Your Aspirin Mask Recipes

4-5 asprin crushed in mortar and pestle
2-3 drops water (enough to make into paste)
1-1.5 tsp honey
0.5 tsp pure aloe vera gel

-remove makeup (or not if it's in the AM)
-apply to face
-leave on for ~15-20 min sometimes 30
-rinse while gently massaging skin
-cleanse with homemade DHCC

*quick reminder to those unfamiliar with this DIY mask- make sure you use uncoated aspirin!

Aspirin, AKA acetylsalicylic acid, has a structure similar to salicylic acid. Using aspirin is very economical if salicylic acid treatment is desired. I have found it to be very gentle (as opposed to OTC cleansers and masks containing salicylic acid) as well as very effective.

I wanted to give an update--- if I'm having a particularly bad skin day, I'll turbo-charge my mask with a few drops of Juice Beauty Blemish Serum. Seems to really give the mask a boost!

Sorry if this is stupid question, but I went to 3 stores yesterday trying to find simple, UNCOATED aspirin - only thing I could find is enteric coat, or light coat. Where do you ladies find plain old uncoated aspirin tablets?

I use it after I wash. I wash my face with my regular cleanser.. than take some aspirin when I'm in the shower in my hand (if you make a fist with a wet hand they dissolve really fast because of the heat and wetness) then I miss that with a little bit of cleanser and let it do its thing while I'm in the shower. I haven't made a true aspirin mask in awhile, but the quick shower version seems to be helping.

Just a minor word of caution regarding asprin masks and toners. If you suffer from broken thread veins, easy bruising or rosacea, asprin used regularly on the face will make the problem worse. Asprin is absorbed through the skin and is a blood thinner so it can quickly make broken thread veins even thinner and more prone to leakage. At first it will make your skin look better, but after 3 or 4 goes you will notice that broken thread veins are becoming more prominent.

I don't want to worry people, because most people will do very well using asprin cosmetically, but if you do have a tendency towards broken thread veins or easy bruising, then stick to aha's instead.

Has anyone seen this - aspirin in a powered form? It is called BC analgestic powder. I found it at the drug store.
This is a great find for those of us who want an instant aspirin mask Very Happy

My favorite aspirin mask recipe:

2 BC powders (roughly equal to 4 aspirin tablets)
Squirt of Aloe Gel
2 Tsp Royal Jelly in Honey
