bkkgirl - I found that for me to get the most out of this peel, I have to layer it on thick - not a thin layer like it says. Maybe your skin is just not that sensitive to glycolic acid or maybe you don't need the exfoliation. Hopefully Nanci will see your post and offer suggestions. I would like to see what she has to say also! I am really noticing a reduction in my freckles doing this peel weekly and using the CP product (finally something working for me - it has only taken me 2+ years and thousands of dollars to find this! ) |

I used this peel 3 times now, and this 3rd time I left it on for 20 minutes instead of 15. It still has not done much for me. I wonder if I have to leave it on much longer. It doesn't even redden my skin this time. Is this not normal? |
Hi bkkgirl! I have to admit, you have me stumped on this one. I left the peel on for 15 minutes once and I'll never do that again - too much exfoliation for me! So...... in spite of the fact that your skin didn't get pink from it this time, are you at least getting the benefit of exfoliation from it and smoother feeling skin? To answer your question, no - it isn't the norm. |

Nanci, last time I did a peel I left it on for 10 minutes. I didn't get pink, however, I could see and feel such a difference in my skin - it absolutely glowed for days. |

Hi Salli! That's not uncommon. It depends on how often you do the peel. Since I'm a microfiber junkie on a daily basis, I only do the peel once or twice a month at most. My skin doesn't react the same every time either. Sometimes it really "tingles" and other times it doesn't as much. It depends on the PH level of your skin at the time. Glad you're glowing ST!! |

Hi Rileygirl and Nanci,
Just my luck to not be normal! LOL Anyway I have enough left to try one more time, and this time I will leave it on for 30 minutes to see if anything happens. I really did not see a difference between before and after applications yet. I'm still hoping for the best. I don't know why my skin is so tough. I had thought it was sensitive but now maybe it's not. Or maybe it's sensitive to certain things only. The pumpkin peel smells delicious though. I feel like eating it. hehe
Thanks!

By the way, Nanci, is this pumpkin peel a handcrafted creation of yours? I wonder about this because this review is in the DIY section. |

Hey, Bkkgirl - do you use the microfiber cloth? I ask because of Nanci's post. I use mine daily but I still do the peel weekly. Wondering if that may make a difference for you. Just a thought! |

rileygirl, I use my microfiber cloth daily too. Maybe that is the difference. I only do the peel about every 10 days though. |

Hi bkkgirl - no, I have it manufactured for me. Can I say that?? Not sure why it's in the DIY section - |

Hi Bkk,
First, let me get this one out - I have never, ever tried NCN Pumpkin peel (although I do intend to try it soon ), so I don't have any experience with that particular peel.
But - let me share what I do with PSF pumpkin peel. I understand PSF's product is weaker than NCN, but according to the instructions, that peel should not be left on the skin for more than 15-20 minutes either. I can keep that stuff on my face for hours !!!! And I never ever had any adverse reactions. Actually, to be honest, my sense is that as soon as it dries a bit (like after 10-15 minutes) it stops working. Soooo, here is what I've been doing lately to get a bit more action out of the peel- I apply the peel (fairly thin layer) and let it sit on my face for good 20-30 minutes. Then, i take the spritz bottle (I have one with clear water), and I spritz my face well, to moisten the peel. Usually, after a minute or two, I start feeling a bit of burning again (which I usually feel after I first apply the peel). I let it sit on my face for another 10 minutes (until the burning stops), and then I wash it off.
I really feel that I give the peel a bit of a boost this way and that I get better results. I wouldn't recommend this to people who have sensitive skin, but if you have a sense that this peel is not doing anything for your skin - this may be an option.
Well, as I said, I do this with PSF pumpkin peel and that works really well for me.

Salli - I do think this is 1 of the keys for me with this peel anyway. I had a hard time getting the hang of the microfiber cloth, but once I did I really started noticing improvements with my other products also. I think the real thing is the daily exfoliation! |

Rileygirl - what you said, "I think the real thing is the daily exfoliation" is so true! Exfoliation stimulates cell renewal. If we continually exfoliate on a daily basis, we're actually MAKING our skin act like it did (rate of cell turnover) when we were in our 20s! Our skin is FORCED into creating new, healthy, plump cells every day - not just once a week. Sure, the pumpkin peel does that too - but I'd rather exfoliate on a daily basis and get the benefits of that. Then do the pumpkin peel once in a while (once or twice a month is all I do) for an added "boost" - and well, it smells so darn good too! |

Do you think daily exfoliation gently with micro crystals is too much? Cloth is better or I have Clarisonic Brush too. This is so smart - yes when we are younger we do turn over all the time so we can recreate this ourselves. |

Hi mommydearest, I don't believe in anything "grainy" for exfoliation - even if the grains are round - they can tear your skin. We need to be very kind to our skin! I think the brush is ok - probably don't get the exfoliation like you do with microfiber though. |

Hi NCN-
Do you think the microfiber is ok for a 10 yr old?He has a light touch and very cautious so would not be aggressive with it. He really just needs some help on his nose because we are trying to clean out some tiny blackheads that have been there for years. |

My dermatologist thinks I have rosacea. I also have several broken capillary veins on my face. Can I still exfoliate daily with the microfiber cloth? A PA told me once that chemiical exfoliants are better for those prone to broken capillaries, but then I also read that AHAs are not good for those with rosacea. I am so confused. I NEED exfoliation. |

Hi rhensel, one of my favorite Aestheticians has rosacea and peels help her tremendously. You do need exfoliation - you can use a microfiber cloth - just use a lighter touch on the area that your Dr. thinks is rosacea. I'm going to pm you..... |

Rileygirl, no, I have not used the microfiber cloth. I am using the IFP BHA 2%/AHA 4% to exfoliate, but I just started it. I do it every other day. I am not seeing any peeling either. Maybe I need to step up to applying it every day especially after reading Nanci's post about exfoliating daily is a good thing. (I still love to look at her picture. Her skin is so awesome.)
Nanci, I don't think this review should be in the DIY section at all. I thought it's only for products that are either DIY or hand-crafted by the vendor him/herself. I think we are all getting confused about where to post a thread. At least I do anyhow. LOL
Rubby, Thanks for the recommendation. I will try that. I just invested in a spray bottle purchased at Target for this purpose. LOL I will fill it with distilled water. Hmm...I'm going to order some Rose Hydrosol at GOW, too, and add it in to the water. I read someone's post about doing that. It sounds lovely. |

Do I need the microfibre cloth, the 15% daily exfoliator and the exfol serum together with the pumpkin peel as these products all appear on the same page as the pumpkin peel.
Do I need to stop using retinol products and epidermxII? |

bkkgirl - I also use IFP BHA/AHA 2/4%. I am using this every other day right now also, but I still use my microfiber cloth every day. Its really inexpensive, maybe you should give it a try! I love looking at Nanci's picture too, it gives me hope!
Ninetynine - sorry, are you using copper peptides? If you are it is recommended on the skin bio site to use a daily exfoliant (either Nanci's 15%, the Exfol serum or their new LacSal serum are examples - just pick 1) and also they recommend to use the microfiber cloth (they only recommend this a few times a week, I find daily with this better). I am using Retin A, so I don't believe you would have to stop the retinol product. The epidermx is an exfoliator, so maybe you would not need the above mentioned ones. |

Ninetynine, why don't you email or pm NCN. I think she would be the best person to answer that. |

Thanks. I am not using cps yet. I will try to incorporate it in my program a little later. I just ordered some Remergent products so I think I will have use them for a while first before I try cps. I also thinking about the DPL. I previously had incorporated too many new products at the same time that I was not sure what was good for me, I still don't
I am just running low of PSF's Pumpkin Peel so I think I will give this one a try.
I will send Nanci a PM. |
