I'm going to bump it up to 4,000 since I have 2,000 IU Then if I do alright, I'll go to 6,000. I do have problems with fatigue so maybe this well help!

I had my Vitamin D levels tested and I had low levels as well. I haven't been back to the Dr. to see what there at now.

When you use that up, consider getting a pill with a higher dosage. I use the Pure Encapsulations brand...1 little capsule has 5,000ius. I already take a TON of supplements every day for my fibro/chronic fatigue, so the more I can consolidate the better! Very Happy

Ugh...things have been nuts this week, starting with a Father's Day celebration and an early bday celebration (mine) on Saturday. Then a bday meal with my sister and BIL on Monday, etc...I have stayed off the DC, but have not been the best with food because things have been really hectic.

I have been rushing around with my cat (he had eye surgery and a cat scan today), plus I "acquired" a mother cat and 3 kittens that were being woefully neglected by my neighbor. They are now living on my sister's screen porch, but I have been going over 2-3x a day to flea comb them, feed them, etc. I took a few days off, but it has been more like a rat race than relaxation!

And I am traveling next week, so food will not be optimal then either. But I am going to try and do the best I can, sigh.

So does anyone want a cute little kitten...I can NOT keep them since I already have 6 cats (3 are rescues),and 4 out of the 6 have high maint health issues (almost $10k of vet bills in 6 months!) Shock I am willing to drive them a loooong way for a new home! Very Happy (FYI...I am in north FL)

bethany.

you are such a nice person to take care of those poor unwanted cats...they are so very cute but I live 1500 plus miles north of you and doubt you want to come to Toronto and be part of the G 8 summit. hopefully you will find some loving people. do you have a cat rescue type shelter that finds foster and adoptive homes? I think they are ok and not too far out there.

good luck with your diet...it is so hard when the regular routine which is working gets too changed.

Hi Bethany,
I know this is off topic, but I do pop in on the weightloss thread now and then. But, those kittens and mom are absolutely beautiful! We are animal people too -- with rescue pets with health issues as well -- we currently have six dogs and four cats!! So, thank you for being who you are and I wish you the best of luck in finding them all "forever" homes! Smile

On topic: I've also given up Diet Coke/Coke Zero for the past two weeks! It has been a little easier than I thought.

Me too, rubby Embarassed

Glad to hear you're on track otherwise Very Happy

I also had a deliberate sugar/carb binge the past couple days; I decided to throw caution to the wind and just get it all out of my system and start over. Hopefully it will go well. I'm temporarily off the wagon as far as the coffee goes... I'm going to just get my eating habits back to what they were this winter (things were great then, but that was before my caffeine intake got out of control Neutral ) and cut back on the coffee later.

Bethany, those kittens are SO cute! I'd love to take one but we could never keep a cat since we put in a doggy door a few years ago. There's no way our fence would keep a cat confined and the nearby highway would use up all 9 of their lives pretty quickly Sad

Awesome, Claudia Very Happy

I felt better when I cut back too! But I just cut back, I didn't eliminate them. I thought about it, but it seemed next to impossible given the social pressures, and my family was totally sabotaging me Rolling Eyes

What improvements are you seeing? You've got me thinking about it again...

Less pain in my body. Virtually no sugar cravings. (but this also comes from working hard to cut out sugar. Right now I manage of a few bites of 85% cocoa, Chocolate bar.)

WEIGHT LOSS! (as grains tend to come in high carb situations)

I figure I'll probably have a pc. of cake now and then... but so far I just feel generally better.

I've notice an improvement in my eyes. The one area that's always a problem... I've been told most likely due to sleep deprivation( twins), and allergies... (grains???)

Right now I'm sick. So, I'm waiting to see when I'm all better if there's improvement...

What does that mean, eliminate grain. Are you no glutens?

no flour, no rice, no corn, no grain... it's a bit more than no gluten.

I had discovered but basically ignored the fact that I'm allergic to wheat when I was about 13.

Should have paid more attention to that, and eliminated back then.

Anyhow. that's what I"m up to... feels good!

Ugh...my stress is getting worse. My black kitten Onyx just had surgery on Tuesday to repair a cherry eye caused by an ear polyp. But the cat scan showed that the polyp is very deep and he has to have a major surgery that involves cutting his neck to get to the ear canal. He could end up with one droopy eye and deaf in that ear. Sad

I will NOT eat emotionally. I will NOT eat emotionally. I will NOT eat emotionally. I will NOT eat emotionally. I will NOT eat emotionally. I will NOT eat emotionally. I will NOT eat emotionally......

I love your Kitty! I wish I could give him a big hug! I hope he does alright with his second surgery! What a brave little guy!

I was wondering have you thought about a protein supplement? A lot of protein supplements I've tried taste like you know what. I found one that tastes just like Chocolate Milk called Max Protein. The protein is Whey based. I drink mine with Milk but it tastes just as good with water. When I'm craving something sweet it hits the spot! Smile

At the moment I am indulging in wine and low-fat string cheese, which may (or may not) be better than seeking advice from my favorite therapists...Ben & Jerry.

I have a great protein powder I use with my green drink, but after the week from hell AND a week of upcoming travel, I decided to go for the stronger stuff. Confused

But thanks for the thoughts for my little 9lb tank, lol. I think he will do just fine...probably better than me!

I have to board 3 of my babies that are on meds next week, and I just HATE doing that. I don't have to travel too much, but when I do, I hate every minute of it because I know they hate it too. Sad

Sherry, he sleeps under the bed most nights, and wants to cuddle about 3 hours before I have to get up every morning. Rolling Eyes

But the night after he had surgery, he and his little cone head e-collar slept with me all night long because he had been so scared at the vet's office. He is a big boy (9+lbs at 8.5 months), but he is definitely a mama's boy! Very Happy

CONGRATS on breaking that plateau...they certainly seem to last forever, don't they?? Mad

Thanks for the kitty compliment...I have 5 flat nosed kitties, and anything other than that doesn't seem normal to me anymore, lol. But they do come with issues, like having to clean their eyes constantly because they don't have sinus cavities, sigh. But when they are this cute, I manage to over look it. Very Happy

Thanks all!! Very Happy

Unfortunately, my diet has not been as strict as it should be since my birthday, and the 4 day business trip this week did not help either. Embarassed

But I do have great news....the 3 kittens are going to an awesome no kill shelter after I take them to get spayed/neutered tomorrow. And my vet agreed to take the mother and try to adopt her out from there. Both places will screen potential adopters very closely, and they will also be well taken care of, so I feel much less stressed about it now.

I thought about keeping one of the kittens because it is SOOO sweet and affectionate, but it would ultimately take away from the time I spend with my other kitties, so I am going to say no since I do have a good option for them. Sad

That is such great news about the kitties, I am sure they will all find great loving homes. What a sweetheart you are to do all of this to get them there! Smile Smile You will have such awesome Karma!

I also know you will get back on track with the diet, it is so difficult when you have so much on your plate! (pun intended) Bad Grin

Beth - I love your Kitties - I would love to have one just like them. My son and I would take your kitten who needs a home. I'm way north in PA = we would guarantee a good home with a lovely brother! or two. I'm sure you'll find a southern home.

Seems to be quite here. How is everyone doing?

I am working crazy hours at the moment, which means that my exercise routine and diet are suffering. Nothing alarming (I managed to make it to gym 2x this week), but things seem to be sliding in a wrong direction.
Hope to do better this coming week.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this great weather (it's been great her is South Ontario over the last couple of days).

R. Smile

Rubby, I don't know why, but I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you were doing!

I am in the same boat...working too much and not being strict enough on my diet. Nor have I started exercising yet! Embarassed
