You know when my children were younger, one of them OD on orange juice and carrots and his skin did actually turn orange, so maybe you need to include more of other vegetables and fruits. I took him panicked to my doctor, who just laughed and said to limit the orange juice etc and get him on dark vegetables like cabbage etc (which was a mission in itself he was only young and if it looked green he refused to eat it) but his skin did revert back in like 3-4 days.
I did several three day periods during which I ate nothing and only drank freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juice (mostly green veg and carrot though). I lost about 3 lb each time, and felt great. I liked feeling light for about a week or two after, and mostly eating raw veg and vegan foods. My skin looked great...a little orange but not bad
|

I laughed when I read that - my girlfriend had a similar experience when we were young mothers. She gave her little boy so much carrot juice that he turned yellow and the doctor thought he was jaundiced and packed him off to hospital. He turned out to be fine - but it IS actually possible to get Vitamin A poisoning from too much carrot juice. That's why the old adage of "Everything in moderation" is so important. |

I didn't focus on "cleansing" even one day in my 30s and can't say I'm any better off for it. I decided managing my weight was a higher priority. Now what I'm reading is there is a way to combine both; duh, why didn't I figure this out? I suppose I could have but I bought in to many "metabolism" theories, I think many people believe that the metabolism slows down when you just drink juice, etc.
Cleansing is a big part of Ori Hofmekler's Warrior Diet, also Anthony Bova puts a lot of emphasis on it in his "Spartan" diet manifesto.
