I don't know....but I'm thinking, and I wish it wasn't, that it could be the Vitamin C that's causing my conjested pores and teeny tiny bumps (albeit on only one side of my nose - the right side. Weird, I know.) I have really scaled down my skin care products to see what the heck has caused them, have tried AHA's BHA's and the little buggers are still there, so maybe I'm having a reaction to Vitamin C.

Anyone out there at all who can't use Vitamin C? I hate to give up on it....but I am going to experiment and see if that's the cause.

If not, then I have NO CLUE what's causing the bumps, they're not pimples just many, many, teeny tiny bumps on the side of my nose.

I don't think it's the makeup, b/c I've never had a reaction before, but I'm going to see if I can get away with not using that for a while too (GASP! HORROR OF HORRORS!!!)

I had the same experience last summer of trying to eliminate what was causing my face to break out so badly ... and it was the Vivier-C. Sad

Mariav,

What c serum are you using? I had problems with acne from CSRx. No problem with skinceuticals serums though..

I can't use vit c. I have tried home-made vit c serum, LRP vit c, and Skinceuticals ferulic.

Home-made version just dried out my skin and gave me contact dermatitis. LRP made me itch and made my eyes swelled up. Skinceuticals gave me red bumps all over my face.

I think i am one of the few also that did not benefit using vit c, i thought it was working great on me, until i got a clear view of my skin and i just saw how it strips the moisture out of my skin. It seems like i age more when i was using it, i did not realize vitamin c is an acid too. Some things just works so well with other and some dont.

I've done a weak homemade Vit C serum and LRP 5%, both of which were too strong and gave me red scaly patches. Still hope springs eternal and I've got a sample of PSF 12% coming. The C is supposedly contained in nanospheres so is less irritating. Smile

Lianne -

I've actually tried a few c serums including Skinceuticals, J&B, IS Clinical, and more recently PSF, whose line I really like, but those little bumps just won't budge.

I'll keep you posted after a week or so of laying off the c.

that's almost what my little bumps look like - a little contact dermititis-type rash. They are not red or anything just raised bumps, smaller than a pinhead. What's more frustrating is that it's only on one side of my nose...

I'm laying off for a bit and see if it makes a difference. If not, I'm back to the drawing board.

Maria,

Good luck! I just ended up giving my products to my sister and is now using the ferulic on my neck Laughing

Very OT: have you tried RYF's new products? Sounds very yummy...

Maria,

I hope the bumps go away quickly. I get a reaction similar to that from chemical sunscreens but its always on my forehead near my brows.

Maybe you're allergic to something in the Vit C...try some benadryl tablets or allergy meds if you have them at home. (I wouldn't go out and buy them tho)

I know....they DO sound good, huh? First we get the good news that Elizabeth is keeping the Ambrosia and now the new cream. I ended up getting a new jar of the Ambrosia to stock up - but it's a little much for me in the warmer weather. She used to have a lighter version...I may have to check out her new products though!!! I need to get a second job! My wallet is full of moths! Laughing

I also have found that many Vit Cs cause me to break out or give me a multitude of little bumps. I am trying to get my serve of Vit C via Proheal but I don't know how much C it contains or which type. Does anyone know?

I think a lot of it depends on how the serum is formulated, and what else might be in there as preservatives etc., so would be worth trying different ones (preferably via samples so you don't have to shell out loads of $$$).

I am pretty sure the Proheal is 15% vitamin C, not sure of exact make-up though.

Well I am amazed because my skin loves the Proheal and really erupts with the Super Serum so it must be something in Super or the mix.

Bushy -

I tried the Super Serum and noticed my skin looked worse!!! Why do I have the opposite effect on products that work so well for others?!!! Frustrating.

Well, it's only day two without Vitamin C. We'll see what happens after a week or two.

At least my routine is somewhat easier. Laughing

I tried many brands of Vit C and brokeout. Proheal is the only one that doesn't cause that in me.

AT FIRST vitamin C made my skin look wonderful -glowing/healthy....but about 6 weeks later, using it once a day, my skin looked worse...irritated/dry/wrinkled. it made me look 10 yrs older! i stopped the C and a few days later my skin looked better. i still have several bottles of skinceutical C left -but now i only use once a week...or less.

Vitamin C makes my skin itch (I'm allergic to citrus fruits). When I first used Cellex-C my skin itched but I was persistent and now I'm fine. I don't know if I've developed a tolerance for it now but it's working fine.

Unfortunately, I'm convinced that VitC has badly changed my skin type. I started using VitC last summer- I chose Vivier C 10. It took me three tries before my face stopped reacting with contact dermatitis...then i kept using it and by September,my skin had become all "sensitive". i started to develop bumps the size of pimples that weren't pimples. They have never gone away since:( even though I stopped using Vitamin C since September.

Now I've become quite depressed trying to figure out how to get rid of the bumps (and the scars that are coming with the bumps).

I just cleaned out the bathroom cabinet and chucked the Vivier-C. After reading so many similar stories, I know I won't ever be tempted to try it again ... not even on my neck. Thanks for the heads up on the Super Serum. I'm likely to have a negative reaction to that too, but I can say that with my breakout-prone skin that Proheal works well for me too! Smile

Just a thought - if you find you really can't tolerate vitamin C, maybe you could use something like kinerase instead? I haven't used it myself, but I think it's supposed to be very gentle and has protective qualities for the skin.

I just started using a vit C in feb and have these bumps that everyone is talking about too. I thought it was the OCM as it was making my face red and break out. So I stopped the OCM, the breakouts are less now, but the bumps are still there. I stopped the Vit C 2 days ago. So we will see how it goes.
