Today Onyx had some edamame AND some watermelon...I am really starting to wonder about him. Plus, he had his eye on my glass of wine the other day.
It is REALLY hard to escape him when he is on a mission to get whatever I'm eating. But I do draw the line at alcohol!

He's a smart kitty!!!! |
Can you see the intensity in his eyes? That's how he looks at any anything (and everything) that might be edible! |

She is just adorable Toby!!
Does she watch TV? - Lulu loves watching TV and knows every single commercial that has an animal in it. When she hears the music, she bolts to the TV and barks her head off. She also likes cartoons. |

No she isn't a TV watcher...she's too busy watching me and trying to control the two male dogs I have!
But my Rudy(Cavalier) is really wanting to snuggle with Bethany's kitties!

And you have Miss Lizzie dressed up like the little girlie she is too, lol.
I can't believe you got all 3 to pose together like that...adorable! |

Wait until you see LuLu!!! She has quite a wardrobe and prepared for every emergency! I want her in a doggie magazine.
My poor cat.
Simba is a regular guy, saved from the streets. He'll barely tolerate a collar. |

I have 2 rescues...Marmalade and Lily, and Paris qualifies as a "health rescue" I suppose (though I found that out AFTER the fact!)
Poor Mittens (RIP) was also a rescue...she was a typical short-hair that was gray with white mittens, and she was very grateful when I "acquired" her and Marmalade from across the street where they were woefully neglected. She had a thyroid problem and had had a stroke, but I was able to nurse her back to health and had her for 4 years before I had to put her to sleep (she was about 17, or was it 19? OLD basically)
But I have to say, if you want low-maintenance, domestic short-hairs are the way to go. The purebreds are like money pits...and the exotics seem to be that way from birth. But I just loooove their squashed little faces...only one of my cats has an elongated face, and it just looks weird to me now, lol. |

I posted some of Lulu on the Rant and Rave thread, but I haven't got any of her watching TV. I'll have to put on Beverly Hills Chihuahua and get out the camera! |

Speaking of high maintenance cats....
- Lily had to go get shaved today because she won't let me brush her
- I just confirmed that Paris Hilton's bladder problem is back, so she will need to go back to the vet, back on meds for a bit, and back on Rx cat food.
- Bacardi has to go to the vet on Friday and get his breathing and his teeth checked to determine if he is up to being neutered next week (and possibly a tooth extraction at the same time).
- All of this in the same week that my hot water heater broke and I had to order a new one today. (yes, today was definitely a Monday!)

I'm baaaack!!
Well it has been quite some time since I posted on this thread, and a LOT has changed.
The bad news....I lost my precious Marmalade to diabetes a few months ago, which broke my heart. I still miss him terribly.
The good news (or not so bad news)...I was under a huge amount of stress over the last couple of years, and what made me happy? KITTENS! So I added 2 more Exotics to my brood...Paisley (a tortoiseshell) and Shelby (a Seal Lynx Point). I don't think I have posted these pics below...
So the grand total of furkids is 7. But I am capping it there, as they are quite a handful and frankly cost me a fortune since this breed has some health issues. But they sure do provide me with a whole lot of happiness and love.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Marmalade, Bethany. I can wholeheartedly sympathise with how much you miss them when they go. Such a huge feeling of loss.
Your two new kittens are adorable, though. Just be prepared for plenty of extra naughtiness from your tortie girl (but they do make up for it in terms of love and making you laugh). I find that torties are quite often extremely intelligent, too - which makes them even more mischievous!
Our own very much missed tortie provided us with such wonderful memories.
Shelby has such an extraordinarily beautiful markings. I'm very experienced with moggies and hardly at all with pedigrees so I've never ever seen a Seal Lynx Point before. Wow! |

Thank you...I am finally getting over it a bit.
And you are a 100% correct about the tortie....she is VERY smart and totally exudes a TON of "tortitude." She is my first tortie, and I can now see why people feel strongly about them (whether they love or hate them, lol). She weighs half of what Shelby does, but plays so agressively that he runs away from her.
Here is a pic of Shelby's pretty blue eyes....he knows he is a good looking cat, but is still very humble.

Those gorgeous eyes must be quite hypnotic to stare into!
As for torties, you'll find that they're also incredibly stubborn. Our little girl used to suddenly get an idea into her head and would NOT stop until she'd done it. This ranged from trying to leap onto the top of our tall wine cabinet (disaster!) right up to her determined attempt to finally climb/run up a tree on the day before she died (she only managed to get a couple of feet up, then clung like a bear, before falling off!)
Your tortie will drive you absolutely crazy but in the most delightful of ways. |
