hi everyone wave

i'm in toronto and i would like to share with members, where i've found cheap finds/buys. please feel free to add your own cheap finds: where, what, and how much. please add in as much detail as possible.

orfus rd. orfus rd is located on the dufferin ave line, just north of lawerence ave. orfus rd is a small side street coming off of dufferin ave, running west. it is 3 blocks or so, of liquidation! yay! basically clothes, some shoes, and some kitchen/assorted shopping. everything is reduced for clearance, and the clothes are super cheap!

i try to go at least twice a year. each time i go, there's so much to buy, that i've never made it to all the stores. Embarassed

1) clothes! Very Happy now remember everyone, these are mainly womens/young womens clothes, and they are all at the end of the season. they're young clothes so they're trendy and cheap, and made to last a season or two. we're not talking about designer clothes. the selection is huge, i mean HUGE! there are racks along the walls and made into makeshift aisles, that are 3-4 levels tall. some are so jam packed that you can't squeeze your hands in to part the items and take a better look. i'be fought with many racks! the range is enourmous... something for everyone.

NOTE: you can't try them on. no change rooms. no washrooms.
-demins a huge selection from hip huggers, low rise, to the new high waisted (just under your breasts)... from casual eveyday demins, to stretch brazilian, to dressier no fuss evening, to razzle dazzle accessorized/flashy demins. you can't try them on, so you'll have to do the 'paste to body' approximation. these demins you can find for 10-15, or cheaper depending when you go.

-casual clothing/gym/yoga/sweats a huge selection as well. conservative everyday tees, cute babydoll tees, around the house tess, tank tops, and a bit dressier tees that you can wear in the evenings. they range from 1-3. i've purchased many of these cute cotton tops for summer, around the house, and going out with friends, for $1 a pc. remember, these are young clothes ... and are fun. i've bought many for myself, mom (casual and garening), and for friends. for winter, i take tees to layer under clothing.

there are gym suits, yoga pants, track pants, gym jackets, etc, etc. ... i could go on but you get the picture. these are usually under $5.

-winter clothing you can find cute faux fur lined hoodies, vest hoodies, cardigans, trendy sweather, etc for $5. these are all young sporty/casual coats and vests. very cute and easy to wash. i've found very cute or even sexy evening faux fur items... like little bolaro jackets, collar accents, etc... trendy and sexy for the nights out. you wear them, have fun, and don't worry or fuss once its out of season.

-club/evening wear. there are bustierre, corsets, mini skirts, dressy blouses, tanks and tops... all geared for nighclubbing and dancing. i usually find some awesome pieces that can be coordinated with other ites... unique ... all for $1 pc. the best find in this category was GUESS brand identical evening blouses. these were all spandexy material that stretched, made to be worn in the evenings, very chic. they come down to the hip and gather... all of these blouses had unique cut outs at the back to reveal a beautiful back and waist. my friend a Guess manager was with me, and her eyes were popping out of her head... she was almost drooling. she couldn't get over the fact that they were "INDENTICAL" to the real guess clothes.

-smaller pieces. usually for a 1-2$. leggings ($1),summer shorts, lingerie, tanks, summer tanks, hand bags, earrings, very cool belts. the best find here was faux snake and alligator wide hip bets... very sexy and trendy... great to slim your outline, streamline your figure, and accentuate the hips. hot! for $1.

i try to go before christmas. this is a great way to shop for the women in your life... there's always something to find and buy. what i do for christmas, is give my special friends a christmas 'package'. meaning, as part of their christmas present that comes in several bags and packages, i always include a bag of clothes... called fun stuff...all from orfus. in this bag, for each person, i include practical items such as totes, panties, socks, shorts, tees-things they will always need. then i add some fun trendy stuff like blouses, sweater, vests, leggings, club/evening wear-this way they can test out new trendy stuff without having to spend a fortune. there are other presents but that's another category. Surprised

so remember, if you're looking to revamp your stlye, wanna try something new/trendy, gift someone, or christmas shop... you get tons of stuff for a bit of $.... and experiment all your hearts desire... orfus is for you!

note: its best to take a few girlfriends and a car. trust me! you'll need the car to load up all the stuff. each time i go, i see women with garbage bags full of stuff, in each hand, dragging down the street trying to get to the bus stop.

strategy: dress light, with proper shoes... trust me, you'll be there for hours! try to keep your phone (just in case you lose your party), wallet, and essentials in a back pack or pockets. i say back pack and NOT a shoulder purse cuz you'll need both arms and hands. small back packs are ideals as it keeps everything safe and doesn't intrude in your shopping hunt.

tip: bring a bottle of water in the car or back pack. you'll get so excited that you won't realize that you're panting. dehydration slows you down. sip lightly and only when needed cuz there are NO washrooms.

caution: no washrooms! before you arrive to orfus, make a detour into a coffee shop and go to the washroom regardless whether you have to go or not. trust me! once you start shopping the hours will pass, and before you know it, you have to go to the restroom. that's another trek down the street if you're lucky... you won't want to leave all the shopping and your party. its a downer!

Very Happy have fun! Laughing

Thanks for sharing. I am familiar with Orfus Rd., but I don't like going in that area, because it is somewhat an Italian community and I find that they are aggressive and overpowering.

There are plenty of amazing baby clothes to be found there also.

hey skincare,

baby clothes? i never noticed. these sooo much shopping to do... holy! and after all these years i never got the chance to even enter 'target' down the street on the corner.

the whole street, expanding down to 3-4 blocks is craziness with pple and cars.

they have a few nice shoe stores too. i'll write about them next time.

Sounds good. I just bought a pair of new sandals. It's not big designer, but it's the latest trend. Clarks shoes are very popular now with the young girls and they are so "old lady" look style!
This one has a heel.

at the beginning of orfus rd, right from the dufferin turn, on the left hand side (south) there is a shoe store. i don't know what its called... you know walking around orfus rd with your head to sky can get you run over or stampeded on! Laughing

its a cheap, cheap, trendy shoe store for casual young trendy shoes. you can find unique (not from the same companyies on in all the malls) shoes for cheap! the designs are trendy, young... love the funky edgy sandals, shoes, and super cute boots.

you wear them when its 'in' for a couple of years, and it no biggie if it goes 'out' or breaks..cuz they were super cheap.

AND, you look diff cuz no one has the same shoe as you. have you ever noticed in GTA everyone basically wears the same shoes??? le chateau, trasit, spring, etc, etc, etc.

my girlfriend from chicago came to visit a few years ago, and we had the same stiletto pant boots. Shock i don't really mind, i'm not that kind of girl... but it showed me that these huge shoe companies are affliated...and dispense the same shoes all across

'old granny' look shoes!
the young girls don't know... its the first time they've seen it.
i was a child so that 'look' is burned into my mind. me too, i won't wear them, no matter how 'fashionable' they are. Laughing

my mom just got those nursing home shoes.. with the rubber bottom, and the shape looks similar to penny loafers... i can't describe the style. but anyways, i was so shocked, i was going to throw them in the garbage when she wasn't looking. she was horrified... she said they were REALLY expensive. so i made her swear not to wear them out in public. Laughing

i never thought i would see the day, where my mom buys nursing home shoes, and we're both hanging out at the anti aging shows together. Laughing life is strange!

yah, so you know which ones i'm talking about right. i swear it had a funny name. i can't remember it.

i think the thought and realization that mom is getting old, is what is really making me sad. i scares me to think she is getting old, and eventually will not be around. life is like a flash...
