Does anyone else "suffer" from this phenommenon? I have tried to many lipsticks/glosses that start out the perfect color then I look in the mirror and the color has turned a bright pinkish-fuscia on my lips. It drives me crazy. I loved the matte lip in "Seduction" by Revlon and "Nude Star" by L'Oreal - they both go on as such nice looking nudes and then they go bright pink on me! Same for Nars lippie in Playpen - it's the perfect coral - then it just turns pink.

I've tried lipliners, foundations, etc. on my lips and yet it still happens. It's taking perfectly lovely colors that start off looking great...only to end up a bright barbie doll pink color that is so not flattering on me.

Thx! Maria

What do you mean start off great?

I get very annoyed with lipsticks, they don't look remotely similar to how they look on my lips (even when trying on fingertips), specially since most shops have artificial light, so nowdays, I buy a bunch of samples (Avon) and test which ones look ok on me and then buy.
Warm-cool thingy doesn't help at all. I look good in neutral foundations, but only warm lipsticks look ok on me. Neutral to cool... Very bad, light pink looks like fuscia on my lips.
And lastly, having foundation on lips should help the colour look more like on the lipstick...

I might have completely misunderstood what you meant Confused

Hi Maria,

This is NOT uncommon. I was a makeup artist for Lancôme. Depending on the individual's acidicity, lip colours can change. That's why cosmetics contain a ph buffer.
