For the little hairs on my upper lip and chin I just trim them with tiny manicure scissors with the curved tips (not sure what those scissors are called). It seems to keep the hairs away for a little while at least. |

I want to make sure I understand this.
Shaving as an anti-aging technique since the razor exfoliates the top layers?
As far as I know and I have researched this, exfoliation is good for skin brightening and accelerating cell turnover, so your skin looks better, but exfoliation as far as know, has no scientific basis in generating collagen or softening facial lines.
As far as I've researched this, there are only 3 ways to do roll back the clock on your face - sunscreen, retinoids and certain antioxidants.
I guess I am just trying to distinguish between making your face look better vs. actual aging prevention or skin rejuvenation.
I have some peach fuzz on my chin and neck and I've been waxing it as I understand that over time, if you remove the entire hair (including root bulb) eventually, the hair doesn't grow back in that follicle....seems to early for me to tell though on that one..

I do this too. 2 years ago I used a cream to remove the peach fuzz and it destroyed my skin. It was so congested in places I had never had trouble with. It took close to a year and a dermo to fix the problem. Shaving is simple (i've never nicked myself) when it has grown in a little it was not thicker or darker. This has worked for me. It probably does show my pores more, but I prefer this to the fuzzy look! |

no, never, and will never do that. I don't have too much hair anyhow. |

I do have a mirror in the shower. A lot of ladies shave dry-faced and I've started doing that too. It seems to exfoliate even better. If you're peach fuzzy and have large pores, they will be more visable if you shave. |

I dont. I dont have much facial hair anyway. But I think threading is better than shaving. It makes you skin smoother after that. |

i would highly recommend laser treatment. yes it is a bit expensive, but I'm completely hooked on it. I've done my face and lip. I've also am in the process of having my underarms and legs lasered. It is so nice not to have to shave and worry about it. |

This is really surprising...The idea of shaving face is kind of scary.
i shaved my legs and hand very occasionally and my hair does grow back thicker. And after shaving i get lot of ingrown hair , rashes and bumps on my skin. My husband can easily tell touching my skin that something is wrong and my skin is not soft.
I am just wondering how this will impact my skin.
But with wax and my brown slikepil hair comes softer and growth is retarded. |

I have shaved my face about 4 times in my lifetime. It definitely is nice and smooth after and makeup goes on great. I have blonde peach fuzz that you can see when in the sun. It is along my jaw line up to side burns area. Also have a few blonde hairs at the corners of my mouth (which I tweeze). Like everyone mentioned here, I am afraid to get into the habit of shaving my face for fear that the hair will become dark and coarse. So, I just stick with the peach fuzz. |
Im the same, blonde fuzz thats very fine around the jaw and towards ears.
I just shaved for the first time My skin feels so smooth but I hope it dosent grow in hairier.
I used to use that cream hair remover but it irritates my skin so thought Id try shaving instead. |

I just had a thought. Should you be careful what you put on your skin after? Because when i shave under arms i cant put on deodrant for a few hrs or it stings. So im wandering if its the same for the face. |

Carolb69...you don't have to worry about what you put on your skin after shaving. It doesn't leave your face raw or sensitive. It is a light form of exfoliation....you aren't removing a deep layer of skin! Not to worry~ |

Thanks, mountaingirl!
This is amazing! I never think that it could have such effect.
But I have heard that the old generation of Asian used "threads" to remove the face hairs. |

I will not take the risk of having it grow out darker and thicker . Fuzz is acceptable. Woe is me if it is replaced with hair. The only hair on my face that I touch are my brows (pluck) and upper lip (it's not that obvious so I only wax whenever I notice it). |

I've been shaving my face for over 10 years or so, no problems, issues, or darker hair growing back.
Since I got the Silk'n SensEpil, I tried it on my face and had no reactions or problems or anything. Hoping to be rid of facial hair for good. |

I did this for a few months but tended to get clogged pores (maybe ingrown hairs) on my cheeks so I stopped. LOVED the way it made my face feel and look though. I dont think there is anything wrong with it at all! My skin is just so acne prone that any little disturbance sends it into a flare up. |

Sounds like a little "skin shock" to me. I don't know what to put on that. Maybe an oatmeal mask? I wouldn't worry about it tho'...just let it settle back down before you shave again, and get a new razor for just your face if possible. Be real gentle (don't bare down) since the razor blade will be good and sharp. |

My motivation for following this thread is my sil. I was in the car with her recently and when the sun shined on her face, all I could see was peach fuzz on the bottom of her chin and neck. My thought was "she looks like a billy goat". These hairs were not dark, not even that thick, they were blonde. But the normal skin sag associated with aging seem to make them more noticable. Shes 45.
I mentioned this thread to my husband last night. He said "Most men I know use an electric razor" so I googled it and it seems that an electric razor does exfoliate, but is much milder than a blade.
Anyhow, I decided to take the plunge and shave. I am not sure I like it. My face is extremely angular, and I feel my very light "peach fuzz" (which is so fair and light that I do not even need to shave my legs and never have shaved them above the knee) may have softened my complexion and face angles. I did not notice the increase in softness that others have noted. I didn't observe any more softness than after my usual exfoliation regimen, and perhaps less. I used a brand new double bladed pink bic as mentioned earlier in this thread. However, on the basis of not having enough data based on one try, I am going to give it a month before declaring a verdict.
What I honestly thought when I applied foundation was "I look like a drag queen"- because of my now more prominent facial angles (btw, I love drag queens, but don't want to look like one). I showed my husband and asked what he thought (Since I have absolutely no need to shave, I didn't have any modesty issues discussing this outright with him). He stared at my face for a long time, and said "Hmmm". That's all I could get out of him. He said he could never see any hair on my face, but he could see a difference without it. He couldn't decide if he liked it either. He told me to carry on and let him no what I decided. He's pretty indifferent about all the things I try- he is used to it. |

I'm sooooo happy I found this thread!
I was looking the other day in an interview at Laura Bush and saw her wrinkles on the upper lip area look so bad, I guessed she smoked or smokes, the thing is, I have smoked too
I shave my upper lip and I have been doing that since I can remember but I do waxing in between too I have NO wrinkles there, nothing, NADA.
My hair is not thick but it grows often and I would say I have to shave every week and I go for waxing maybe once a month. |

Lip lines are not just caused by cigs. It can be caused by facial expressions, using a sports bottle, or just having thinner skin there. |
