This I find very confusing but it looks like the subsidiaries are being absorbed into the International company:
Shiseido Company, Limited Announces Dissolution of Three U.S.-based Sub-subsidiaries
Shiseido Company, Limited announced that it has decided to dissolve its three U.S.-based wholly owned sub-subsidiaries, Shiseido Cosmetics (America) Ltd., Nars Cosmetics, Inc. and ZIC Corporation. The three subsidiaries are engaged in the sale of cosmetic products, manufacturing, sale and export of cosmetic products, and manufacturing, sales and export of fragrance products. The businesses of the three sub-subsidiaries will be taken over by their parent company, Shiseido International Corporation, which is a U.S.-based wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. ZIC Corporation will dissolve in July 2008, Nars Cosmetics, Inc. in January 2009, and Shiseido Cosmetics (America) between January 2009 and June 2009.- - - - - |

Critic,
Yes, I am using the lotion mask every morning after the Tanaka massage. I have used two lotions - Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Treatment Lotion by Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins and the Shiseido one. I like both very much. |

Shiseido is very BIG, and they carry all kind of products, I found some very low-end household stuff in supermarket like Johnson & Johnson. When I traveled in Japan, many hotels use Shiseido in-room amenities. (When I first traveled there, I thought WOW! Shiseido! it's actually something very cheap though!) |

I am considering to re-use the cotton pad, because tearing them into 3-4 layers are very time consuming. I am thinking to dry them after the first use and re-use it in the evening by adding extra lotion.
I would like to confirm lotion is toner, right? |

In the English version she states:
"A key part of my program is the lotion mask...Lotions - not to be confused with toners or astringents - condition your skin surface. There are basically two types: hydrating lotions and brightening lotions. The ingredients are typically 80% water and 10% alcohol, along with an assortment of moisturizing agents and therapeutic ingredients. I strongly recommend only those lotions that contain little or no alcohol."
I also considered reusing the cotton pads but they're pretty stretched out after using them the first time. I use the Webril pads and have found that after wetting them I can actually divide them in two and it only takes those two for a lotion mask. |

When I was having my facial done by La Colline spa, the girl use the La Colline lotion before/after each step. At the end, she will layer a lotion mask on the hydrated mask. The fine lines around my eyes will disappear after the treatment.
I did not layer a lotion mask at home, even if I am using the same La Colline hydrated mask, fine lines are still around. |

How long have you used the lotion massage? Any result?
Do you stand 3 mins while doing the lotion mask? I have not really tried, I don't think I have 3 mins in the morning for the mask. I am always in the hurry in the morning. Saeki said it's better to do it in the morning than evening. |

Let's all go to Japan! Where are you neondaze? Meet me in Tokyo.
That's true about Shiseido, they have in-expensive shampoos and conditioners which are apparently quite nice. Oh Japan, land of wonder...
Are you girls watching the Grammy's by any chance?? |

I've been doing the lotion mask about 3 weeks (in the morning for 3-4 minutes standing). I'm retired so do not have a time issue. She also recommends doing it in the evening.
There are definitely immediate results that can be felt and seen. It's hard to determine the results other than that because I have just restarted using Retin-A and I do the Tanaka massage daily. The Retin-A is creating some skin irritation and the lotion mask is soothing and smoothing at the same time. |

Callalily I would LOVE to go to Japan with you. I just know we would have a ball.
I have been to Japan, a few years ago. It was totally amazing. It is super crowded but they are so incredibly well-mannered that no one ever pushes or even accidentally touches you. (opposite to some of the other Asian cities where those little old ladies really get you with their elbows when it gets squishy!)
Kyoto is incredible. I remember walking around some of the Zen gardens and realising that my jaw had actually dropped it was so beautiful. And saying to myself 'I can't believe it my jaw has dropped... my jaw has dropped... and it won't go back up again...' |

I'm just thinking out aloud here, but the clip that vanished from amazon is on youtube in case anyone is missing it, but do you think there is an English dvd in production? I'd love to get it if there is. Fingers crossed! xxx |

I tried to read the link mentioned but I could not make it go into English. will try again. Also, how you all think the lotion mask is different than just putting lotion on a damp face? I am thinking it is the absorption and imagine it would feel lovely, very moisturizing and soothing. TIA |

She explains this in the book, but from memory she says if you drop water onto paper, it evaporates in time, but if you apply damp cotton to the paper, the paper soaks up the water. So the skin will take in much more water than when you apply lotion to damp face.
This is the link to the video in English:

Where do you get the cotton papers for the lotion mask? I have looked at Ulta and Sephora here in the States (Chicago) but I have not found anything like those. Only cotton balls and tiny little cotton squares for removing makeup. |

Peggoty,
I bought the ones she suggests - Miss Webril 100% cotton Skin Care Pads through Amazon.com. There are other suppliers if you google Miss Webril Skin Care Pads. I had never done business with any of them. I found no source other than online.

In La Colline spa, they use the facial cotton mask (with holes for eyes, nose, mouth), soak it in lotion. |

I viewed the video on amazon again on how to do the lotion mask, it is easy to do it for the others, but not easy to do it for myself. Maybe I will do it once a week on Saturday.
Saeki looks very good for her age, but comparing with Tanaka (I compare their hands and face, hands tell the truth), Tanaka looks so much better and younger, also consider Saeki has no children and Tanaka has 2 children, women tend to look older if they have children.
In one of Tanaka's book, she was very stressful when she was 42, people thought she was 58, then she started to develop the massage to help herself.
Saeki's husband died when she was also 42, then she started to try everything to make herself looks better and younger.
Why 42? I learned and heard about Tanaka and Saeki few months before my 42 birthday. |

Peggotty, In the US, Shiseido sells facial cotton similar to what Saeki describes. A nice large package is about $10. |

To me, I don't think that comparison is ever helpful as it can be a form of negative focus and I think negativity in any form is an aging factor.
Why not look at them both and admire them for what they have achieved. Even if Saeki did start at 42, does it make that much of a difference. Look what she has achieved and is sharing with people.
Sure starting early is good because you can stop a lot of things from happening, but having said that, even a late starter can make up for lost time with dedication and perservance. I've seen it myself with facial exercises. Ultimately aging should be good, things should get better as we get older and this sort of focus I believe keeps us trapped in the past.

LOL Skippie I did laugh. No I don't think there is ever an age where its too late. I truly believe that any effort we make in making ourselves healthier always makes us look better as a result. I've been fortunate enough to work with some 60 year olds, who have had remarkable results and put people half their age to shame with their efforts and dedication.

Again, so helpful! And there just happens to be a Shiseido store near my work. I'll have to check it out during my lunch break.
I declare, with all the great info I have learned on this board to help with my furrows and NLs, (face lotion, Tanaka massage, green smoothies, dry brushing, etc.)I'll have great skin in no time! |

It's hard to go back to any other cotton after you use Shiseido's gorgey cotton squares.
Critic, it's so interesting that 42 seems to be a common turning point. I'll be 24 this summer, hopefully I can have a positive revelation. I love that both of these women prove you can turn around your life (and appearance) with some effort and positivity.
neondaze - How lucky! I loooove reading about Japan. I find it absolutely fascinating. |
