I never was into baths, but when I had the master bath redone, one of the upgrades was a beautiful soaking tub. Now, especially after a particularly grueling day, I love lighting a bunch of fragrant candles, pouring myself a cool drink (champagne pleez Very Happy ) and just luxuriating in the tub.

I tried making bath bombs Rolling Eyes . FORGET that! This stuff is nicer anyway and the bubbles last forever! I guarantee that you'll love this stuff...

For the Silkiest Suds Ever

16 oz. baking soda
4 oz. citric acid
8 oz. sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSA)-NOT to be confused with SLS btw
7 oz. sea salt
3.5 oz. dry non-fat milk
fragrance oil (25 drops, more or less)
skin safe colorant, if desired

1. Place baking soda, fo and colorant in a gallon ziplock bag and zip shut. Make sure you squeeze the air out of the bag first. Knead the bag as if you were kneading bread dough. This will help to work in the fo and colorant. You may need to keep adding colorant until you reach the desired shade. Colorant is tricky...you don't want to add too much so add a drop at a time. You can always add more. Remember that you will be diluting the color so to speak when you add the rest of the ingredients.
2. Once you've reached your desired color, add the citric acid and SLSA. Again, knead the bag.
3. Add your sea salt and dry milk. Again, knead the bag.

Add 3 tbsp. to bath

Katee,
That sounds great!
I ran out of "Calgon Take-Me-Away" recently and so I grabbed the Calgon Water Softener for the Laundry box and added a Tbsp to my bath hoping to soften the BFE water we have here. Not as nice as your recipe, but def a low-tech solution in a pinch! El-Cheapo too!

Thanks for the recipe idea Katee.
I used to have a successful home based Aromatherapy business years ago before it went "mainstream"...in other words when companies using the aromatherapy moniker without using true essential oils etc.

I too would use a combo of baking soda, sea salt, evaporated skim milk powder and essential oils..it's a true well rounded treat for your skin with the salt detoxifying, the milk exfoliating, and the baking soda softening.

I'm not so much of a "purist" now, so sometimes just for fun you can add some really crazy stuff instead of essential oils...for example if you ever get a craving for a root beer float, just add a teaspoon or 2 of vanilla, and some root beer extract. All the fun without the calories Bad Grin

You are only limited by your imagination
