OK - by popular demand!!! Wink

Here's the recipe for my concoction. All the ingredients (except the Skin Eternal serum, of course) came from the skin actives science site....

Katee's Eye Potion

I started out with their seakelp bioferment as a base (i think you can use this or their canvas cream, but the seakelp bioferment has more good stuff in it, and i worried that the canvas cream would end up giving me milia...). Then I mixed the following stuff into it:

Eyeliss (the whole thing)
EGF (the whole thing)
Chrysin (between 1/2 and 3/4 of the tube)
Coconut endosperm (about 1/2 the tube)
Dermagen (the whole thing)

I used one of those battery operated hand mixers to blend it. The biggest problem was posed by the Coconut endosperm. When I make this again, I'm going to use a mortar and pestle on the coconut endosperm first. I thought it would just dissolve once i blended the mixture, but it was a pain in the a**.

When I got done, I wasn't happy with the consistency - I wanted something more liquid. I had about 3/4 of a bottle of Skin Eternal DMAE serum that I had picked up somewhere or other - probably ages ago at Whole Foods. Anyway, I ended up mixing that in as well.

You'll end up with alot of product - something between a serumy lotion and a cream. I transferred some into a pump bottle and I keep the rest in the refrigerator.

I put this all around the eye area at night (eyelid too). When you apply it, it doesn't really appear to sink in and by the next morning, it's always kinda flakey. Also, as I mentioned, its quite yellow (I think it's the chrysin that adds the bright yellow color).

After the very first night that I used it, I was COMPLETELY amazed. The entire area was totally and completely smooth and firm. I haven't gotten so dramatic a result with ANY eye product I've tried, and I'm beginning to think that at one time or other, I've tried most of them.

When I mix up a new batch, I still haven't decided whether I'll buy a bottle of the Skin Eternal DMAE serum (which is certainly cheap enough) or if I'll substitute the new "class reunion" serum that they're selling...

Anway, if anyone tries this, do let me know if you get similar results !

Ok - I was far too impatient. This is what I came up with.

2.5 ozs Sea Kelp
2.5 ozs Marine Nutrient Serum (love the smell, reminds me of PSF O2 spray)
2 ozs Rose Distallate
Eyeliss
EGF
Chrysin
Coconut Endosperm
Dermagen
Sodium PCA
DMAE

I used the same weights of the actives you did Kate, just added the Sodium PCA, about half the tube (5mg, I think).

I dissolved the coconut and DMAE in the distallate (no coconuts were maimed in the process Wink ), a water base was definitely the way to go. Mixed the SK & MNS then added the other actives except for the EGF. Mixed well, added the distallate mix to the 1st mix, mixed it really well. When all seemed incorporated I added the EGF and gently folded it in.

I tried it right away...I liked it, still a little tiny bit grainy. Tried it again about an hour later, much better. I think by morning the grittyness will be gone. Have to hand it to ya Miss, you got a winner here. Feels FAB!! Smooth, nice slip. Mine has absorbed nicely, no flaking yet. Definitely can feel a firming, but not 'tight'. Can't wait to try it again after I get up. And although I'm off tomorrow so normally don't wear any makeup I'll put it on as I would a normal day to see how it behaves under my MMU & eye makeup.

Thank you so much for this recipe. I make a eye cream with ALA I like very much for night use. I'm stoked I may finally have a day 1 now!

Okey Dokey. It's a keeper. 'Put my face on' - as if a normal work day.

Katee's serum is da bomb. My tiny little revision made it absorb better, I think. Went on very smooth, perfect consistency for the eye. Applied it to the entire eye area. Soothing, no stinging (but I have rhino skin, I'm able to use Super Cop on my eyes). Once it dried/absorbed I could feel the tightening. Finished with applying my other stuff - couldn't help myself and added a little more before my final spritz of O2 spray.

Applied my makeup as normal. very nice. Smooth, no balling. I'm timing the 'firming effect' right now. Will also try adding more later on to see how/if it will work with makeup on.

Though I can 'feel' the tightening on my eye lid I can't say I notice any difference. My 'crows feet' have definitely smoothed out. Which is what I'm really excited about.

Katee - you weren't kidding about how much it made! This will take me forever to go thru. Just a little drop does both eyes. I split the finished product & put 1/2 in the fridge. I'm gonna break this up further to keep a 1/2 ounce bottle in the bathroom, the rest in the fridge.

Thank you so much for the recipe. It's a winner!

Candy - Can I please just check whether it's the powder or serum DMAE that you used in your recipe? And how much?

Also, is distillate the same thing as hydrosol?

Getting ready to order my ingredients! Very Happy

I use a powder (not from SAS either, nothing wrong with theirs, just found a cheaper source).

I used the same amounts in my serum that Katee did (lol, Kateedid, it's a bug isn't it? - I think I need to go to bed, getting slappy here).

Start low with the DMAE, you can always add more. Some people find it irritating esp around the eye area. I think it was like a 1/4 or 1/2 tsp (didn't do the math to figure what % that would be though).

And the results are in! This stuff is great!!! I woke up w/a little puffiness but that's to be expected (had too much salt yesterday); however, normally I'd be puffy-city!

Today, my eyes were nicely tightened and lifted. This is going to be my new nighttime eye treatment and I will use my much-anticipated PSF Cranberry Phyto-Lift during the day with Stimucol-C. I still have samples of Cellcosmet that I've been using and though I like it well enough, it doesn't warrant the insane price tag! Might have to look into a moisturizing recipe for daytime to go over the Stimucol-C (can't recall if that's moisturizing..if so, that'll be it).

Candy, I did have a blast mixing it up! I like to cook, anyway, so was getting a big kick out of the way it got fluffy when I used the whisk. Smile I followed your mixing steps and it worked well though I didn't have any fresh distillate on hand so just substituted a bit of distilled water and it dissolved fine.

Since this thread has been brought back to life I thought I should 'update' the recipe from what you see below on my original post in August.

The Sea Kelp was dropped as after a few days use during the day did ball up BUT still loved it for PM use. I upped the Rose Distallate and Sodium PCA, it helped with the balling. I use this recipe still, exclusively in the PM as since I have been using my Eye'll Be Seeing You oil blend, I really am quite content with the result.

Ahhhhh shampoo.... laughing

I'm very finicky about shampoo. I like the Terax line, but I get tired of it. There are other things out there that I like, but they're so damn expensive! I have long hair, I wash it everyday (cause I swim and work out, etc), and it was costing me a fortune! Soooo, I started to experiment. What I do now, most of the time, is this: I buy a gallon of the wheat protein conditioning shampoo (delicious mango citrus scent) or the Herb Complex conditioning shampoo (yummy coconut fragrance) fromwww.natural-formulations.com at a cost of about $15 (not bad for a gallon!!!). I mix in a jar of the aformentioned seakelp bioferment, and usually a little coconut endosperm and soy isoflavone if I happen to have them around (which I frequently do cause I use them in my body firming cream / lotion....

It makes an absolutely incredible shampoo! I'm warning you in advance though: it will make your hair grow like crazy! My bf adores the stuff. My older sis also is crazy about it, but she colors her hair and tells me she has to do it way more frequently because her hair grows so fast now. It's also a very good thing for her because she was on some meds that made her previously thick gorgeous mane thin considerably. This stuff has really thickened her hair back up!

I also mix the sea kelp bioferment into my conditioner. I don't usually use any kind of leave in product, but I have used it for this purpose too and its really great. Zero oiliness but maximum conditioning. I keep a small jar of it on hand with a yummy fragrance mixed in for this very purpose.

When I'm in a super ambitious mood (but I rarely have the time to do this), I also make a shampoo from scratch with the stuff as follows:

1/2 cup Sea Kelp Bioferment
1/4 cup Aloe Vera Gel
1/3 cup Pure Honey
cocamidopropyl betaine (a surfectant)
1/4 tsp. Soy Isoflavones
1/8 tsp. L-Arginine
1/8 tsp. L-Carnitine
1/8 tsp. Nianicimide
1/8 tsp. Natural Active Peptides
1/4 tsp. Coconut Endosperm
Fragrance
Distilled water if I want to make it thinner
Germaben II (a preservative)

The stuff is beyond delicious!

Alternatively, I've also made a really nice shampoo with just distilled water, the sea kelp, cocamidopropyl betaine (the surfectant), fragrance and Germaben II.

Have fun ladies Wink

I don't see why not. I just always try to look for an alternative to adding distilled water to my 'potions'. With so many skin loving alternatives it just seems a waste to me to use a great active, vitamin, what have you then dump plain ole water in it. JMO.
