Before anyone types anything, I just want to say that this is NOT about Paula herself, but her products. From reading previous posts, I know some of you are irritated by her, and I am somewhat too, but this isn't what that is about!
But anyways, I just want to know what you all think of her products? It seems that every time I ask for some type of recommendation, PC products are always brought up and I just wanted to get a collection of thoughts all in one place. Do you use PC products? If so which ones and which of them work/didn't work? Which one is your favourite? And why do people compare her products to other skin care lines like proactiv?
It also seems as though she's not a fan of Decleor products. Why is that? |

I like some of her products. I like her 2% BHA liquid, which I've used for several years. I also like her cleansers. I think she has some pretty decent formula's but like any other line I always have to review the ingredients before buying. Not everything she has would work for me.
I think if the products worked or not is rather subjective. I haven't really noticed that people compare her line to other lines any more then normal line comparison.
As far as Decleor, its probably about the EO's used in the products. Here is her brand review:

Is that true about decleor though? Are EO's really that bad for the skin? It seems like a lot of people still like it regardless.
And yeah, her formulations are quite impressive especially when she talks about cell communicators and the such. I wonder if I should try them out |

| I use Paula's cleansers, 2% BHA liquid and pressed powder foundation. I can really tell when I don't use the liquid. My skin gets congested right away, especially my nose and chin area. |

I love the AHA 8% gel...this is the only AHA that works for me and does not cause acne. This product clears my acne scars and makes my skin glow.
I have used the 2% BHA for blackheads and that works great also. I just use it on my nose occasionally, if I use it too often it dries my skin out.
I have used the One Step Cleansers in the past and they worked great also...but I am using the Obagi Nuderm system now.
Some of the other products I tried did not work for me...But the 3 above I would recommend. |

I was using her RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum and liked it a lot.
I stopped 4 days ago to experiment with another product and i already see the difference (not the good one).
I probably will continue for another week or 10 days, but if there will be no visible improvement i'll go right back to PC serum.
And i don't mean an IMPROVEMENT (i realize i takes time), but my skin condition should not degrade - that's for sure.
Another winner is RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer , which is a little light, but goes perfectly with the serum. |

I think Paula's Choice is like any other good brand (thinking LRP, Avene, Estee Lauder, Skinceuticals, etc): it has some great products that work for a lot of people and a bunch of decent/mediocre ones that work for not so many people. No horrible products that I can tell.
The cleansers are pretty good--they're all SLES-based, at pH 5.5 (same as healthy skin), with different levels of moisture.
The exfoliants are great, especially the BHA lotions, and I'm keen to try the new Resist smoothing/resurfacing one (eventually, anyway, have to be careful...)
And the antioxidant serums are good, especially the Resist Super AOX and the Resist Barrier Repair. I'm saving the Resist AOX for if my skin can tolerate it later, and I've liked the Skin Recovery AOX around my eyes at times, but I like tretinoin better now. But not the Skin balancing AOX (weird texture that balls up)--I'm using that up on my arms and decolletage.
I've also used both the Remarkable Skin lightening products as a spot treatment only. I prefer the BHA version, which has done a good job on a couple of my extra-big freckles. Now for the couple of extra-dark ones...
Paula's Choice also makes it easy to get samples, and has good customer service. In fact, PC is a brand that's pretty good for sensitive oily folks, which happens to be Paula's skin type too.
About the Decleor and EOs: it depends on how sensitive one is.
Oh, and the comparison to Proactive is probably because of her benzoyl peroxide products, which are about as good as BP products can be... but they're still pro-oxidant and potentially sensitizing (I ended up having trouble with the 2.5% and my derm told me to stop using it). |

Wow thanks guys! I think I'm gonna go ahead and try the skin balancing line and possibly the AHA gel once I've finished up my alpha hydrox souffle. I'll probably try the resist AOX too. Definitely not the sunscreen though since there's quite a few reviews that says it's photounstable.
And I just looked at her reviews of dermalogica and wow, are they bad. This is surprising to me since dermalogica is developed from the international dermal institute. Anyways, I think I'm starting to talk about Paula so I'll stop here  |

| Oh, yes, SLES is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Its evil cousin, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a notorious irritant for most people, but SLES irritates only a few people--I can handle it in formulations like PC, Olay gentle foaming, etc. |

Oh really? I thought she was against using sulfates in her product or something? Aren't SLES still bad for the skin though?
and have you tried the skin balancing moisture gel? I read reviews that the silicone in it is't too great for some people |

| I really like the 2%liquid BHA and can really tell the difference if I don't use it on my chin area. Her cleansers, toners and moisturizers are very good and can be all used around my eye area with no problem. Love the tinted moisturizers and brow gel and mascaras..oh and lip gloss. |

Well, she's really against SLS, but seems to be unaware of any potential danger from SLES... I think SLES is not a problem for most people, used properly (for instance, not overwashing and not leaving the cleanser on for a long time).
I have some samples of the moisture gel, but haven't gotten around to trying it. I understand it's similar in texture and formulation to Olay Regen, so I expect I would like it. I just really like my Regen and hate to switch products on my skin too often. Yes, silicones can be a problem for some people, but i think it's rare. |

Don't know how to use quote function - eventually I will figure it out! I use two of Paulas cleansers: Skin Balancing for combo/oily and Clear Normalizing. I think they are both amazing. My face is clearest when I use Paulas products religiously. My problem is I am always so tempted by recommendations, but I always go back.
I just started Obagi Nuderm, and am already breaking out because I am not using the 2% BHA liquid. I am afraid of too much exfoliation between the Retin A, and using Clarisonic to get rid of flakies and the BHA. Has anyone ever used all three without irritation? |

I have been following Paula for years and may have some insight on products that seem to work well, but Paula doesn't approve of. There are so many products out there that work well, but include fragrance. We all certainly love good smelling things!! But, Paula is very adamant on her stand regarding unnecessary ingredients, especially fragrance because so many of them are irritating to the skin.
In many of her reviews she states that if not for the fragrance the item would have been a Paulas pick. (been recommended.) |

| I love alot of Paula's Choice products. I have used the Resist Line Moisturiser and its really nice, light, nearly like a serum. Also her antioxidant concentrate is lovely, goes on really smooth, really nice under make up. And her moisturiser for dry skin. They are also very reasonably priced. I love that you can get samples and try stuff before you buy the large size. I do try other things but I keep coming back to Paula's choice, and always have some product of hers. |

| Hmm okay I think I'll give this a shot then! It's definitely a cheaper alternative to Dermalogica.. it's burning a hole in my wallet! And I seem to have the same trait as Paula in that I like to do tons of research on ingredients before I actually purchase a product. Plus it's nice that she doesn't try to hide her facts by posting the review articles along with the product. Here goes nothing! |

Did you get any of Paula’s choice products since you last posted? If so I was wondering how you did with those?
Since I have not found my perfect skin care regiment I’m experiencing between different brands and product.
I have order her Resist line and I will be trying it as soon as I get it. I’m retin-A user and I was not using any exfoliation products. I hope that the daily 5% AHA and her weekly 10% AHA works well on my skin.
