of them. I'll try and get a bona-fide German Nivea when I'm in Prague soon, which sells a lot of German toiletries.

As for Vaseline, I really like it and it's the only thing I'm using to clean my face at the moment (Efudix experiment)..apparently Marilyn Monroe used to use it on her face too?

I saw a beautifully well-preserved 70-80 something who is in a US show (wish I could remember which one) on one of the Nivea Creme Vs CDLM links who credited her gorgeous skin to Vaseline too!

Ah, it's from Tia Williams' site, Shake Your Beauty. "It all started about a month ago, during the episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta called "Home is Where the Heartbreak Is." You know the one, right? Where Lisa's 62-year-old-looking, 90-year-old Korean grandma said she owed her youthful visage to Vaseline? Apparently, she'd been slathering the classic petroleum jelly all over her face for years! I mean, her complexion really was amazing. Suddenly, everyone was talking about Grandma Wu and her hotness. Including my friend Selene, who mentioned that the trick was absolutely NOT news to her, since she'd been using Vaseline to take off her eye makeup since before Lisa Lisa met Full Force."

Ingredients list for the German Nivea: Ingredients: Water, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cera Microcristallina, Glycerin, Lanolin Alcohol (Eucerit®), Paraffin, Panthenol, Decyl Oleate, Octyldodecanol, Aluminum Stearates, Citric Acid, Magnesium Sulfate, Magnesium Stearate, Parfum, Limonene, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, Citronellol, Benzyl Benzoate, Cinnamyl Alcohol. (from http://www.aumarche.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=store.prodDetail&prodID=1286). I'll check it against my Polish £1 tub when I get home tonight!

I won't put the Creme De La Mer ingredients here as they're already listed on EDS. The one difference, of course, is that Nivea doesn't have algae extract like CDLM. Could you just add Sea Kelp Bioferment?

Hi,
just wondering how this cream compares to CDLM?
I had a sample of this and liked it because it had no fragrance listed and made my skin quite soft!

A non-greasy, oil-free night cream enriched with Seaweed, Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid to soften, hydrate and nourish the skin without clogging pores. It leaves the skin feeling soft and silky.

How to Use: After cleansing and toning, apply all over face, avoiding eye area.

Ingredients: Deionized Water, Bladderwrack Extract,Polyglycerylmethacrylate,Stearic Acid,Isopropyl Myristate,Cetyl Alcohol,Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen,Propylparaben,Triethanolamine,Methylparaben,Benzoic Acid,Imidazolidinyl Urea

-on the website it says Bladderwrack is another word for seaweed!

Does fermenting the seaweed make such a difference?

I think I might try and buy some seaweed ferment from the website people had listed here sometime...

The cream is certainly thick (the Nivea tub) and lasts forever. I'm using it to buffer Retin-A (after half-an-hour, of course).

No miracles but my skin really likes it and it alleviates the flakies. Can't compare it to CDLM as my pockets aren't deep enough! Laughing

I really love the Nivea body lotion for very dry skin (dark blue bottle), beautiful scent. Though I can't spend a fortune on toiletries, the guilt would kill me.

I believe this ljk! In Canada vaseline has a DIN (Drug Identification]Number) on each container. So I'm thinking, hmmm how come people don't use this as moisturizer? It certainly makes skin incredibly beautiful even after washing your face. And you need so very little to do the job and so economical. Sometimes I use it as eye cream.

After surgery on my lips and other areas of my face my surgeon gave me..Vaseline Confused Nothing hi-tech. It works wonders when I've had a rough peel and can't bear anything else on my skin.

The aumarche link (above, you have to copy/paste) sells German Nivea Creme but I'd look on ebay.de or elsewhere, it's a bit pricey for what you're getting; hate the thought of people being ripped off.

Tried running it through Google Translate, Worldwide, Cheapest Price:

I been using La mer for 7 months now and I do notice it makes my skin brighter and more smooth. dewy looking. I cant say its making my crows feet disapear but it seems to be making them smoother. I will continue to use. I love the smell of it too and its a great buttery mosterizer. I noticed it stays on your skin for hours where otherd rub right in. Also I have acne and I do not break out on this at all. I give it at least 4 stars but will continue to use it even if I find another that I like as well.

Just wondering?

Can you use the Creme De la Mer body cream on your face?
It might be cheaper and maybe more "concentrated" that the face stuff?

not really sure though!

I was just looking at the La mer site andthey even sell a body serum that is 120ml size, there is also a face serum and that is 30ml size.

I wouldn't be surprized if it was the same item w different packaging!

it sells $639.50 for 100ml and this place is selling already at discounted price.

if this could last me at least half a year and guarantees i will have the perfect skin without makeup.

i will not hesitate to buy but if i do not get the results i wonder if i could get my money back?

I heard that many people who sell "Creme de la Mer" on eBay use Nivea.

So what they'll do is use up the Creme de la Mer, fill up the container with Nivea, and then sell it on eBay as if it were the real thing.
