Hello all Smile

It appears that most here at EDS prefer physical spf daily rather than chemicals.

I have always used chemical spfs (with a physical over the top) daily for many years now. However, I have been reading recently about concerns over the effects of these chemicals once absorbed into the body with regards to toxicity and effects on hormones.

Skinceuticals have a spf which has the mexoryl/tinosorb filters without the avobenzone/octocrylene added but still contains a hefty amount of oxtinoxate. My next step is to find a spf that ideally just has the newer filters in without any of the older chemical spfs that are suspected to be 'toxic' with everyday use and then apply a zinc-only spf over this (titanium dioxide has safety concerns!?).

Would love to discuss with my friends here!

Sunscreen is such a dilemma. I used physical only for a few years, but my skin always looked so dried out. Or if I found one that wasn't too drying, it was greasy. I switched to Japanese sunscreens last year and like them much more! The one I use now for my face has tinsorb, uvinol, octinoxate and zinc.

I still haven't found a body sunscreen that's ideal and at a decent price. Just got a chemical banana boat one that doesn't have oxybenzone. We'll see how that works.

For those of us in the US, the choices are not great.

This is the one I use. Nivea sun protection plus UV Milky essence. I've reordered 4-5 times now.

Unfortunately, we do not have as many choices here in North America. I am in Canada and do well with the Mexoryl. Tinosorb is OK for me but I have yet to find a formula that I can wear daily.

Some of those filters listed are available in Asian SS only such as Uvinul A plus.

What sunscreen are you currently using? Did you have to order online?

Hi,

I also use a physical sunblock. I currently use a Sierra Mountain Sun Cream made by Winter Sun in Flagstaff, Arizona.

http://www.wintersun.com/product/productCategory/view/id/25

The cream is handmade using premium ingredients and saves me from emulsifying anything myself at the moment Smile

I wear sunscreen 365 days a year but my primary protection is sun protective clothing.

I just wrote a blog about sun protective clothing with photos. I am about 56 in the scarf photo and am grateful to have protected my skin.

Take good care of yourself,

Jamie,

The Uncover sounds nice.

Would you please let us know how you find it? Is it greasy and/or shiny? I prefer matte sunscreen.

Look forward to your report.

I will.

There is also this sunscreen by the same dermatologist which contains

Sunscreens:

• Uvinul-A-plus (Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate), for the protection against UV-A radiation
• Uvinul T150 (Ethylhexyl Triazone), provides protection against UV-B radiation
• Tinosorb S (Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine), for the protection against both UV-A and UV-B radiation
• Ensulizole (Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid), particularly against UV-B radiation, and partly against UV-A radiation,

Antioxidants for extra protection:

• Niacinamide

https://www.uncover-skincare.nl/producten/zonnebrandcremes-dr-jetske-ultee/suncover-spf30-250ml.html

Seems as though it contains the safer, less toxic sunscreens. I will order this next.

Also to add that Ducray have an spf 15 with Tinosorb M and octinoxate:

https://www.ducray.com/en-gb/node/67081

I have used this cream and there is zero cast and it imparts a nice soft matte glow.
