I always have a headache when it comes to doing the laundry. I know that most red color clothing will bleed. So I would like to know if red color can be mixed with dark/ or light purple together? Or mixed with bright blue?
Thanks ladies!!! |

I would combine them. But if the red is the first time ever to be washed you might not want to put the light purple in with it - it may be best to wash it alone (the first time washing it). Good luck! |

Red is my favorite color for clothing, so I have alot in my wardrobe. I have had waaaay too many accidents, so now I ALWAYS wash my reds separately. I have had some red items continue to bleed, even after multiple washings. |

It really depends on the fabric and the dye whether reds will bleed and continue to bleed. One rule of thumb to remember when washing colors is to always use cold water, that makes colors less likely to bleed, also its better for the environment. Also, I think Cheer makes a detergent specificly for colors now, I'm not sure though, I use All Free cause I have a little one. |

Thanks ladies for the reply! I guess the Cheer for colored clothes only help to keep the clothes brighter but I guess won't do anything if the shirt bleeds! I guess the safe bet is to wash them separately or by hand if necessary although it seems like a lot of work... |

I have solved that laundry problem by using one of the color catcher sheets that go in with laundry in the washer. They are specially made to catch and absorb dyes that run from colored clothes. I am always amazed at how dyed the sheet comes out; I keep telling my dh that those dyes would have been on the clothes themselves if I hadn't used one of those sheets.I can now easily mix red clothes in with dark clothes with no problem. I end up saving money in the long run by doing fewer loads of laundry. Can't beat either of those two things. |

Here is some info. on the brand that I use.

I buy them at any of the grocery stores that I go to. There are in the laundry detergent aisle, usually near the stain remover sprays/sticks. Hope that helps! |

Thanks brenpatsa, I'll check this brand when I go to the store. It says on the site that it's not effective if the shirt bleeds badly. I guess it only works for a slight bleed but still better than nothing I guess. |

Definitely give them a try! My boys wear red Capital's tshirts all the time and they bleed pretty significantly. I probably wash them alone the first two times or so and then after that, I always throw them in with other darks and one of those sheets and I have had great results. Seriously, the sheet comes out almost as red as the shirts!! |

brenpatsa, I guess it's wise to mix the bleeding clothes w/ the dark and not pure whites?
And I guess it's safe to mix red w/ other colored clothes such as purple or blue? I'm sry brenpatsa!... I feel stupid. I wish my mom would do my laundry but I guess I'm too old for that now haha |

I'm not sure if I have any pieces of clothing in red. I wouldn't mind having one or two, but I never thought red looked good on me. I have some accessories though. I wash my SO clothing with blue and black and I use PC for dark or Zero for colours. |
