Lol! Yes,it does look like we think along the same line!
I'm on Day 3 of the Obagi and I notice that I am starting to breakout. There is no redness or peeling, yet, but I am definitely getting into the brekout period. I've already told my friends and family that I will be a hermit for awhile until the magic that is Obagi works and I get that lovely smooth skin at the end of the 6 weeks! |
give it another week. I'm sure you'll be peeling by then. funning you say about hermit from friends and family. i was the same way.. well from some people. and then when way saw me... their Like OMG!!!!! your skin looks so GREAT!!! and i'm like Yes i know.. i know. hehe |
Hiya, Skinprofusion!
How is your skin now? Are you still on the Obagi. It is now Day 11 for me on the Obagi and I am still breaking out. :P I had clear skin before I went on it and I got on to get rid of old acne scars and ice pick like scars from past breakouts. I had stopped breaking out before i got on it and I didn't think it would make me breakout. Yipes! :P anyhoo, I'm still breaking out(chin/jaw and mouth area) but I have also finally started peeling all over. The peeling is very slight, though and so far no redness or dryness. I've definitely taken on the role of hermit(esp with the new zits. :P) and I look forward to it clearing up so I can proceed on the next phase--peeling and redness, right? Then it will be smooth? lol--I hope so! :P |

It has been interesting to read what you are all going through those first few weeks - when everything looks terrible - constant sunburnt look (evwen in winter), peeling, breakouts. I am now into my 10th week and still have the peeling and some redness. At times I used the ACTION which settled things down - I even mixed a small amount with Exforderm, which was good. My skin certainly looks a lot better - but I have read a lot of information where this 6weeks could be in fact 12weeks. I will keep going as I must be on a downhill run.
Good luck to you all and will keep ready your notes.
Regards
Brenda |

Wow, this stuff just sounds so tempting. I've got the blackheads and a little scarring I would love to get rid of. Has anyone noticed any change in the appearance of large pores? That would just clinch it for me, I think. |

Mogwai,
Large pores - mine seemed to get bigger as time went on and I have certainly noticed that the pores are really clean and have closed. I used to remember before Obagi that the feel of my skin was rough and uneven (bumpy) - I know that when I wash my face each night and morning that my skin feels smooth and even - the whole colour and tone is even. Just can't stop that peeling at the moment - Was out last night and by 10pm, was visibly noticable and someone asked if I got sunburnt. Looks better today, so will now calm down for a while.
The other thing is blackheads - they are a thing of the past - it seems that they are brought right up to the surface and then with the cleaning regime, they are washed away.
Hope that this information assists.

Thanks, yes it does help. I'm thinking this is going to my next big splurge. Are any of you folks using the system also using other products at the same time, or is that a no-no? I'm guessing it would be...I just love alpahaderma so, though, it's hard to think of not using it. |

I have never used this, but from my understanding, this is to be used as a short term treatment only. This is not for extended use. That said, you could go back to your regular routine after completeing the 6 weeks and getting "new skin"... This treatment sounds pretty hardcore though, and I am not sure I would put myself on this program. Probably should go to a derm if you are really interested in starting this. |

Hi,
New here..and so glad to have found this site!1 Well I tried the blender with the Retin A about a year ago, but was to impatient with the peeling that I stopped. However, I am going to give it another shot. I was concerned though...can you use it on the orbital eye area? Does anyone know? Seems like a rather intense treatment to use there, but that is certainly an area on me that needs the work. Appreciate your feedback...Elainakay
PS...Love Jan Marini C-esta eye repair cream. Been using it for 3 years now, quite pleased. |

Hi, faith!
How are you? I'm on Day 15 now and my face is still breaking out in the chin area. I'm also peeling slightly all over, but there is no redness or extreme peeling to report of yet. It's just the breakouts that are driving me nuts. I did notice that I was getting more blackheads at first, too, but now they seem to have diminished ever so slightly(hopefully it is not my imagination). I am documenting everything though and taking pics myself(since my esthetician disappeared once she sold the system to me. :P) Although the breakouts bother me still, they don't seem as bad and they are in the chin/mouth area. I was worried about the area surrounding my eyes, nose, and lips getting too thin, dry, or cracked, so I have been applying aquaphor to the area and so far have experienced no problems.
As for as acne scars fading, a couple of the scars from some of the Obagi induced breakouts are definitely fading and some of the old scars look like they might be fading, too esp in the mouth area where there is more regular peeling(however slight it may be).
--Skinprofusion, your words of encouragement are helping me stick with the Obagi! I have also heard from some others that people with acne prone skin breakout the first month before the peeling and redness takes over and the new smoother skin is revealed. I am hoping it won;t be a month(yipes! ), but I'm willing to stick through this til the end. |

Hi kookykitty,
The person that sold you the system seems really irresponsible. I can't believe they just left you with it. I am not sure what aquaphor is. A moisturizer?? Maybe this is why you aren't peeling as much. This seems to me like it would be a good thing though and with 4 weeks left still, you could end up peeling a whole lot more!! So far, it sounds like it is doing some good though Keep us posted! |

Hiya, faith!
Yes, I'm really bummed about the esthetician who sold the system to me, but I don't have much confidence in her knowledge so in a way, I'm not too upset about her disappearing. :P I'm learning more here and on the Obagi skincare forum!
As for the Aquaphor, it is like vaseline--I use it only on my lips and the corners of my mouth to prevent cracking. I don't put it on my face.
I'm still not really peeling except for the very mild subtle peeling in the same mouth/chin area. But, yes, with so many more weeks to go, peeling may occur yet. I'm just worried that the system may not be doing anything for the old scars and pits that I originally went on it for in the first place since I am not peeling in those areas. :P I hope that's not the case, though! :P |

Hi, Skinprofusion!
Do you know if the peeling is an indication of the system actually working? I'm worried since I am not peeling in the areas where I have the old scars and pits. I'm using the Tretinoin 0.1% with the Blender. |

I just read somewhere on this forum about a member that has used this a lot, and she said she has to use a lot of retin-a to get her skin to peel. Maybe try using it twice a day...can you do that? |

Hi, faith!
Thanks for the suggestion! I was also given another exfoliant to use in the day, though--Exfoderm Forte so I am unsure of how to combine the two. The Exfoderm Forte is supposed to be a strong exfoliator, too. I did notice a smidge bit more peeling in my nose area and above my eyebrows a bit today, though, so maybe the big peeling will start soon. |

It's alright you know what I didn't start peeling on my 4 head until around week 3 or 4 but if you really want to tell that it's working next time your in a hot shower after a few times just rub your 4 head or cheeks and you'll see all the skin that comes off!..Just don't do it everytime your in the shower. in a way its good it makes the product go even deeper but then you face might be even more red. |

Hiya, Skinprofusion!
I'm starting week 3 tomorrow. I've definitely had some peeling on my chin/mouth area. In fact, I think that area is starting to clear up a wee bit now--this is the area that was hit the hardest from the Obagi induced breakouts. The good thing is the scars from the breakouts are fading. I did notice a wee bit more peeling in between my eyebrows and around my nose a couple days ago, but it seems to have stopped. :P Sometimes it looks like I peel a bit, then other days, it doesn't. I'm going to try applying the Retin A twice a day to my forehead and esp to the areas where I had the old scars to see if that helps. Do you think I should cut out the Exfoderm Forte and replace it with Retin A in the AM? |

My medical spa suggests using an Obagi treatment regiment in conjunction with the photofacials I want to do. I hope I'm not undertaking too much at once... |

Hi everyone!
Im from London and this is the first time I've ever entered a "forum!" I so need to get more tecchy!!
I am on day 2 of my Obagi Ne Derm regime and I must say my skin looks better already!! All of your comments and advice have been really useful and a pleasure to read.
I've never been prone to spots but I have been an avid sunbather throughout my 20's (I'm just 30 now)and I can really start to see the negative affects of my sun-worshipping. Lots of freckles (that do not fade) and hyperpigmentation, bumpy skin (especially on my forehead) and premeture fine lines around my eyes.
I recently went to a cosmetic surgeon (origionaly for Botox injections) and he suggested I try the Obagi range as this would make the changes I wanted.
On day 2 my skin at the moment is feeling quite tight and dry on the inside but on the outside it really shines! Which is great because I love that dewy skin look!!
I know I've got a long way to go yet, but I'm very much excited about the end result! You all seem to have great success stories and my plastic surgeon in London was very confident that this treatment was the best non-invasive, non-surgical treatment around.
I'll let you know of my progression and look forward to hearing your updates.

I've been on Obagi for 5 weeks and like the results so far. The continued peeling is fading the dark spots away. |

I got prescription from my doctor and I went through the same experience of peeling and breaking out more then ever. But after a two months, I found my skin got a lot better. I think all of you are going through the same experience with Obagi. |

It is funny to me that everybody on obagi seems to await for the big 6-week's Ceremony, even me. But the truth is that it really depends on your skin's sensitivity and how much you use. Like, let's say I use Retin-A and blender like crazy. I mean, I am not the type of guy to measure stuff, it's boring for me. So I just squeeze the thing and whatever comes out I use. It strucks me though that all of us go through the same experience and finally everybody gets great results and those starting the race earlier are so anxious to see the results. I am on week 5 now and the redness is still here and peeling of course but I got used to it. Usually people stare at me for different reason but now they stare at me for the peeling and the baked face so it is not any different to me.Using obagi and living in NYC and usually take the subway to work be prepared for the people-staring -at-you-24/7-game. To be honest with you I am very anxious to see the results cuz everybody says that the skin is new perfect, even toned, smooth. For me is something that I experience up to when I was 12 years (I am 19). Since then my skin looks like crap. I had my good days but nothing special ever. Oily,sun-damaged, discolored with blackheads and pimples. Does it get any better? heh. But anyhow I'll let you know if the 6-week wonder happens. Till then cheers with an obagi Foam-Gel. Good luck |

I am almost done with my 6th week of the Obagi treatment. I am pretty excited…so far so good; however, skin still very dry and flaking. I was wondering, if after the 6th week, you can start using a moisturizer...any one knows?
Thank you for all the comments, very helpful ) |
