I much prefer this suggestion, to the one where DarkMoon gets to keep him. |

I would just love to see celebrities aging well "naturally" without any invasive procedures. When we say some celebrity over 60 is beautiful are we really admiring the person or the plastic surgeon? Honestly, it is so easy to say someone is aging well when they have millions of dollars and the pick of the best plastic surgeon and botox injector.
The person I really admire is my mother. She is over 80, without a wrinkle on her face, never used sunscreen and washes with bar soap and water. To me she is a natural beauty who is aging well. |

I personally think all the celebs have something done, so I feel we are admiring their procedures/injections rather than their natural beauty.
Leelee, my mother was the exact same way. When she passed at 86, she had very minimal wrinkles, smooth gorgeous skin, and she never did anything to her face. Sometimes I wonder if we are mucking up by using all the products we do? |

Rileygirl.....I agree with you one hundred and fifty percent. When I think of all the money I continually spend on skin care products I can work myself up into an anxiety attack
And, you are right about the celebrities. We are admiring their procedures. I don't know any natural beauty out there except perhaps Judi Dench. I simply adored her in Quantum of Solace. |

I agree, and might I add, we've gotten nuts on our own aging! at 20 girls are starting botox, we need to all expect some lines and aging. Sadly I get sucked into it all too |

Agree!!!
I just loathe 18-19 year old models made up to the hilt selling us wrinkle cream, we need to look at people in the real world and see where REAL beauty is! |

DarkMoon, doesn't that drive you nuts?!? My husband always rolls his eyes when those commercials come on because he knows I'm about to say, "Of course she doesn't have wrinkles...she's 18!!!"
Honestly, there should be some sort of law that prohibits cosmetic companies from running ads for anti-aging products with any model under 30 (should really be more like 40). I would think that if they showed actual, non-retouched before and after pictures, too, of what their product has done for more mature women they most likely not be able to stock the shelves quick enough because us older women would be buying up all their products.
And while I'm at it, could they also pass a law prohibiting the use of false/photoshopped lashes for mascara commercials and print ads? It is really starting to look ridiculous now how long and thick they are making lashes look with these ads. And most gullible consumers actually think these mascaras can make their lashes look 2 inches long and as thick as tarantula legs. |

I agree with everyone and in addition they should stop the air brushing of models in magazines. Even 20 yr. old models are air brushed to promote absolutely flawless skin which is impossible for anyone to achieve. Also, photographing with filters should be a no-no. They do this for older actresses. Sometimes it's so noticeable when you're watching a movie and an older actress's face is in soft focus. It's just a high filter on the lens. Photograph an older woman with her lines and wrinkles. It's not that repulsive. |

Exactly! When the keep doing this, it makes us practically have an anxiety attack when a new wrinkle pops up. Oh no! Now that world knows I'm getting older!! |

OMG Sandooch your so right on the mascara commericals, they are OBVIOUSLY fake lashes, I've often said, even out loud, LMAO, omg who in the world can sell mascara and how ladies with FAKE lashes on, just stupidddddddddddddd
I bet the farm, if we stop buying prodcuts where they do this, they will stop doing it |

All I can say is it is all ridiculous and if people buy the hype that is just sad! |

(I want our thank-you hearts back )
Darkmoon, it is very sad. With so many of the models photoshopped to look perfect and so much hype that the next miracle cream is the anti-aging answer, no one is ever going to feel satisfied with how they look in the mirror.
It makes me even more fearful for the future. Does society really expect women to be 80 and wrinkle free? I'm one to talk with all the skincare stuff I buy, but I do long for the simpler days when all that was around was Ponds coldcream to make you feel beautiful. These days there is a new product on the market practically every week. |

An old friend of mine did some modeling. When she was 43, she had her photo posted everywhere to advertise RoC. She looked so real in that photo and she does look good. |

Due to RoC?
(43 is not 'ageing'. Until the age of 45 or so I only had 2 faint lines on each side of the eye, and very faint 11's, and no sag. RoC claims to adress deep wrinkles and such, the kind of thing that gets to hit you after 45. Looking good at 43 is easy).
I saw an old episode of ER last night, with Susan Sarandon in it. Now THAT is a star ageing incredibly well. I would really like to know what she uses. |

Susan is beautiful, however I don't think she's aging naturally. Looks to me like she had "work" done to her face. It's understandable, though. You just can't age naturally in Hollywood!! It's practically forbidden. Have a wrinkle....can't make a movie |

LE, you make me giggle, thank you
I have to chime in here.
I started aging in my mid-40s and frankly, it scared the heck out of me. Admitting this is great, because the truth sets us free.
It scared me because of course, I worried about being perceived as "old" when I certainly don't feel old on the inside, whatever that is.
I know why I began to appear older : I am a genetic redhead/blonde - we fair the worst in the aging process. I spent my twenties on the beach and I've gained and lost weight numerous times. This was my reality.
I've been working on myself with diligence ever since and I am not done (for the forseeable future) until I have my second surgery later this year.
But I feel good most of the time. My upper bleph and Careprost have given me back the eyes I had in my thirties (and I am not ashamed to admit I had very pretty eyes).
Just last night I was sitting at a July 4th BBQ, when a handsome man leaned over and said to me "you have the most beautiful eyes"...and I thanked him.
Yes, I know, he probably just wanted to have sex, but still I did nothing to prompt that comment, he just threw it out there and I know that 6 months ago, he would not have said that.
Is that vanity? yes and I claim it.

She gets regular medical skin care treatments, but her skin is so thin, that you can see her veins on her face and the muscle. She has to wear foundation. I'm told that she is a very nice person, but when makeup artist do her face, she doesn't talk much. She prefer to be private. She is very dedicated and stick with the plan for skin care. |

Do you know what kind of treatments she gets or skin care plan she uses? I would love to know!
But that red lipstick is just too much IMHO. |

Most of us here go to work nearly every day, at jobs that involve something other than our appearance. In fact, some might argue that jobs requiring us to sit all day, are damaging to our looks.
For movie stars and celebrities, keeping or improving their looks is their day to day job.
Their resources, in terms of time and money, to accomplish this, are likely unlimited.
That said, science is the great equalizer

I don't know what products she uses. She doesn't share that with makeup artist. She is very private.
She gets regular micro, peels, botox and I am not sure what else.
She is a nice person & very private. She also need to focus on her character & when she doesn't have to, I'm sure it is about her personal life, like her children. |

I'm a lurker and learning a lot. I recall in another thread someone asking Barefootgirl about her skincare routine because she mentioned not really being bothered with it until her 40's and that it's never too late to start or something like that. I don't remember exactly what was said, but I don't think Barefootgirl ever answered or if she did I missed it. Sooo Barefootgirl, would you mind telling again what helps you the most with anti-aging. Would you post a before (mid 40's) and after (present) pic to go along with your advice?
Lotusesther, I'd really love to know what you're doing as well. I'm trying to learn all the secrets and apply them now so I can look youthful when I reach middle age. How about posting your pictures too mid 40's vs now? Except for celebrities not many women can claim they look good at 43. Please share your secrets. |
