Does anybody know how shaving interacts with Retin A usage? |

I shave 3x a week, but I do exfoliate everyday. |
Thanks, rmc7. Ok. Stupid question here, but do you notice any stubble doing this? (And, could you share how you exfoliate daily?) I have a lot of peach fuzz on my face after using the GHK, but the area above my upper lip is becoming very noticeable and I have really been contemplating shaving, but I am very nervous! |
Not a stupid question. I have not noticed any stubble.
I use the Clarisonic at night to exfoliate with OCM and the Microfiber cloth with plain water in the Morning. I guess I actually exfoliate A.m.&P.m. razor 3x a week and microdermabrasion once a week. Hmmm, it's a wonder I have any skin left!

I also use retin a every night and put it on after I have shaved with no problem. I think I have strong skin, a normal person should take it slow. |

LOL at your tough old bird comment!
Thanks for the info, rmc7. I do like hearing you don't have stubble, as that I what I am really nervous about, especially above my upper lip! |

I'm also a Retin-A user.
I should have mentioned that my hair really is peach fuzz - I don't have that Mediterranean dark hair on the face - that's why I don't notice a stubble.
Riley - you could try it once and see what you think. I think we're all in agreement now that shaving doesn't make the hair grow back thicker. |

Yes, I just have to get my nerve up first, Keliu! But, I have been reading about it and am getting closer and closer to trying it! |

Yep, I shave my face--I just have peach fuzz but I find that it is softer and looks much nicer without the fuzz. The only problem is that I am really timid about it. I worry that I will cut myself or get razor burn.
I find it distracting when someone has a lot of peach fuzz when it is so simple to remove it. |

I use crotex hair removal cream to get rid of unwanted hair. It removes unwanted hair permanently and here are no side effects. I highly recommend it. |

I shave my chin daily and my upper lip approx once a week. I don't do the full face shave for exfoliation - mine is strictly hair removal. I have sensitive skin and use a retinol at night and have had no issues with shaving. I even use the cheap razors I use for my underarms rather than the nicer ones I use on my legs.
For me, shaving is the right answer. Letting the hair grow out long enough to wax is unattractive. It's too awkward of an angle to see to tweeze. Depilatories majorly flare up my sensitive skin and Vaniqa caused acne problems. I need to keep up with my chin daily because of the amount of hair growth there, but it takes 5 seconds in the morning. Laser hair removal would be nice someday, but it's not on the financial priority list since the maintenance is quick and easy. |

You're absolutely right—shaving your face (or dermaplaning) can make a huge difference in skin texture and appearance. It doesn’t make hair grow back thicker or darker; that’s a common myth. The blunt tip from shaving just makes regrowth feel a bit different. For most women, it leaves the skin smoother, helps with exfoliation, and makes makeup apply beautifully. I’ve even seen some mixed reviews on tools like electric shavers at https://philips-norelco.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html, so choosing the right method or tool matters. It’s great that you listened to your dermatologist, even if it took a while. More women are catching on to the benefits now, and for good reason. If it works for your skin and gives you confidence, that’s what matters. |
